1. In meeting with Assistant Commissioner of Police Roberts on March 15, DCM requested transcripts of testimony of People’s Temple members taken by Guyanese police and, in particular, of Timothy and Michael Carter and Michael Prokes. Borberts [Roberts] acknowledged that he had promised this material to the FBI, regretted that he had not passed it on earlier, and promised it for the following week. On March 24 DCM again spoke with Commissioner Roberts and offered the use of embassy xerox machine and paper if desired. Roberts again apologized and promised that material for early following week. Comment: We will keep trying.<\/p>\n

2. According to Roberts, remaining People’s Temple members<\/p>\n

are not under any surveillance and are free to travel as they choose. Comment: Embassy will continue to be notified by immigration when remaining Temple members leave Guyana. Embassy records show that Temple members remaining in Guyana are: Charles, Michael, and Deborah Touchette<\/span>, Paula Adams, Nedra Yates, Phillip Blakey<\/span> (British Citizen), and Stanley Clayton<\/span> (who has returned to Guyana after a visit to the US). In addition, Lawrence [Laurence] Layton and Charles Beikman remain incarcerated.<\/p>\n
