Part 1<\/p>\n

Jones<\/strong>: Last week a child was brought to us \u2013 two<\/em> children \u2013 that had been ravaged, raped by members of their own so-called family.<\/p>\n

Congregation:<\/strong> (Stirs)<\/p>\n

Jones<\/strong>: We take them in, without money or price. That\u2019s never a condition. An older woman coming up from Los Angeles, got older people coming in all the time, four senior citizen homes that we\u2019re purchasing, a convalescent home that we\u2019re purchasing, a community centre where we baptize\u2013 and we\u2019ll be baptizing again Wednesday night, so many last night after the marvelous healings, made a decision to be born again and converted to this apostolic equalitarian message. And so they\u2019ll be baptized Wednesday night. Uh, the ones that are leaving<\/em> are the ones that need<\/em> me. (Pause) So think about that back there. It\u2019s indeed wonderful to be in the presence of God. And always Jesus is present where his body and believers are together.<\/p>\n

Congregation:<\/strong> (Stirs)<\/p>\n

Jones<\/strong>: So if you would like to participate in the greatest prosperity that you could ever know, follow the suggestions that the Holy Spirit gave us a few days ago, and you\u2019ll see a sign put up no doubt, that says name and address \u2013 it\u2019s up here on this to my left \u2013 and you\u2019re to put your phone number and area phone call, because there\u2019s a prophecy coming. It\u2019s already been given to the congregation, the day, the hour \u2013 to members of it \u2013 the day, the hour, the year, and the minute of a great cataclysm, a great apocalypse that will reach the entirety of this continent, and especially horrible, horrible things will occur to California. And\u2013 except Redwood Valley. And if you wish to receive a prophecy about this, two weeks prior to its happening, you must fill out in this exact fashion. The Holy Spirit spoke it a few days ago, and this is the way. If you don\u2019t like it, then your rebellion, you might as well keep<\/em> your money. We used to not even take<\/em> offerings. And here you find a minister that owns no car, owns no furniture, owns no house, never bought a new pair of shoes, never bought a pair of shoes in my adult life \u2013 never. I\u2019ve worn hand-me-downs in clothes, and I\u2019ve adopted legally eight children of all races. If you don\u2019t want to help with such a thing as that willingly, keep<\/em> it.<\/p>\n

Voices in congregation:<\/strong> (Stirs)<\/p>\n

Jones<\/strong>: Because you\u2019re already responsible. You\u2019re in the presence of truth<\/em> today. And when truth comes your way and you don\u2019t respond to it, you\u2019ll be held guilt\u2013 in guilt for the rest of your days, and in condemnation. So I have no need to take further concern about whether those who are not in the mind<\/em> of Christ wish to behave. I know that some of you here love<\/em> God, and you will give as you have been prospered. Now if you don\u2019t<\/em> give as you\u2019re prospered, don\u2019t\u2013 don\u2019t bother to give at all. Don\u2019t just shove a little offering in there and think it\u2019s finished. You must weigh this out, as the revelation came these few days ago, and now this is the procedure. We used to didn\u2019t even pass plates. It was years we fed the hungry, we have equal Christmases. All children in our Temple get the same Christmas, whether they come from a more advantaged home or a poor home. Every person gets the same birthday in our homes. Last Wednesday night, we had the June birthdays. The preacher here doesn\u2019t get a birthday. It\u2019s a good reverse, it\u2019s time that the people<\/em> got some recognition. No anniversaries in our church. No birthday, anniversaries, no pastor\u2019s appreciation. We have only Christ appreciation, (voice slowly rising) and Christ doesn\u2019t need money to be appreciated. He doesn\u2019t need Cadillacs to be appreciated, and you don\u2019t give the Cadillacs to the preachers just becau\u2013 when you appreciate God. You help those that are hungry. You help those that are naked. You clothe those that are in need, you take those in that are strangers. You feed the hungry. You minister to those that are sick and afflicted (Matthew 25:34-46). Pure religion undefiled<\/em> before God is to minister to the orphans and widows in their affliction. (James 1:27, \u201cPure religion and undefiled before God and the Father is this, To visit the fatherless and widows in their affliction, and to keep himself unspotted from the world.\u201d)<\/span> So if you want to appreciate<\/em> God, you can\u2019t do it by giving a preacher a nice car. Or a preacher\u2019s wife, a pastor\u2019s wife tea. They don\u2019t need to be honored. No flesh shall glory in his presence. (1 Corinthians 1, esp. 1 Corinthians 1:29: \u201cno flesh should glory in his presence.\u201d) We want to glorify God by taking care of his little ones.<\/span><\/p>\n

Voices in congregation:<\/strong> That\u2019s right!<\/p>\n

Jones<\/strong>: Said, Suffer the little children to come unto me, for such is the kingdom<\/em> of heaven. (Matthew 19:14, \u201cJesus said, Suffer little children, and forbid them not, to come unto me: for of such is the kingdom of heaven.\u201d See also Mark 10:14, Luke 18:16)<\/span><\/p>\n

Voices in congregation:<\/strong> (Calls of agreement)<\/p>\n

Jones<\/strong>: (Voice moderates) So open your heart now, and give freely. Give freely, child, because not a penny of it\u2019s going help any human being in a staff or the ministry of this church. (Pauses)<\/p>\n

Jones<\/strong>: (Starts in mid-sentence) \u2013none of them are stealing, none of them are creating violence or lawlessness. None of them use alcohol, none of them use tobacco, so we\u2019re gonna take time with our children.<\/p>\n

Congregation:<\/strong> (Calls)<\/p>\n

Jones<\/strong>: We\u2019re gonna take time with them.<\/p>\n

Congregation:<\/strong> (Calls)<\/p>\n

Jones<\/strong>: Bless them. Bless them. So<\/em> sweet. You\u2019re our very sweet little ones. They never sung with the big choir, and you sang just like big people there \u2013 better<\/em>. Sometimes better<\/em>\u2013 you sang with enthusiasm<\/em>. Just keep your eyes on the choir director in the future. Watch him. Watch him, that he\u2019ll give you a guideline. Thank you. Thank you, sweets.<\/p>\n

Congregation:<\/strong> (Scattered applause)<\/p>\n

(Organ plays softly)<\/p>\n

Jones<\/strong>: Thank you, sweets. You may be seated. (Pause) I wish to say that I am grateful indeed for all of you who have come out, for you that are black who have emancipated yourself from the old store-bought religion, that has been purchased<\/em> and sold to you to keep you in misery and oppression. I\u2019m glad for those of you that have been enlightened<\/em> to recognize that we need to have our own faith, our own vital movement for peace and brotherhood, that we need to get ourselves together. I\u2019m grateful for some of you that have come to the light of truth. And I\u2019m grateful for those that are white who will venture out in a day when \u2013 evidently \u2013 Christianity doesn\u2019t have enough religion to pour water out of a boot.<\/p>\n

Congregation:<\/strong> (Calls)<\/p>\n

Jones<\/strong>: Because you that are white here are the only ones that love God. They would come any place in this Bay Area to see someone that healed those cripped\u2013 decrepit and crippled bones, such as that woman last night, and those that left the crutches, that man back there in the right aisle, and the woman that was on her crutches, and the other that was on her cane \u2013 so many I could not remember \u2013 and the one that came out the wheelchair, they would be so<\/em> glad to come anywhere<\/em> in this Bay Area to see such a man doing the works of God. They would come anywhere<\/em> at any time to behold, as we did last weekend, four<\/em> raised from the dead, right before our eyes. One in the pool, went down in the water. Went down \u2013 an older person \u2013 down under the water, and there was no breath. No breath drawn, there wasn\u2019t a bubble. But I just touched him, and he came back to life with a smile.<\/p>\n

Congregation:<\/strong> (Cheering, applause)<\/p>\n

Jones<\/strong>: (voice rises) These miracles of the ever-presence of God. This that I am doing is being circulated high and low. They\u2019re telling it on the mountains. They\u2019re telling it in the valleys.<\/p>\n

Voices in congregation:<\/strong> (Agrees)<\/p>\n

Jones<\/strong>: There\u2019s not a place around this area that does not know of this one that has come in the name of Jesus, healing the cancers, causing the blind to see, raising the dead, and establishing an apostolic order of freedom and justice where all live together, holding all things in common and sharing in the true spirit of apostolic socialism (Acts 2, esp. Acts 2:44, \u201cAnd all that believed were together, and had all things common.\u201d).<\/span> (Calls out) They know. But sisters and brothers that are white, they will not come, because their God is not big enough to cover color. He is not big<\/em> enough to override their bigotry. The Spirit of God within them that they say is God is not noble<\/em> or loving enough to take in all people. So when they say I am tearing down the churches, it soo\u2013 seems certainly to appear that I need<\/em> to tear down the churches.<\/p>\n

