“I honor you and my friendship with your mom. I know, you are loved. ” - Susan White Hicks

“Al, you were my first-born son and my second child. Today you would have celebrated your forty-seventh birthday. You were such a wonderful son. As a little boy you often amazed me with your sense of responsibility. You were independent, honest and sometimes headstrong, yet you were warm, loving and giving. At eighteen years old you were already the son that most mothers could only dream of having. Thank you. I miss you so very, very much and hope you know how much I loved you and still love you. Mom ” - Juanell Smart

“Al, you will always be in my heart! we used to hang out at sunday school before the main service started and clown around being the youngsters we were, and you took the lead and kept everyone in line, and we respected you greatly. as I lay here in tears writing this, many old feelings and memories are surfacing and it makes sad, glad, angry, and mad. sad that I will never get to be with you again, glad that i had the chance to know you and be your friend and spend part of my life growing up with you, angry for what that evil man did to you, and mad because I loved you all so much that I was used to you being in my life and I was robbed of that be a 5150 with demonic followers. Rest in peace Alfred, and may god be with you always my friend. ” - Frank W. Garrett

“Al you were a good friend and a funny person. You will always be in my heart. May god always be with you. ” - freddie morrison

“So sad. He was one year younger then my son who is 19 now. What a senseless death to so many wonderful vibrant young people who had a bright future. Why would anyone bring their innocent child to such a horrible place...Shameful. ” - Anonymous

Somewhere Out There: My Memories of Teri, Scott, and Alfred Smart” - Carla Moyer Hotz

“I first met Alfred in 10th grade (Sylmar High School) and he was one of the nicest people I had ever met. He wasn't like your normal 15 year old boy who like to tease people or laugh at them because they may not be as fortunate as other kids who had nice clothes or money to buy lunch. He was the type who would uplift you and offer to buy you lunch. I always liked to talk to Al because he always talked about positive things. When I had found out what happened to him once we graduated high school, there was a big empty feeling inside me. Alfred was taken away from us way too soon but I know he's resting peacefully now and I'm glad that the Lord blessed me to meet him and know him the way I did. Love you, my brother.” - shawdogg747@gmail.com
