“I met Elaine when she first came to Peoples Temple. I believe it was in early 1972. She was always wild and crazy. The photo of her on the site has her looking unhappy. I rarely saw her without a smile. She was always on the run, and would hand out quick hugs and keep on running. In Jonestown, she worked with the animals in the piggery. She always seemed to be delighted by them. It was almost like she found a place. She was always a very hard worker. She could have leaped around with animals, or run around with them. And then, become more human and just be Elaine. She was fun to watch and to interact with. Her delight was contagious and you could not help but smile along with her. ” - Laura Johnston Kohl