Congregation:<\/strong> (Calls)<\/p>\n

Jones<\/strong>: For the churches have divided the people.<\/p>\n

Congregation:<\/strong> (Calls)<\/p>\n

Jones<\/strong>: They have created racial barriers. They have placed white against black, and black against white, poor<\/em> against the rich. So it is very important, then, that we tear down the lies and the deception and all the institutions that do not propagate virtue and holiness. (Voice moderates) There only a handful of you that are white in this room. It\u2019s a sad commentary on the so-called \u2013 and I emphasize the so-called<\/em> \u2013 church of God. For there\u2019s not one saved that has prejudice in his bones. I mean prejudice of any kind.<\/p>\n

Congregation:<\/strong> (Applause)<\/p>\n

Jones<\/strong>: The fact that you don\u2019t clap shows you\u2019re guilty.<\/p>\n

Congregation:<\/strong> (Delayed applause)<\/p>\n

Jones<\/strong>: (Voice rises) It\u2019s true<\/em> anyhow. You\u2019re afraid to become like little children. There\u2019s a reservation mentally, or emotionally. There\u2019s some\u2013 some port in your portion of spirit, you do not want to be submissive<\/em> to truth. Or you would clap and give acclaim to what you believe.<\/p>\n

Congregation:<\/strong> (Light applause)<\/p>\n

Jones<\/strong>: (Voice moderates) So I shall presume that everyone that believes in equality clap their hands.<\/p>\n

Congregation:<\/strong> (Applause and cheering)<\/p>\n

Jones<\/strong>: I shall say it one more time. Then I will ask you to leave this assembly, because I need the obedience of childlike faith to raise the dead, to heal the blind, and to cure cancers. If you are so arrogant and stubborn that you will not clap your hands that you believe in the equality of all races, I ask you to leave. One more time, I ask you to clap your hands if you believe in brotherhood.<\/p>\n

Congregation:<\/strong> (Applause and cheering)<\/p>\n

Jones<\/strong>: (Speaking loudly) Get out, brother. Get out or clap your hands. Get out up there, sister, or clap your hands. I said \u2013 up there \u2013 ushers, I want them to clap their hands or leave.<\/em><\/p>\n

Congregation:<\/strong> (Applause continues)<\/p>\n

Jones<\/strong>: (Voice moderates) That shows\u2013 that shows, you see\u2013 that shows, you see, the hypocrisy of your own mind. When someone talks to you and you will clap your hands, and then when they don\u2019t, you won\u2019t. Your conviction\u2019s not very deep. Come over where our is\u2013 ours is, and you\u2019ll find it\u2019s very deep indeed.<\/p>\n

Congregation:<\/strong> (Delayed applause)<\/p>\n

Jones<\/strong>: I find it my custom \u2013 and I\u2019ve healed the sick in a Buddhist temple \u2013 I find it my custom when I go into a Buddhist temple, to do exactly what they\u2019re doing. When I go into a Catholic church, I kneel when they kneel. I reverence their house. When I go into a Japanese home \u2013 as I have when I\u2019ve gone into the far West \u2013 the far East, Far West from our standpoint \u2013 when I go into a Japanese home I take my shoes off, for that is their custom.<\/p>\n

Congregation:<\/strong> (Agreement and applause)<\/p>\n

Jones<\/strong>: You are now in the house of Jones.<\/p>\n

Congregation:<\/strong> (Cheers and applause)<\/p>\n

Jones<\/strong>: And that house of Jones is synonymous, as I see it\u2013<\/p>\n

Male voice in congregation:<\/strong> With the house of God.<\/p>\n

Jones<\/strong>: With the house of God. But I did not say that. I said to you first, this that you could<\/em> agree with, it\u2019s a house of Jones, and if you don\u2019t believe it, try as the man was last night, with his knife on him, to try to stand very noxiously and say he wanted a word. Very sweetly<\/em>. But I knew his spirit, and I said, you shall not have a word here. And then he showed himself to be quite other than the spirit of God. As he railed, in his vulgar railing, he showed that I knew before he opened his mouth what spirit he is. As you know, when people stand it\u2019s my custom always to let them speak, but I did not let him speak. And as you saw the people move when he started to show his ugliness, you would at least be able to admit this morning that if you don\u2019t know it\u2019s the house of God, you surely know it\u2019s the house of Jones.<\/p>\n

Congregation:<\/strong> (Cheers and applause)<\/p>\n

Jones<\/strong>: I considered it an insult to any people to go into a church, or an organization, and show ugliness.<\/p>\n

Congregation:<\/strong> (Stirs)<\/p>\n

Jones<\/strong>: They think they\u2019re hip and they haven\u2019t got enough hip to get out of the rain.<\/p>\n

Congregation:<\/strong> (Quiet agreement)<\/p>\n

Jones<\/strong>: You call yourself a hippie, then you oughta be hip<\/em> with the truth. (Speaking over congregation agreement) When you\u2013 when you can\u2019t sit and endure the truth, you are not hip.<\/p>\n

Congregation:<\/strong> (light applause and agreement)<\/p>\n

Jones<\/strong>: You\u2019re crip<\/em>, not hip.<\/p>\n

Congregation:<\/strong> (Stirs, light applause)<\/p>\n

Jones<\/strong>: I\u2019ve got so many of these folks, that they throw their hair up in a twist, and put on a certain gay kind of color like a\u2013 they feel that that is in comp\u2013 in company with the movement of youth, and they call themselves hip. Some of the greatest bigots that ever walked out of here have looked like hippies.<\/p>\n

Voices in congregation:<\/strong> Yeah.<\/p>\n

Jones<\/strong>: Some of the nicest people I know, who\u2019d give the shirt off their back, dress very straight. And some of the loveliest people I know also adorn themselves with the so-called dress of the hippie movement. But I\u2019ve found too many who think they\u2019re hip, and they walk out when a little bit of truth comes their way. (Pause) But, uh, I would say, you know, I used to like beards, and I still can appreciate them because I judge individually. But for all the people who come here with their beards, and showed themselves, they\u2019da been better if they\u2019da put a beard on the other side, it mighta done them more good.<\/p>\n

Congregation:<\/strong> (Light laughter and applause)<\/p>\n

Jones<\/strong>: I mean that we \u2013 you know what I\u2019m talking about \u2013 we\u2019ve had so many that came in wanting to show freedom. They wanted to exercise their freedom, but they hurt others. (Pause) Now this is a fact I\u2019m telling you. We\u2019ve had more people in here \u2013 something you can think about, you\u2013 those that are still left here who believe that they\u2019re\u2013 you\u2019re in the hip or the youth movement or in the freedom movement and the Jesus whatever-you-call-it. They say freaks. I don\u2019t like that word but that\u2019s what you name yourself. So if you want to do honor to that movement, quit showin\u2019 your posterior as you have in every meeting thus far. Everyone that has come in here and disrupted our meetings have been of that movement. They\u2019ve shown a very<\/em> ugly spirit. And if that\u2019s God, I fail to appreciate it. I fail to appreciate what that man tried to do last night, to stand up and take up over a meeting, and to do it so sneaky<\/em>. To be very sweet, hold up a finger \u2013 peace<\/em> \u2013 then to be so sneaky<\/em>. If I had let him talk<\/em>, he would\u2019ve let me be the endorser of his vomit. But I said, for the moment, you<\/em> are not speaking, you\u2019re not interrupting this service. And then you saw all hell break loose in him.<\/p>\n

Congregation:<\/strong> (Murmurs)<\/p>\n

Jones<\/strong>: His words were condemnation. False<\/em> Christ. He spewed out his venom upon us, and reached in for his little weapon. You know they\u2013 they talk about not having any weapon but Christ, but when they get in a corner they always find another weapon.<\/p>\n

Congregation:<\/strong> (Light laughter)<\/p>\n

Jones<\/strong>: I\u2019ve had so many freaks come in here on that nature, that the sheriff said, I think some of your guards should be posted. He said, maybe you can raise yourself<\/em> from the dead, but he said, while you\u2019re busy raising yourself<\/em>, it might be that some other one that would be in difficulty and they need to take care of themselves. So I think it should be posted now, that there are security people that have been given licensing by the Mendocino County Sheriff that are carrying weapons open and obvious. Because this week, I had to stop a bullet that would have killed<\/em> someone else.<\/p>\n

Congregation:<\/strong> (Calls)<\/p>\n

Jones<\/strong>: They got right in our presence and shot\u2013 till the blast\u2013 till the fire was so close we could see the report right from the barrel of it. The person got that close to us. And if had not been for that which I am in the hundred-fold degree of consciousness (ref. to Matthew 13:8, Matthew 13:23; Matthew 19:29; Mark 4:8; Mark 4:20, Mark 10:30; and Luke 8:8),<\/span> somebody would\u2019ve been dead or perhaps more<\/em> than one somebody. \u2018Cause it would\u2019ve gone into a whole crowd of people. (Pause) You see, people who\u2019re around me know that there\u2019s a powerhouse here.<\/p>\n

