RE: The Matter of the Peoples Temple

Dear Mr. Garry;

As you are aware, this firm represents several parents and/or guardians of children under the age of eighteen, who the Peoples Temple has removed to the Republic of Guyana. We have been retained specifically to investigate the circumstances of that removal, locate the minors in question, and return them to their parents, or guardians. In view of the evidence and testimony in the matter, it is hoped that you, as counsel for the Temple, will assist in the expeditious return of these minors, eliminating the necessity for the parents to file formal complaints.

The children whose return we are requesting, are all presently in the custody of the Temple and most likely, are in the Republic of Guyana at this time. We shall present, upon request, the documents to support the demand in each case.

Attached, you will find the parent, or guardian demand for the return of the individual minors. If you have any further questions or concerns, please be advised, that we are trying to work in everyone’s best interest in this matter.

Very truly yours,
Joseph A. Mazor

Dear Mr. Chaikin;

As the attorney for the Peoples Temple, I, the undersigned, WALTER JONES, hereby make formal demand upon you to return to me, the minor child VINCENT LOPEZ, of whom I am the legal guardian. It is my understanding that the minor child is presently in the Republic of Guyana and I hereby revoke any and all Powers of Attorney, or other documents previously signed by me and demand the immediate return of said minor child.

I have retained the investigative firm of Joseph A. Mazor & Associates, to locate and return said minor to the jurisdiction of the State of California.
