
Because this site is continually being updated we thought it helpful
to provide a guide to what's new on the site. We will list links
to items uploaded within the past month, and will update it from
the top, so that you can see at a glance what is truly new.
- Thirteen new transcripts and summaries were added to the website
on 11 April 2003, and are available at the Jonestown
Audiotape Primary Project. This brings the total number of
transcriptions and summaries online to 96. Only 800 more tapes
to go!
- The "Last
Words" written by Richard Tropp were added to the Primary
Sources section of the site on 4 April 2003. The "Last
Words" written by Annie Moore were added 7 April 2003.
- Eleven new tape transcripts were uploaded on 6 December 2002,
and can be read at Jonestown
Audiotape Primary Project.
- Volume 4, November 2002 of the
jonestown report was uploaded on 30 October 2002.
- A comprehensive list of the senior citizens living in Jonestown,
as well as the Social
Security checks they received in September 1978 was added
on 16 July 2002. This list answers the FAQ: "was there Social
Security fraud in Jonestown?" The short answer is "no."
- A list of those members of Peoples Temple (or their heirs) entitled
to Unclaimed
Property available from the California Controller's Office
was created and added on 6 July 2002.
- Completely revised and updated lists of those who died
and those who survived
were uploaded in June 2002. A new category of those
who died before 18 November 1978 has also been added. The
list of resources
was expanded to include more scholarly material and to update
holdings of the North Baker Research Library of the California
Historical Society.
- Sixteen new tape transcripts and summaries were added to the
Jonestown Audiotape
Primary Project. In addition, a new section called Primary
Source Documents from Peoples Temple was created, which will
carry original documents from the organization.
- The latest edition of the
jonestown report, volume 3, 2001, was uploaded 30 October
2001. In addition, a search engine
was added that allows site visitors to search the site for information
they are interested in finding.
- The Jonestown Primary Audiotape Project added 20 new tape transcripts
and summaries to the site, and re-designed the format for ease
of finding tapes by subject. There is now an Index
to Tape Summaries, and Index
to Tape Transcripts, an Index
to FBI Summaries, and an Index
to the so-called "Death Tape." All of these Indexes
are available through an introductory page for the Jonestown
Audiotape Primary Project. (Added July 2001.)
- A new feature of the site is the Public Domain Photo Archive,
which has more than 70 photos available free for use in magazines,
reports, videos, and other products. These photos were taken by
residents of Jonestown in 1977 and 1978. Please credit "the jonestown
report" if you use any photos from the site. Go to Public
Domain Photo Archive.
- A new page called "Who Died?" directs readers to three links,
already accessible through Frequently Asked Questions, but still
more accessible now that the link appears on the "Contents" page.

- An obituary file of people who have died since 18 November 1978
is now on-line which provides the names and published obituaries
for those trying to track down sources. It appears under "Frequently
Asked Questions" and at its own page "Who
Has Died Since 18 November 1978? (Added 19 June 2000).
- Fourteen new tape summaries and transcripts have been added
to The Jonestown
Primary Audiotape Project. Tapes Q635 through Q639 now comprise
a complete "White Night" that occurred in April 1978. The
new tapes are Q135, Q242, Q598, Q599, Q629, Q630, Q638, Q665,
Q681, Q689, Q736, Q806, Q807, and Q953.(Added 25 April 2000.)
- An "Archive" has been added to
keep the website clear of old or out-of-date items, and yet keep
them available for review or research. (Added March 2000.)
- The Jonestown
Primary Audiotape Project presents a list of some twenty audiotape
summaries and transcriptions prepared by Fielding McGehee, III.
The project also includes all FBI summaries of the Peoples
Temple tapes in its files. (Added November 1999.)
- the
jonestown report gives an account of research into
Jonestown and Peoples Temple that has occurred over the past year.
New to the jonestown report is a listing of African American
speakers willing to talk about their experiences as Black members
of Peoples Temple. Please see the first item noted on the jonestown
report for those persons willing to be contacted for public
lectures and presentations. (Added November 1999)