Congregation:<\/strong> (Calls, then applause)<\/p>\n

Jones<\/strong>: Some time ago\u2013 some time ago the people saw a weapon being discharged. It went right into my chest. Three holes. The nursing personnel put their fingers in it, big as an index finger. But I did not even bother to rest. I got on my feet instantly, and healed the sick, stopped an epileptic seizure on a word of command, and counselled all night long. So I\u2019m not personally concerned, but I thought the sheriff had a point. I might be distracted healing someone else, or keeping the head of this company together, and thus some others are walking around here, that if you think you\u2019re gonna do dirty work\u2013 If you live<\/em> by the sword, you\u2019re liable to find yourself dying by the sword (Matthew 26: 51-52: \u201cAnd, behold, one of them which were with Jesus stretched out his hand, and drew his sword, and struck a servant of the high priest’s, and smote off his ear. Then said Jesus unto him, Put up again thy sword into his place: for all they that take the sword shall perish with the sword\u201d).<\/span><\/p>\n

Voices in congregation:<\/strong> (Calls and applause)<\/p>\n

Jones<\/strong>: (Chuckles) So every time you look at a camera, look twice. (pause) The reason I\u2019m telling that, we got a devil in here thinks he\u2019s gonna do<\/em> something today.<\/p>\n

Congregation:<\/strong> (Stirs)<\/p>\n

Jones<\/strong>: And it\u2019s about\u2013 there\u2019s about eighteen guns fixed on you, brother, \u2018cause I\u2019ve already sent the message.<\/p>\n

Congregation:<\/strong> (Prolonged cheering and applause)<\/p>\n

Jones<\/strong>: Who do you think I\u2013 is afraid of the big bad wolf?<\/p>\n

Congregation:<\/strong> (Calls) (Pause)<\/p>\n

Jones<\/strong>: (Speaks off mic, unintelligible) Okay, now, I just told you. Now everybody knows. And so if you want to\u2013 don\u2019t you be afraid. That\u2013 that person, if he could lose<\/em> that gun, he\u2019d\u2013 he\u2019d\u2013 he\u2019d find a place in his bottom-side to put it, but he can\u2019t right now and he don\u2019t know what to do with it.<\/p>\n

Congregation:<\/strong> (cheering and applause)<\/p>\n

Jones<\/strong>: That\u2019s the first time\u2013 I\u2019m speaking metaphysically, I\u2019m not trying to be ru\u2013 crude<\/em>, I just had that thought, that uh, E.R., he\u2019s trying to, (stumbles over words) he said, he thought, if it wasn\u2019t so big I would put<\/em> it there, but it\u2019s too big.<\/p>\n

Congregation:<\/strong> (Laughter)<\/p>\n

Jones<\/strong>: It\u2019s high time you knew. You may have to do it yet, because people gonna be watching closely at that door, so you better be struggling back there to see if you can get it done.<\/p>\n

Congregation:<\/strong> (Calls and laughter)<\/p>\n

Jones<\/strong>: Don\u2019t you worry. You say, it\u2019s not safe to be around here. Nobody died here.<\/p>\n

Congregation:<\/strong> (Murmurs agreement)<\/p>\n

Jones<\/strong>: (Voice rises throughout) Nobody\u2019s died. This year, twenty-four people have been brought in that were in from the hospital like the one last week. I called her out while I was raising the dead in this assembly, called her out of the hospital, out of the general hospital, she came walkin\u2019 in, in her eighties, been healed. She felt my spirit come to her, and she walked out from her intensive ward, and walked up and down our aisles, saying, Jim Jones came and healed<\/em> me. And I was here, but I was over there at the same time.<\/p>\n

Congregation:<\/strong> (Agreement and applause)<\/p>\n

Jones<\/strong>: (Calls out) So you don\u2019t need to be afraid around here. This is the most safe-guarded place you could know, because the weapons of my warfare are not carnal, but they are mighty to the pulling-down of strongholds (2 Corinthians 10:4, \u201cFor the weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but mighty through God to the pulling down of strong holds\u201d).<\/span> (Pause) (Voice moderates) Some have seen me, and then they have not<\/em> seen me. I was with them once in a gathering of meditations and prayer, and concentration of thought, in a closed room \u2013 the whole staff \u2013 and then I was not there. I was there, and yet then I found myself hundreds of miles away taking care of a blessed one that had been close. So I can be here, there, and everywhere, for I\u2019m representing God. I have crucified my flesh, I am crucified with Christ, nevertheless I live, yet not I \u2013 Jim Jones \u2013 but Christ<\/em> that lives in this body (Galatians 2:20, \u201cI am crucified with Christ: nevertheless I live; yet not I, but Christ liveth in me: and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me, and gave himself for me.\u201d).<\/span><\/p>\n

Congregation:<\/strong> (Calls and applause)<\/p>\n

Jones<\/strong>: So I have made my body a part of the universal mind substance. And if you know anything about universal mind substance, you can aim out of here, and it might be a hundred yards to the right or the left, and you better just watch out what you\u2019re doing. In fact of the matter, I\u2019m going tell you, E.R., if you shoot that gun any<\/em> time \u2013 and you won\u2019t do it today \u2013 you better get rid of that gun, because I am going to make it come out the backside and go through your belly.<\/p>\n

Congregation:<\/strong> (Prolonged cheering and applause)<\/p>\n

Jones<\/strong>: You\u2013 you paid assassin. You that would go about doing the devil\u2019s due. You that would go out for those rascal preachers, and try to kill God\u2019s prophets (ref. to Matthew 23:31-34; also, Luke 13:34, Romans 11:3, I Thessalonians 2:16).For it is written that they tha\u2013 in the last days will kill, even kill<\/em> you, thinking they do God a service (John 16:2, \u201cThey shall put you out of the synagogues: yea, the time cometh, that whosoever killeth you will think that he doeth God service.\u201d).<\/span><\/p>\n

Congregation:<\/strong> (Calls of agreement)<\/p>\n

Jones<\/strong>: If you go out of here afraid, you\u2019re gonna get sick before you go home, sister.<\/p>\n

Congregation:<\/strong> (Calls of agreement)<\/p>\n

Jones<\/strong>: I just think about it. Because I said, I am in the Father, and the Father is in me (John 14:10-11, \u201cBelievest thou not that I am in the Father, and the Father in me? the words that I speak unto you I speak not of myself: but the Father that dwelleth in me, he doeth the works. Though he was a slave, he said he was made perfect through the things that he suffered. He learned obedience through the death and mortification of the cross. And he said, in Philippians 2, for all of you to let this mind<\/em> be in you. Well, I have.<\/span> (Voice rises to full throat) So if the mind is in me, then the body belongs to the body, the body belongs to the mind! I\u2019m going to see the kingdoms of this world become the kingdoms of our God and his Christ. I\u2019m going to see hell give up its dead. I\u2019m going to see capitalism fall to the great apostolic socialism!<\/p>\n

She said, you\u2019re God. And I said, that visualization will heal you. And it caused her to dance around this room like a new\u2013 new child.<\/p>\n

Jones<\/strong>: God didn\u2019t say he was a personality, but he is a principle<\/em>. God is love, and love is the apostolic sharing on the New Testament day of Pentecost. And if you follow that principle, you can have as much of it as you wish to perceive. And the more of God you see in me, the more of God I shall reproduce in you.<\/p>\n

Jones<\/strong>: (Speaking in ministerial fervor) The more of love and socialism you see in me, the more I shall reproduce in you. (Voice moderates) Visualization is the source of harmonization. And harmonization is the source of supply. (Pause) If you\u2019ll take cognizance of my teachings\u2013 and I\u2019m not even begun to teach. Come up to Redwood Valley in our righteous government meeting on Tuesday night \u2013 become a member so you can do that, it\u2019s membership meeting night \u2013 and hear the deeper truths that you\u2019ve not heard in these assemblies. Or come Wednesday night, for the greatest miracles happen when you hear the teachings. When you know the truth, the truth will set you free.<\/span><\/p>\n

Jones<\/strong>: You that have come from your various churches today, your churches average a funeral a week<\/em>. Several funerals a month<\/em>. I don\u2019t average a funeral in five years<\/em>. (Pause) (Full throat) In ten years, I have conducted three funerals outside of the will and the mind of God. In ten years, I have been called on to conduct three funerals, of which were not participants of my spirit. But I have conducted the funeral of no one who knew the mind of Christ that is in me. No member in the nucleus of this family have ever died, because the spirit of resurrection is in this house! The spirit of life is in this house!<\/p>\n

Jones<\/strong>: (Voice moderates slightly, then rises) The spirit of equalitarian socialism. God\u2019s mathematical principle of. God\u2019s mathematical and geometrical principle of. It\u2019s compoundable! It\u2019s reincarnatable! (Voice moderates, then rises) I long ago saw that the sky was everywhere and nowhere. That the heaven in the sky was a nothingness of all nothing. (Voice moderates slightly, then rises) And you could look in the sky for the millions of light years, and you\u2019ll find not one galaxy that has life on it. You can travel at the speed of a hundred and eighty-six thousand miles a second and sweep through space for the next three million light years, and you will not find heaven, because heaven is within you.<\/p>\n

