RYAN at Port Kaituma, Guyana, South America, on November 18, 1978, a tape recording was obtained. This tape recording was located in Jonestown, Guyana, South America, and was turned over to U.S. Officials in Guyana and subsequently transported to the United States.
On May 31, 1979, Special Agent (name deleted) reviewed the tape numbered 1B93-45. This tape was found to contain the following:
Combination of music with news and commentary by JIM JONES. News items included topics such as:
1. North Korea
2. Rhodesia
3. PHILIP AGEE and the CIA
4. Chile
An announcement by JONES concerned the loss and subsequent recovery of a boat.

On June 1, 1979, Special Agent (name deleted) reviewed the tape numbered 1B93-47. This tape was found to contain the following:
News of the day and commentary by JAMES JONES. JONES speaks of administrative matters regarding Jonestown, i.e. (Bathrooms, cleaning of dishes.)
JONES speaks of possibly moving the community at Jonestown to the Soviet Union.

On June 1, 1979, Special Agent (name deleted) reviewed the tape numbered 1B93-48. This tape was found to contain the following:
A short interview of "HENRY" (Last Name Unknown), a visitor from Port Kaituma to Jonestown.
This tape was reviewed and nothing was contained thereon which was considered to be of evidentiary nature or beneficial to the investigation of the murder of Congressman RYAN.

In connection with the Federal Bureau of Investigation’s (FBI) investigation into the assassination of U.S. Congressman LEO J. RYAN at Port Kaituma, Guyana, South America, on November 18, 1978, a tape recording was obtained. This tape recording was located in Jonestown, Guyana, South America, and was turned over to U.S. Officials in Guyana and subsequently transported to the United States.
On August 20, 1979, Special Agent (name deleted) reviewed the tape numbered 1B93-55. This tape was found to contain the following:
JIM JONES sermon on inhumanity to animals (horses).
JIM JONES states, "I have a daughter on board a plane arriving on Tuesday night, amongst GRACE (STOEN) who’s living with WALTER JONES, TIM STOEN, STEVEN KATSARIS, ANTHONY KATSARIS, JIM COBB, MICKEY TOUCHETTE, WAYNE PIETLA, the two sinister OLIVERS, BONNIE BURNHAM (phonetic), MIKE CARTMEL, SUSAN CARTMEL, DIANA MERTLE, MIKE and SUSAN don’t live together, SUSAN is nothing more than a common whore, MERT - MERTLE, TIM REITERMAN, who is a rightist fascist with the Examiner, DON HARRIS, another rightist with NBC, someone of the same ilk with the Chronicle, LEO RYAN…some coming in secretly … some at night … They will kill … destroy … How do I know? Because I have a very reliable person, inside, infiltrated, doing heavy work … This criminal RYAN… If they enter this property illegally, they will not leave it alive…"
"I’m a liberator, I’m a savior. And I’m also powerful … I am here, there, there is no space that I am not present. That I fill all space, occupy all time. You’ve forgotten who I am … I have no beginning and I have no ending … I am that which they call God." (crowd applauds and agrees)

In connection with the Federal Bureau of Investigation’s investigation into the assassination of U.S. Congressman LEO J. RYAN at Port Kaituma, Guyana, South America, on November 18, 1978, a tape recording was obtained. This tape recording was located in Jonestown, Guyana, South America, and was turned over to U.S. Officials in Guyana and subsequently transported to the United States.
On June 1, 1979, Special Agent (name deleted) reviewed the tape numbered 1B93-56. This tape was found to contain the following:
News and commentary, November 13, 1978, by JIM JONES. During JONES’s commentary, he states, "There is no news upon the arrival of those who threaten our community. Their forces are not as large as first estimated. We are assured that we have the right to use reasonable force to keep anyone off our premises that we do not wish here."
At the conclusion of the news and commentary, JONES states, "Stand true to socialism, it requires much sacrifice. I am preparing to make great sacrifice. I know what it requires."
In addition, there are portions of the tape which have inaudible voices.
It is noted that JONES mentions that Russia will make an issue out of RYAN’s visit to Jonestown should the visit be against the will of Jonestown.

On June 1, 1979, Special Agent (name deleted) reviewed the tape numbered 1B93-61. This tape was found to contain the following:
JIM JONES announces, "We will be having guests probably on Friday. They seem to be much nicer now … the Congressman is quite apologetic for all of this ado. He probably didn’t expect to happen what is happening. We are going to receive him and he’s trying to get an understanding and he’s willing to even talk on the radio. Perhaps they are aware of our determination-whatever . . We want our attorney with us who will be here, MARK LANE, and he will accept our terms on that basis."
There follows the news, commentary and announcements followed by, "Do not fear. Things are not near. We’re looking very good at this particular time… The government has been very thoughtful and they called the arrival of Mr. RYAN on radio (inaudible) a right wing reactionary."

RYAN at Port Kaituma, Guyana, South America, on November 18, 1978, a tape recording was obtained. This tape recording was located in Jonestown, Guyana, South America, and was turned over to U.S. Officials in Guyana and subsequently transported to the United States.
On June 3, 1979, Special Agent (name deleted) reviewed the tape numbered 1B93-64. This tape was found to contain the following:
JAMES JONES reading and commentary of the news of the day on Thursday and Friday, November 9 and 10, 1978.
JONES states the community is under siege starting on Tuesday when the visitors arrive. Congressman RYAN has voted as a racist and a fascist, and the community is under an onslaught of a fascist American plot.
JONES states that only if you are prepared to die for what you believe in are you prepared to live for it.
JONES told members of the community to stay in the central area of the compound, as they might be killed by infiltrators.
JONES made the following points about visitors:
1. Ex-members are funded by and connected with the CIA.
2. These people will kill you if you went up to them.
3. There may even be hired mercenaries, who will kill you if you move towards them.
4. They are coming here to destroy Jonestown.
5. No matter how friendly they seem, do not go near them.
6. The airplane that flew over yesterday was trying to locate me and kidnap me.
7. We are under attack by mercenaries, stay together.
8. They have tried to kill one of my sons.
9. Some will have guns, you will not find safety by going to them.
10. Do not trust them.

JIM JONES reading announcements, makes the comment, "STOEN, the MYRTLE’s and FOREMAN murdered CHRIS LEWIS." JONES later talks of suicide and states, "If you have feelings of suicide, we will help you with a tranquilizer … Don’t give the fascist-capitalists a laugh … Don’t give the enemy satisfaction."
Later JONES states "… If we find someone has run away, we’ll call the Guyana Defence Force and they’ll give you 30 to 40 lashes.
Thereafter follows announcements concerning medical "miracles" performed by JONES and immigration to the Soviet Union as well as the daily news.
