The Guyana Government performed only one full autopsy after the mass deaths of November 18, that on the body of Rep. Leo Ryan.

Dr. Leslie Mootoo, the Guyana pathologist who also made cursory examinations of a number of the Jonestown dead on site, conducted the procedure and signed the death certificate in Port Kaituma on November 20.

There was no autopsy performed on the congressman in the United States. His body was transported from Guyana to the U.S. on November 21 and buried at All Souls Church in South San Francisco on November 22.
