Lists of needed supplies

While individual members of Peoples Temple who emigrated to Guyana were responsible for providing their own personal items and toiletries for immediate use, the Jonestown community needed supplies on an ongoing basis, and people who traveled in and out of Guyana on a regular basis often brought these everyday items with them.

The following lists show what the needs of a jungle community of 1000 people were. Execpt for the sixth document below – which is undated – the listings are in chronological order. It should be noted that Claire Janaro, who was tasked with bringing the items on the final list, arrived in Georgetown, Guyana by plane on the evening of November 18, 1978, and was on her way to the Temple’s headquarters at Lamaha Gardens when the first news about the assassination of Leo Ryan came over the radio of her taxicab.