Jones<\/strong>: The kingdom of heaven is here! Said, God is not afar off, but he\u2019s at hand (ref. to Luke 21:29-31).<\/span> (Full throat) Thy kingdom come, I said, in the sonship degree. I\u2019m bringing them together out of their racism! I\u2019m curing them of their blindness, taking their cancers from their bodies, causing the crippled to walk, causing them\u2013 the lame to leap like a hart, causing them to dance for joy (Isaiah 35:4-6). I\u2019m feeding the hungry, clothing the naked, taking in the stranger! (Matthew 25:34-46)<\/span> God<\/em> has come in his fathership degree to heal the world of its wounds.<\/p>\n

What a beautiful sound to have come out, as the sister who has been\u2013 cancer\u2013 her spread all of her body, in the last day\u2013 throes of her treatment haven\u2019t bring that growth out. It\u2019s so wonderful, praise God. Praise God. (Organ music swells, then ends) I\u2019m\u2013 It\u2019s wonderful. (Pause) God almighty. God almighty. That\u2013 I\u2019ve never heard playing like that in my mortal days. (Organ music begins again, with scattered applause) Never, never. I never heard anybody play a horn like that. (Lengthy pause) Making notes, I\u2019m making some notations, things that I have to take care of. I don\u2019t call out everything, so please just keep your minds and attention, love and devotion placed upon Christ. (Pauses) Remember, dears, where your treasure is, there will your heart be also.<\/span> Keep that in mind, as I told you about earlier in my sermon, on my little sermonizing. Yes, for a moment I had my thoughts on a sweater, and it was really good<\/em> that that sweater was spoiled, because we don\u2019t need any place but God to have our treasure (Matthew 6:20-21, esp. Matthew 6:21, \u201cFor where your treasure is, there will your heart be also.\u201d See also Luke 12:34).<\/span> (Hums along with organ music)<\/p>\n

Jones<\/strong>: (Speaks slowly, with organ music in background) Others have asked me, what\u2013 how do you manifest this gift, Jim, I\u2019d like to know how you do it. I can\u2019t give you any direct message of how I do it, but I can tell<\/em> you that there were certain procedures that I\u2019ve followed through the years that have brought it about. Self-denial. Said, if any man would come after me, let him first take up his cross, Jesus said, deny himself<\/em> and take up his<\/em> cross (Matthew 16:24, \u201cThen said Jesus unto his disciples, If any man will come after me, let him deny himself, and\u00a0take\u00a0up\u00a0his\u00a0cross, and follow me\u201d).<\/span> I am as confident, as I sit here, if I owned fancy cars and homes, and dressed in the wasteful manner of many people \u2013 even ministers \u2013 all sorts of flowerly designs and beautiful, beautiful styles, Madison Avenue suits, and Brooks Brothers suits, and alligator shoes and so forth and so on. I\u2019m positive<\/em> that I wouldn\u2019t have this blessing, if I hadn\u2019t adopted\u2013 if I had not adopted eight children through the years.<\/span> Legally. I would\u2019ve not had this gift. Say, what\u2019s that got to do with it? He said, suffer the little children to come unto me, for such is the kingdom of heaven (Matthew 19:14, Mark 10:14, Luke 18:16).<\/span> If daily I didn\u2019t go from my senior citizen homes there on the church property \u2013 one to another \u2013 and see the older ones, and take care of them, I mean really nurse them, not only meditate for them but nurse them. Nothing, nothing that I won\u2019t do. If they have an impaction in their bowels, I take my hands and break it up, break up that impaction, give them an enema, clean it out. Because I know a lot about natural therapies and how to be tender to an older person. Sometimes when they come in to you at first particularly, they\u2013 they\u2019ll have this awful impacted uh, bowel. It\u2019d be just like, uh, big as your fist. And there\u2019s only one way you can break it up, only one way you can break it up, and that\u2019s with your fingers. And I don\u2019t think if I had\u2013 didn\u2019t have that kind of tender loving care that reached out to people when they had that kind of a need \u2013 I\u2019m positive<\/em> if I hadn\u2019t had that kind of love that\u2019s broke up thousand impactions, I\u2019ve gone at least a thousand times with my fingers into their anal area to break up the terrible misery of the\u2013 of the\u2013 of the toxic that\u2019s caused there by the impaction. Give them the enemas, or bathe their feet (John 13)<\/span>. I wouldn\u2019t have this gift. All of it correlates, you see. All of it correlates. You can\u2019t separate me from it, and that\u2019s how\u2013 that\u2019s how it started. Someone asked me back there, said I\u2013 I want\u2013 I\u2019m coming in to what you have. And I hope you are, because certainly it\u2019s needed. But the person that approached me, I had some question about it, whether you were quite ready. I accept all races as one, there\u2019s no respect of persons in God. I don\u2019t acknowledge any color, or national difference. All are one in him (2 Chronicles 19:7, \u201cWherefore now let the fear of the LORD be upon you; take heed and do it: for there is no iniquity with the LORD our God, nor respect of persons, nor taking of gifts.\u201d See also, James 2:1-4).<\/span> And I said, I love every little thing. Every animal, every plant. There\u2019s not a plant I don\u2019t nurture around my place. Not a broken limb that I\u2019m not concerned about. I think it\u2019s feeling. It\u2019s bearing you\u2013 one another\u2019s burdens. Caring, so much that you will take the infirmities upon you. And if you are willing to do that, I think that you can\u2013 maybe not just have as precise a gift as I have in the hundred-fold manifestation, \u2018cause there\u2019s thirty-fold, sixty-fold, one hundred-fold realms in God.<\/span> But I am sure if you<\/em> care, you\u2019ll be a source of healing wherever you go, if you feel for people, if you want to bear their burdens. You may not call them out like I do, and heal them in the exact manner that I do, or raise the dead perhaps, because there are unique apostolic ministries. Not everyone can be in the hundred-fold company immediately. We all come at varying times into our consciousness of Christ, but as in Adam, all die, so in Christ shall all be made alive. But every man after his own order (ref. to Mark 4:20, Matthew 13:8).<\/span> So don\u2019t try to get to the place where I am metaphysically or parapsychologically, or the paranormal faculty, the supernatural faculties. I have all nine gifts, and I have each of the five-fold ministries manifested through<\/em> me (1 Corinthians 12). I\u2019m an apostle, I\u2019m yet a pastor. I\u2019m a teacher, I\u2019m an evangelist, and I certainly<\/em> am a prophet (Ephesians 4:8, 11, \u201cWherefore [Christ] saith, When he ascended up on high, he led captivity captive, and gave gifts unto men\u2026 And he gave some, apostles; and some, prophets; and some, evangelists; and some, pastors and teachers\u201d).<\/span><\/p>\n

Congregation:<\/strong> (Murmurs)<\/p>\n

Jones<\/strong>: (Speaking over congregation agreement) So all of those ministries are in one. And\u2013 That doesn\u2019t make me one bit better than you. It\u2019s my responsibility to use<\/em> those gifts that I have. Those aptitudes and callings are for the edification of the body of Christ, and it\u2019s my duty to express my<\/em> talents and gifts just as you<\/em> are in responsibility to express your gifts and talents (Romans 15).<\/span> No one honours me in the flesh by even giving me a birthday gift or a Christmas gift. I will not permit it. For I believe that no flesh shall glory in the presence of God (1 Corinthians 1:29).<\/span> So that is the reason that we in our Temple have equal birthdays. Each month, we celebrate everyone\u2019s birthday and give them the same gift. Each Christmas, every child gets the same amount of Christmas. Out of the hundreds and thousands in our Temple, they all<\/em> get the same Christmas. And every week, I personally\u2013 rare exceptions, this week I was busy involved in baptizing, we baptized several, nearly fifteen hundred people in the last few weeks, by immersion just in the\u2013 in the\u2013 since May. But this time I did not get to give out, but usually on Wednesday night or\u2013 I will pass out the allowances to every child, and every child in our church gets the same allowance. That\u2019s why there\u2019s no thievery<\/em> amongst the children. That\u2019s why they don\u2019t steal<\/em> from one another. They don\u2019t have<\/em> to. They all have same benefits. One child doesn\u2019t feel threatened by another. And one day we hope to see it that every child will have exactly<\/em> the same amount of money to be spent for clothes. Doesn\u2019t have to dress just like the other fella, but to have the same amount. When a child is secure, when he has what he needs, he will not steal. Our children don\u2019t steal off of us. There\u2019re many churches you can\u2019t go to without someone stealing<\/em> from you. Stealing your purse, taking things from you. But our little fellows know that they\u2019re loved, or they\u2019re learning, the ones that are in the family know that\u2013 that their pastor, that Uncle Jim will be there every week to give them the same allowance that any other child, whether it\u2019s the son of the district attorney or the deputy district attorney \u2013 we have two district attorneys in our church \u2013 or be a medical person, or it could be someone who\u2019s working in the fields. Every<\/em> child gets the same allowance. Now, I\u2019m answering this question \u2018cause you posed<\/em> it. Walking down the aisles, I had several ask me the question. I\u2019ve never bothered to discuss this before. But you wanted to know something of what makes me tick<\/em>, and this is what makes me tick. This feeling of concern for all living things, the feeling that God is not a respecter of persons (2 Chronicles 19:7, James 2:1-4)<\/span>, and the respect of persons is sin (James 2:9, \u201cBut if ye have respect to persons, ye commit sin, and are convinced of the law as transgressors.\u201d).<\/span> The feeling that each one of my members of my uh, senior citizen home must have the same amount of food and vitamins, and bedding, and facilities, and medical care, and spiritual<\/em> care as the next one. The absolute necessity imposed upon me that no child shall be without what he needs. That no member should be without what he needs. That no animal shall go \u2013 in all of our vast territory \u2013 hungry. That\u2019s what makes the hundred-fold come forth in you. Now some of you, who have been apostolic for years, you understand that there\u2019s thirty-fold, sixty-fold, and a hundred-fold. Most churches content themselves only being thirty percent filled with God. That\u2019s not enough God to get you through these times.<\/span><\/p>\n

