Side A

In the beginning of the tape an unidentified man asks an unidentified woman, “Did you kill her?” They then move away from the recorder and most of the remaining conversation cannot be heard, but bits and pieces of the conversation which can be heard sound like a Doctor and his female assistant talking to a very sick or drugged female patient. The patient sounds like an older woman. The Doctor called the woman patient, “Mother” once and “Grandmother” another time.

Conversation between an old sick woman and her relatives and/or friends.

JIM JONES appears to be very upset and states that if they take twenty people today they will take sixty people tomorrow. JONES further states that if “we all can’t go together we will die together.

JONES transmits over the radio requesting any country to grant him and his people asylum. JONES also states that all his people have made a decision to die together if they are given asylum.

I think I’ll tell him to stick it!” The tape concludes with JONES giving the basketball team a pep talk for their upcoming tournament in Georgetown.

On May 26, 1979, Special Agent (name deleted) reviewed the tape numbered 1B69-22. This tape was found to contain the following:

JIM JONES with news and commentary followed by announcements. JONES makes the statement, “We are armed,” we believe in armed defense and resistance”, “we ask comrade STEVEN and others to form their guerilla [guerrilla] activist group in guerilla training and strategy … we should learn all phases of guerilla training and discipline.”

This is followed by a question and answer session on the news followed by more announcements in which JONESS [JONES] states, “Teachers, tell your kids not to speak of killing capitalists.”
