“Vernetta and Robert Christian had two children, Tina, 9, and Robert II, 8. In their arrival order in Guyana, Robert went first, on 7/1/1977, followed on 7/23 by his wife and children. He was a civil engineer and sanitation specialist. The aptly named Christians, with Vernetta born on Christmas Day, were an incredibly close and loving professional family, recently relocated to the SF Bay Area, as both children were born in Houston, TX. They may have moved to SF after attending one of our on-the-road services in Houston. Vernetta was its driving force and in Jonestown, both she and her husband were teachers. Vernetta served as secretary for the Judicial Council and the Legislative Steering Council. She was also a healthcare services auditor, and taught political enlightenment in the school, a department her husband co-chaired. ” - Kathryn Barbour
