“Ellihue Dennis was the oldest son of Orde and Eddie Dennis. He was a year younger than me, but he looked and acted a lot older, and I always assumed he and Eddie were brothers, instead of father and son. Ellihue, last in his family to arrive in Guyana, joined his parents and his brothers, Ronnie Dennis, 16, Gabriel Dennis, 10, and his adopted brother Kenny Reed, 18. He also joined his companion, Carol McCoy (aka Carol Dennis), 33, and her four children, Patty, 14, Lowell Jr, 12, Leanndra, 9 and Marcenda, 8. At Jonestown, Ellihue was a diesel mechanic and drove the tractor. (All vehicles in Jonestown had diesel engines.) Ellihue was the strong, silent type. He had gravitas, a strong work ethic, and mechanical skills honed in our bus garage, for which he was greatly in demand. He was a kind, devoted and dependable dad to Carol's children, and they all loved him. He also had a child outside the church, with whom he had a strong bond. He was told (as were all members) to write off any blood relatives not in the "cause." I thought he was really good-looking, and found a photo – the third one above – that had been posterized by Don Jackson, who did that effect from time to time with photographs he liked.” - Kathryn (Tropp) Barbour

“Ellihue Dennis is my grandfather. He has one son, who is my father, named Fabian Dennis. Ellihue passed away when my father was just eight years old. My father is currently alive at the age of 50 years old. I would love to hear about any story of my grandfather. Please do not hesitate to send me an email if you have stories to share. I also want to connect more with the Dennis family. If you see this note, please send me an email. I love you so much grandpa, you are my best friend in spirit. ” - Skyla Dennis