Congregation:<\/strong> (Brief laughter)<\/p>\n

Jones<\/strong>: Some are satisfied with sixty<\/em>-fold \u2013 the Pentecostal experience, a little deeper. But that\u2019s still only sixty percent God. And then some are pressing on to the prize and the mark of the high calling, which is in Christ Jesus: one hundred percent God (ref. to Mark 4:20, Matthew 13:8).<\/span> Tha\u2013<\/p>\n

Jones<\/strong>: (Begins in mid-sentence) \u2013Gods. That\u2019s what Jesus came to make you realize. And that we are to be, we who are predestined and preordained and who are in his foreknowledge are also preordained to become conformable to the image and likeness of the Son of God. We are to be like Christ in every way (Romans 6). We are to be perfect, even as he and the heavenly father is perfect. The purpose is to be just exactly like God. To be miniature replicas of God Almighty in the earth. (Matthew 5:48, \u201cBe ye therefore perfect, even as your Father which is in heaven is perfect.\u201d) That\u2019s what I have come<\/em> to show you, that you<\/em> can be God and that all<\/em> men can be God, if they will yield<\/em> themselves to the movement of the spirit of truth and will pour<\/em> out mortality, selfishness, and the urge to, uh, gain, accumulate, capitalistic, aggrandizing spirits, if they will eliminate it, God can come in and take over the body.<\/p>\n

Congregation:<\/strong> (Murmurs agreement)<\/p>\n

Jones<\/strong>: Now it\u2019s here today, it can be gone tomorrow. Just because you have the spirit here today doesn\u2019t mean it won\u2019t be gone tomorrow. You\u2019ve got to work at it twenty-four hours a day. (pause) Well, I answered that question, I presume, as best it could be answered. We don\u2019t see enough of each other, you know, darlings, and I feel like we ought to communicate<\/em> a little bit back and forth, so you understand what I believe, what I feel, what I think. I don\u2019t want you to be, uh, harmonizing with me if you don\u2019t, uh, understand what I\u2019m saying. There\u2019s got to be a manifestation of the sons of God. If they\u2019re not a manifestation of the sons of God we\u2019re finished (Ephesians 4:10-12). If we don\u2019t become living epistles, read and known of all men, we are finished (2 Corinthians 3:1-3, \u201cDo we begin again to commend ourselves? or need we, as some others, epistles of commendation to you, or letters of commendation from you? Ye are our epistle written in our hearts, known and read of all men: Forasmuch as ye are manifestly declared to be the epistle of Christ ministered by us, written not with ink, but with the Spirit of the living God; not in tables of stone, but in fleshy tables of the heart.\u201d).<\/span> (Pause) What do we have to look to but the anointing? The Bible tells you that no man can call Jesus Christ except by the Holy Ghost, or the anointing. Christ, the Holy Ghost, the anointing, revolution, whatever word you want to speak of\u2013 That, that spirit, that\u2019s the only way you can know what\u2013 what it\u2013 what exists. You can\u2019t know anything without the Holy Ghost (Acts 10:38, \u201cGod anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Ghost and with power: who went about doing good, and healing all that were oppressed of the devil; for God was with him.\u201d).<\/span> The Bible is not clear. The letter killeth, Second Corinthians 3:16 [2 Corinthians 3:6], says the letter kills. The Bible kills, in other words. Letter to Romans, letter to Corinthians. The Bible kills, but the Spirit<\/em>. What is the Spirit of God? Love. Love maketh alive (2 Corinthians 3:6, \u201c[God] also hath made us able ministers of the new testament; not of the letter, but of the spirit: for the letter killeth, but the spirit giveth life.\u201d).<\/span> (Pause) See, the Bible was written by King James of England, not James the brother of Jesus. It\u2019d be wonderful if it was James the brother of Jesus, but it was written by King James of England. Who was King James? A despot<\/em>. He persecuted the American colonies. He killed the blacks by putting them in the Good Ship Jesus. Sent them here in slavery. Threw mothers out with \u2013 that were pregnant \u2013 outside into the waters for the sharks to eat. I\u2019m talking about the King James of England. I\u2019m going to say very much about this. He persecuted the early Indians. King James can\u2019t show you the way to God. He\u2013 he\u2019s translated this marvellous truth<\/em> that\u2019s there, but he\u2019s also emasculated it somewhat, because anyone knows if your heart is right, if you look at the Bible, just at for instance Matthew 1:16 and Luke 3:23, and trace the genealogy of Jesus. Now if you\u2019re very<\/em> honest, you can\u2019t help but admit what I\u2019m saying\u2019s true. If you trace the birth of Jesus, through Joseph, in Matthew the first chapter and the sixteenth verse, and Luke the third chapter and the twenty-third verse, what do you find? One place Jesus\u2019 father\u2019s Joseph, and the other place it is also Joseph. But what about the grandfather? One place says his grandfather was Mathan. The other one says his grandfather was what? Matthat. M-a-t-t-h-a-t, as opposed to M-a-t-t-h-a-n (Matthew 1:15-16, \u201cMatthan begat Jacob; And Jacob begat Joseph the husband of Mary, of whom was born Jesus, who is called Christ\u201d; Luke 3:23-24, \u201cAnd Jesus himself began to be about thirty years of age, being (as was supposed) the son of Joseph, which was the son of Heli, Which was the son of Matthat\u2026\u201d). But it gets even worse<\/em> as you go on. You trace him on back to Abraham, and in one place he\u2019s got fifteen more grandparents than he does in the other (Matthew 1:1-17, contrasted with Luke 3:23-28).\u00a0<\/span>(Pause) You know it\u2019s true. (Voice rising) If you never stopped to think about those things\u2013 Say, well, it doesn\u2019t bother me. Well, it\u2019s bothering your children. That\u2019s how the colleges are defeating<\/em> the faith that was once delivered to the saints (Jude 1:3, \u201cBeloved, when I gave all diligence to write unto you of the common salvation, it was needful for me to write unto you, and exhort you that ye should earnestly contend for the faith which was once delivered unto the saints.\u201d).<\/span> They show the exposures of the dead letter. Errors of the dead letter. That\u2019s why you have to have the Holy Ghost to show you what\u2019s true, and what\u2019s error. That\u2019s why I said, how can you hear without a preacher, how can he preach lest he be sent (Romans 10:14-15, \u201cHow then shall they call on him in whom they have not believed? and how shall they believe in him of whom they have not heard? and how shall they hear without a preacher? And how shall they preach, except they be sent?\u201d). Faith doesn\u2019t come by reading, but faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God (Romans 10:17, \u201cSo then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.\u201d). What is the word of God? Just gettin\u2019 up and preachin\u2019 about heaven? That\u2019s not the word of God. The word of God\u2019s what I did a while ago with the woman\u2013<\/span> there\u2019s been three cancers here (stumbles over words) that\u2019ve been told the intents and thoughts of their minds,<\/span> and there\u2019re three cancers passed here today.<\/p>\n

Jones<\/strong>: What did it say, Hebrews 4:12 said the Word of God was? Said, it was sharper<\/em> than two-edged sword, to the dividing the bone and the marrow (Hebrews 4:12, \u201cFor the word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any twoedged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.\u201d).<\/span> And that\u2019s what you saw when the woman\u2019s hand was like this, and her leg was bent over, and she ran like a child.<\/p>\n

Jones<\/strong>: That\u2019s what you saw this very day, this very week. That\u2019s what you saw when the cripples marched around with their, uh, wheel\u2013 wheel\u2013 their\u2013 left their wheelchairs and had their crutches in hand to look like a parade on July fourth. You saw the Word dividing the bone from the marrow, and<\/span> \u2013 now listen closely, listen closely \u2013 then the Word of God is<\/span> \u2013 listen closely over there, somebody that needs to hear it. It\u2019s a discerner of the thought, Hebrews 4:12 said, and it knows the intents of the heart.<\/span> Here I told people things about their life. I told them about loved ones that they\u2019d never spoke to anyone else. I told them about people that\u2019d gone, when<\/em> they\u2019d gone. I told someone about things that only would be in her mind, when (stumbles over words) she\u2019d grown flowers years ago. Only in her mind. Now that\u2019s what the word of God is, and unless that comes into the church, your young people are going to read Mark Twain who shows the Bible in the Letters to the Earth<\/em> to be full of errors. Or it\u2019s gonna go into Common Sense<\/em> with Age of Reason<\/em>, written by Thomas Paine, who was one of the founding fathers of this country, he shows the Bible to be full<\/em> of contradictions. And if you don\u2019t have the power<\/em> of the anointing, people, you\u2019re gonna lose your children.<\/p>\n

Voices in congregation:<\/strong> That\u2019s right.<\/p>\n

Jones<\/strong>: Say, I\u2013 I don\u2019t need, I\u2013 I take it by faith. Children aren\u2019t doing it anymore. (Claps once) They\u2019ve got to know<\/em> what they\u2019re doing, they\u2019ve got to believe<\/em> in what they\u2019re doing, they\u2019ve got to study<\/em> to show themselves or prove rightly dividing the word of truth<\/em>. Now, some think that\u2019s rightly dividing King James. Well, in part, that is<\/em>, but also truth comes out of prophets today. (Voice rises to ministerial fervor) The Word of God is still proceeding out of the mouth of God (Matthew 4:4, \u201c\u00a0It is written, Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of God.\u201d See also, Deuteronomy 8:3), the Word of God is still being made flesh today. I am bringing the Word of God out of this body right here in this atmosphere today (John 1:14, \u201cAnd the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth.\u201d),<\/span> that healed cancers, and cause crippling diseases to be removed.<\/p>\n

Jones<\/strong>: (Voice moderates slightly, then rises to ministerial fervor) Now you that wanna har\u2013 uh, harness me back there, while\u2013 before I get in the door, about what I believe. And you want to harass me. Now, if King James doesn\u2019t know who Jesus\u2019 grandfather is, why are you worried about the letter<\/em>? What you need is the spirit<\/em>, and the spirit is love. God is love. Whosoever loveth is born of God (1 John 5:1, \u201cWhosoever believeth that Jesus is the Christ is born of God: and every one that loveth him that begat loveth him also that is begotten of him.\u201d).<\/span> If I come<\/em> with love, healing<\/em> the sick, raising<\/em> the dead, you don\u2019t have a thing to worry about \u2013 it\u2019s God<\/em>! You can\u2013 There nothing for you to worry about. You don\u2019t have anything to worry about!<\/p>\n

Jones<\/strong>: (Voice moderates) All good and perfect gifts come down from the Father above\u2013 lights, whom there\u2019s no shadow of variableness nor turning. (James 1: 17, \u201cEvery good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and cometh down from the Father of lights, with whom is no variableness, neither shadow of turning.\u201d)<\/span> You have nothing to fear, because the other fella does not create love but he is a destroyer from the beginning. And it says, he will appear as an angel of light, and\u2013 in the Hebrew, that says he will camouflage as an angel of light (2 Corinthians 11:14, \u201cSatan himself is transformed into an angel of light.\u201d).<\/span> The Devil can never do a good thing. Whatever you call the Devil, it never healed one sick soul, it never fed one hungry child, it never took in one needy person, it never raised one dead person. Never. So you don\u2019t have a thing to fear. If love is present, then it\u2019s God. (pause) (Conversational tone, then rises) I hope you get the message. Some of you are so traditionalized. You are bound by the letter \u2018til you judge everybody<\/em> and everything<\/em> by your little knothole. You miss<\/em> God because you\u2019re gonna listen to what King James of England said, who murdered little children, who was an alcoholic. King James of England, 1611, right there in your book. He was the drunkenest king that there was in England.<\/p>\n

Jones<\/strong>: He was a drunk. (Speaking slowly, pauses between phrases) Well now, are you saying that, uh, uh, that the truth is not there? Yes, it\u2019s there, but what did I say? How can you hear without a prophet, as it says originally, how can he prophesy lest he be sent (Romans 10:14-15). Didn\u2019t say you were saved by the foolishness of reading the Bible, it said you are saved by the foolishness of<\/span> (pauses for effect) preaching (1 Corinthians 1: 20-21, \u201cWhere is the wise? where is the scribe? where is the disputer of this world? hath not God made foolish the wisdom of this world? For after that in the wisdom of God the world by wisdom knew not God, it pleased God by the foolishness of preaching to save them that believe.\u201d). The man or woman that you\u2019re sitting under doesn\u2019t have the gifts of the spirit, doesn\u2019t have the fruits of the spirit, doesn\u2019t love children, doesn\u2019t take in the needy, doesn\u2019t heal the sick, doesn\u2019t minister to the needs of humanity, I\u2019d get outta that church (1 Corinthians 12), \u2018<\/span>cause you don\u2019t need anybody just stand up reading to you out of the dead letter, because the Bible kills, but the spirit makes alive (2 Corinthians 3:6).<\/span><\/p>\n

Jones<\/strong>: Now it\u2019s just as plain as the nose on your face, if you\u2019ll face it. \u2018Cause all through, I\u2019ve got a little booklet back there that, uh \u2013 The Letter Killeth<\/a><\/em>, and it\u2019s\u2013 uh, we never let money stand in your way, if you wish it \u2013 and I composed to show you some of the great<\/em> truths in the Bible. (Voice rising) Say, how do you know what\u2019s truth? How do I know when a person\u2019s got cancer? How do I know what medicines they\u2019re taking? How do I know what food<\/em> they\u2019re eating? How do I know what they\u2019re thinking<\/em>? Then if I know what you\u2019re thinking, (in full throat) I should know what is truth<\/em> and what is error<\/em>!<\/p>\n

Jones<\/strong>: Because it\u2019s the Word! It\u2019s the Word that\u2019s here.<\/span> (Voice moderates slightly) The Word that\u2019s sharper than a two-edged sword. I am fulfilling Hebrews 4:12.<\/span> I\u2019m living in the consciousness of the ever-presence of God. The actual conscious presence of God is the Word. The Word was with God and the Word was God (John 1:1, \u201cIn the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.\u201d),<\/span> and the Word was made flesh. It\u2019s never been taken out of the flesh. The Word has always been in the flesh! (John 1:14) He said, Lo, I am with you always even until the end of the world (Matthew 28:20, \u201c\u2026lo, I am with you always, even unto the end of the world. Amen.\u201d). I will not leave you nor forsake you, even unto the end of the world (Hebrews 13:5, \u201c\u2026for he hath said, I will never leave thee, nor forsake thee.\u201d).<\/span> Is it not true?<\/p>\n

Jones<\/strong>: Why, after Jesus was buried and put in the tomb, he wasn\u2019t in the tomb \u2013 hmm? \u2013 just a matter of a hours\u2013 just a matter of hours. And Mary come walkin\u2019 out of the tomb, sorrowful and depressed in heart. Lowly in spirit. Depressed about the fact that they had laid her savior in the tomb. And she met a man by the way, the scripture says \u2013 didn\u2019t it say it?<\/span><\/p>\n

Jones<\/strong>: She talked to this man by the way, and told him \u2018bout how her savior\u2019d been taken from her, and he was in the tomb. And Mary thought it was who?<\/span><\/p>\n

Voices in congregation:<\/strong> Gardener.<\/p>\n

Jones<\/strong>: (Voice rising to ministerial fervor) The Gardener. She said it was the gardener, but your Bible says it was Jesus Christ. He didn\u2019t look the same<\/em>, because Mary had been with him. (John 20:14-16)<\/span> She\u2019d (Voice drops, then rises) bathed his feet, she\u2019d supped with him for three years. She\u2019d had him in her home, Mary and Martha had entertained him. But that same Jesus, that same spirit, that same anointing, had taken on another body, and she didn\u2019t recognize him because she was looking for the same kind of hair and the same color of eyes and the same gestures, and thus she didn\u2019t know the\u2013 (Voice drops) the mind of God. The word means mind. She failed to realize (taps pulpit while speaking) that God had already picked up another body, and she was so mixed up she called it the gardener. (In full throat) God always has had a body, God always will have a body, he\u2019s never been without a body, and he always will<\/em> have a body!<\/p>\n

Congregation:<\/strong> (Calls and applause)<\/p>\n

Jones<\/strong>: (Voice moderates, speaking away from microphone) The temple of the Holy Ghost, it\u2019s simple enough what I preach. He said, know you not that you are the temple of the Holy Ghost. That your bodies are the tabernacle of God. (Returns to microphone) That means you\u2013 the temple means that you are God\u2019s body<\/em>. Now you\u2019d look very funny<\/em> if you, uh, had the body of a frog if you didn\u2019t have the head<\/em> of a frog.<\/p>\n

Jones<\/strong>: (Voice rises to ministerial fervor) If you\u2019ve got the body of God, then you\u2019ve got the mind<\/em> of God. You won\u2019t have the body of God until you have the mind<\/em> of God. He said, let this mind be in you which was also in Christ Jesus who, being in the form of God, considered<\/em> it not robbery to be equal with God. That\u2019s the mystery<\/em> of which I have come to bring, to entertain your thoughts and aspirations, to enter into. Note<\/em> what he said \u2013 to all<\/em> of us \u2013 in Philippians 2, let this mind be in you which was also in Christ Jesus who, being in the form of a slave \u2013<\/span> (voice moderates) (Philippians 2:5-8). Jesus come out of Nazareth. No good thing ever came out of Nazareth. No good thing ever came out of Nazareth. (John 1:46, \u201cAnd Nathanael said unto [Philip], Can there any good thing come out of Nazareth? Philip saith unto him, Come and see.\u201d). But he said,<\/span> (speaking slowly and deliberately) who, being in the form of a slave, considered it not robbery to be equal with God. Why has the church neglected this marvellous truth? Go home and read that, study that, think of that. Jesus who, being in the form of a servant \u2013 that\u2019s slave \u2013 <\/strong>considered it not robbery to be equal with God.<\/span> (Voice rising to full throat) That\u2019s what you\u2019ve gotta start thinking. You\u2019re not\u2013 though you may be poor, though you may be the down-and-outs, though you may be the lowliest of low, you\u2019ve got to say I consider it not robbery to be equal with God in every phase of my life (Philippians 2:5-8).<\/span><\/p>\n

Congregation:<\/strong> (Scattered applause)<\/p>\n

Jones<\/strong>: (Voice moderates) And that\u2019s what I did. I prayed to the sky when I was a child, when I was by the railroad tracks, and nobody ever came out of the sky to help you. And God\u2019s not a god that\u2019s afar off, but at hand. Kingdom of heaven\u2019s within you<\/em>. (Luke 17:20-21, \u201cThe kingdom of God cometh not with observation: Neither shall they say, Lo here! or, lo there! for, behold, the kingdom of God is within you.\u201d) Paul said, Don\u2019t say in your heart, who shall ascend into heaven and bring him down and who shall descend into the deep and bring him up from the dead? But what sayeth it? The word is nigh<\/em> thee, even in your mouth<\/em> and in your heart! (Romans 10: 6-8, \u201cBut the righteousness which is of faith speaketh on this wise, Say not in thine heart, Who shall ascend into heaven? (that is, to bring Christ down from above:) Or, Who shall descend into the deep? (that is, to bring up Christ again from the dead.) But what saith it? The word is nigh thee, even in thy mouth, and in thy heart: that is, the word of faith, which we preach.\u201d)<\/span> There\u2019s where God is! While I was laying on that cold, cold northwestern bed, when the icicles used to just form on it in the mid-winter, (Voice moderates) you could see through the roof<\/em>. People died around me when I prayed in the old-fashioned sense of tradition. I\u2019d look to the sky. You can\u2019t look to the sky for help. I quit lookin\u2019 to the sky. I lost my grandfather, because this society\u2013 this society\u2019s an evil<\/em>society. If you\u2019ve got money, you get things, if you don\u2019t have money, you don\u2019t get anything.<\/p>\n

Congregation:<\/strong> (Murmurs agreement)<\/p>\n

Jones<\/strong>: Time my grandfather was dying in my lap, I was just a child, lying beside me. We\u2019d called for the\u2013 the doctor to come \u2013 Dr. Parker \u2013 to come and minister to him. His kidneys had failed, and all he needed was a shide of\u2013 shot of mercurhydrin. He could\u2019ve been rejuvenated. But who were\u2013 the doctor was over on Millionaire Avenue, in Lynn, Indiana \u2013 that\u2019s the city where I was born, over on Lynn, Indiana \u2013 the doctor was over there entertaining one of the rich members of the city who had a carbuncle<\/em>. He was lancing a carbuncle. He said no<\/em>, he couldn\u2019t come. When I ran to the doctor, he said, no, I can\u2019t come, I\u2019m too busy. He was busy taking care of the rich. That\u2019s the way it is<\/em> in this society. If you got money, you get taken care of. And I prayed and I prayed and nobody came. (Claps hands, voice rising) Finally, something said look within<\/em>, child, look within<\/em>. And ever since that time, when I was just a knee-high to a grasshopper, just a little shaver, ever since those seven and eight years of age, I quit lookin\u2019 up and I started lookin\u2019 in, now nobody ever has died in my midst.<\/p>\n

Congregation:<\/strong> (Applause)<\/p>\n

Jones<\/strong>: (Speaking in ministerial fervor over congregation cheering) Anybody that comes to me dead is resurrected. Anybody that is sick and dying, I touch them and they\u2019re healed. (In full throat) I don\u2019t look up to the sky to bring God down, I don\u2019t go down to the deep to bring him up from the dead, I just let him come out from within me! (Romans 10: 6-8) And he heals the sick, and he raises the dead, and it cures the blinded eye, and it causes the crippled to walk, and the lame to leap like a hart (Matthew 15:30-32, Luke 7: 21-22; see also Isaiah 35 35:4-5)<\/span>, (voice moderates abruptly) oh yes, God almighty.<\/p>\n

Congregation:<\/strong> (Cheers and applause)<\/p>\n

Jones<\/strong>: I found out where God was. And I\u2019m trying to teach you where God is. For as I am, so shall you be, it is written (John 14:20, \u201cAt that day ye shall know that I am in my Father, and ye in me, and I in you.\u201d).<\/span> We ought to be one with him. That\u2019s why they don\u2019t want us to come to Seattle. They want you to have to come up and listen to that preacher, open that black book that kills. They want you to do that every Sunday and give him money, so he can ride around in a nice new car, while you barely keep body and soul together. He not gonna give you any life. If he was a true church \u2013 that\u2019s why I said there\u2019s no church in Seattle \u2013 if it\u2019s a true church, it\u2019ll take care of first the household of the faith (Galatians 6:10, \u201cAs we have therefore opportunity, let us do good unto all men, especially unto them who are of the household of faith.\u201d).<\/span> It\u2019ll have its own sanitorium, even as I do. It\u2019ll have its own senior citizen homes, even as I do. It\u2019ll have its own orphanage home, children\u2019s home, even as I do. It\u2019ll have its own dormitories for its young people to be educated, even as I do. (Voice rising) That\u2019s why I said I don\u2019t know if you\u2019ve got any church here, I don\u2019t know of anyone. I don\u2019t think there\u2019s a church in Seattle. There\u2019s no church here that\u2019s got a\u2013 Truth anyhow, it may hurt, it may pinch your toes, but it\u2019s the truth anyhow, brothers.<\/p>\n

Congregation:<\/strong> (Scattered murmurs, applause)<\/p>\n

Jones<\/strong>: (Voice moderates, taps pulpit) Building. You think buildings\u2013 where in the New Testament they ever have a building? They went to the house of Chloe and they went to the house of this one and the house of that one. They went from house to house breaking bread (1 Corinthians 1:10-11, \u201cNow I beseech you, brethren, by the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that ye all speak the same thing, and that there be no divisions among you; but that ye be perfectly joined together in the same mind and in the same judgment. For it hath been declared unto me of you, my brethren, by them which are of the house of Chloe, that there are contentions among you.\u201d).<\/span> They didn\u2019t go into great big cathedrals, and where they had nice organs and comfortable pews, and an old stony building, as as mackerel where they used that one hour on Sunday. You\u2013 What are you talkin\u2019 about the church? You don\u2019t know anything about church. You\u2019ve got a lot of reason to question me. I\u2019m living<\/em> Christianity.<\/p>\n

Congregation:<\/strong> (Calls)<\/p>\n

Jones<\/strong>: You oughta just walk on and follow in my example, because I\u2019m living<\/em> the words of Jesus. (In full throat) Say, you want to know what I preach. What\u2019s the difference what I preach? It\u2019s what I live<\/em>! I\u2013 While you\u2019re preaching Christ, I\u2019m going about, from city to city, living<\/em> Christ in deeds and actions! I\u2019m letting Christ have a body! I\u2019m letting God be personified! I\u2019m letting God be tabernacled in the earth! (Pauses, voice moderates as congregation quietens) Got all kinds of teachers. Got all kinds of traditions. Got churches on every corner, each saying something else. As I said in our magazine, so very, very true. By the way, you can get the magazine. We appreciate it if you pay for it, if you can\u2019t, we\u2019ll let you have it. It\u2019s like the old tho\u2013 sought: there\u2019s water, water everywhere, but there\u2019s not a drop to drink.<\/p>\n

Jones<\/strong>: Got baptistries in every corner, and you\u2019ve got all kinds of water, but it\u2019s polluted<\/em>. If you drink it, you\u2019d\u2013 you\u2019ll\u2013 you\u2019ll poison<\/em> yourself. So there\u2019s water, water everywhere, and not a drop to drink. It\u2019s just like I said in the magazine, it\u2019s churches\u2013 if there\u2019s three churches on a corner, they oughta sing these songs, because that\u2019s certainly what they act like. One singing \u201cWill There Be Any Stars In My Crown?\u201d, the other church across the way says, \u201cNo, Not One,\u201d and the other church over on the other corner says, \u201cOh, That Will Be Glory For Me.\u201d<\/p>\n

Congregation:<\/strong> (Laughter)<\/p>\n

Jones<\/strong>: (Voice rising over laughter and applause) That\u2019s the attitude. That\u2019s the attitude of churches today. Fight. (Pauses while applause continue) Send each other to hell over they\u2013 they strain at a gnat and swallow a camel (Matthew 23:24-25, \u201cWoe unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! for ye pay tithe of mint and anise and cummin, and have omitted the weightier matters of the law, judgment, mercy, and faith: these ought ye to have done, and not to leave the other undone. Ye blind guides, which strain at a gnat, and swallow a camel.\u201d).<\/span> Feud and fight over one little jot and tittle. One little issue. They\u2019re going to\u2013 arguing with someone back there wanted to say, Do you believe you\u2019re gonna go up in the rapture before the tribulation? I said, What do you wanna know that for? Said, It\u2019s very important to me. I can\u2019t be here if you don\u2019t tell me. I said, Well, brother, if that\u2019s all the ba\u2013 reason you\u2019ve come, to find out whether I\u2019m\u2013 I believe in the rapture before the tribulation or after the tribulation, you\u2019re not gonna get any good out of this service anyway. I never saw so many people ask me questions, just one right after another. Soon as I hit this place. You\u2013 you worried about little old puny things. You strain at gnats, and you swallow camels (Matthew 23:24-25). I personally<\/em> believe you\u2019re not gonna get raptured until you go through the tribulation, but that doesn\u2019t make any difference one way or the other.<\/span> (Speaking faster, voice rising) Tribulation works with patience, patience experience, experience hope (Romans 5:2-4, \u201cBy whom also we have access by faith into this grace wherein we stand, and rejoice in hope of the glory of God. And not only so, but we glory in tribulations also: knowing that tribulation worketh patience; And patience, experience; and experience, hope.\u201d). Said, if it were not for the elect\u2019s sake and the day is shortened, there would be no flesh saved. If the elect are some place up in the sky, why do the days have to be shortened for their sake? (Mark 13:19-20, \u201cFor in those days shall be affliction, such as was not from the beginning of the creation which God created unto this time, neither shall be. And except that the Lord had shortened those days, no flesh should be saved: but for the elect’s sake, whom he hath chosen, he hath shortened the days.\u201d)<\/span> I personally believe we\u2019re in the tribulation right now. I think it has begun, I think we\u2019re right in the tribulation now, and I don\u2019t think there\u2019s gonna be any<\/em> translation until we\u2019re first perfected, \u2018til we go through tribulation (Hebrews 10).<\/span> (Voice moderates) But what\u2019s the difference? What<\/em> is the difference? You know. If we have love, we are his disciples. He said, by this shall all men know that you are my disciples, because you have\u2013<\/span><\/p>\n

Voice in congregation:<\/strong> Love.<\/p>\n

Jones<\/strong>: \u2013love one for another (John 13:34-35, \u201cA new commandment I give unto you, That ye love one another; as I have loved you, that ye also love one another. By this shall all men know that ye are my disciples, if ye have love one to another.\u201d).<\/span> (Brief pause) Well, I hope I\u2019ve said enough to stir up your pure minds. And I wish<\/em> you\u2019d quit trying to judge me by the dead letter, \u2018cause the dead letter without someone such as I in the prophetic anointing, you cannot even hear<\/em>without me. How can you hear without a preacher (Romans 10:14-15), faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the Word of God (Romans 10:17).<\/span> So quit<\/em> worrying about the dead letter. The dead letter doesn\u2019t even know where Jesus went after he was born. One writer says he went into Egypt to flee from Herod. Another gospel writer \u2013 because King James has got it mixed up \u2013 said he stayed every year in the\u2013 Jerusalem and kept the feast of the Passover (Matthew 2 contrasted with Luke 2:41, \u201cNow his parents went to Jerusalem every year at the feast of the passover.\u201d).<\/span> Don\u2019t you argue. Don\u2019t nod your head until you read it. Better go and read it. (Voice rising) You\u2013 you prove to me where Jesus ascended to. Can you prove to me which mountain he ascended from? There\u2019s two different mountains named in the Bible as to where Jesus ascended, and one imper\u2013 impression is that he ascended from the Last Supper (According to The Letter Killeth<\/em>, Christ ascended from four different places: From Bethany Luke (24:50-51); From Mount Olivet (Acts 1:9,12); From Galilee (Matt 28:16-20); From a house in Jerusalem (Mark 16:14,19).).<\/span> I\u2019m losin\u2019 a lot of folk here \u2018cause they don\u2019t like the truth. Truth sets you free.<\/p>\n

Jones<\/strong>: You shall know the truth, but the truth shall set you free. And you don\u2019t want the truth, \u2018cause you don\u2019t wanna get free<\/em> (John 8:32).<\/span> You want\u2013 you\u2013 you know why most people like their little narrow knotholes? They wouldn\u2019t feel comfortable if they didn\u2019t have a hell to dangle somebody over.<\/p>\n

Male voice in congregation:<\/strong> That\u2019s right.<\/p>\n

Jones<\/strong>: That\u2019s true. (Pause) Just lost\u2013 just lost one there. He\u2013 he\u2013 he would be uncomfortable if he didn\u2019t have a hell to dangle somebody over. \u2018Cause he\u2019s got it all figured out, how he\u2019s gonna dangle everybody over hell he doesn\u2019t like. He didn\u2019t get saved because he loved people, he got saved because he hated<\/em> people. He took great joy in sending this one to hell and that one to hell, and (stumbles over words) take great joy in the fact that he\u2019s going to heaven and others are going to hell. (Voice rising) Well, as for me and my house, I see the greater truths of the Bible that\u2019ve eluded<\/em> King James. I see things there that are so vast and so beautiful\u2013 He said, as in Adam, all die, so in Christ shall all be made alive. That\u2019s\u00a0<\/em>what I<\/em> dwell on. I don\u2019t see anybody gonna have to be left outside of the Ark of God\u2019s covenant. No (Ark of the Covenant in several places, including Genesis 6, Numbers 10, Numbers 14, and Deuteronomy 10:8).<\/span> (Pause) (speaks quietly, them climbs) Jesus said, the heavens will contain him until the time of restitution of all things spoken by the prophet (Acts 3:20-21, \u201cAnd he shall send Jesus Christ, which before was preached unto you: Whom the heaven must receive until the times of restitution of all things, which God hath spoken by the mouth of all his holy prophets since the world began.\u201d).<\/span> Said, Jesus said, he saw the travail of his soul and was satisfied (reference in Isaiah, Isaiah 53:11, \u201cHe shall see of the travail of his soul, and shall be satisfied: by his knowledge shall my righteous servant justify many; for he shall bear their iniquities.\u201d). He said, if I be lifted up, I\u2019ll draw all men unto me (John 12:31-32, \u201cNow is the judgment of this world: now shall the prince of this world be cast out. And I, if I be lifted up from the earth, will draw all men unto me.\u201d). I tell you that God through the scripture tells you that Cornelius was saved in his household. Was it not?<\/span><\/p>\n

Jones<\/strong>: (Voice rising to full throat) God saved Cornelius in his household. The apostle said, this is a promise, that he\u2019ll save you in your household. Let me tell you, if God would make that promise to that rich Greek and wouldn\u2019t make it to you, he\u2019d be guilty of discrimination. I\u2019m here to tell you that God is gonna save you and your household (Acts 10). He may take his time. It may be not in your<\/em> time, but sooner or later every knee shall bow<\/span> (moves away from microphone) and every tongue shall confess of things on the earth, of things and above the earth, of things under the earth, and all shall acknowledge that he is God! (Romans 14:11-12, For it is written, As I live, saith the Lord, every knee shall bow to me, and every tongue shall confess to God. So then every one of us shall give account of himself to God.\u201d)<\/span><\/p>\n

Jones<\/strong>: (Voice moderates, speaking over congregation) Sure, I won\u2019t get a lot of people. You\u2019ve never heard these things. Uh, some of you\u2013 some of you have\u2013 some of you got deep hearts. (Returns to microphone) There only about fifty<\/em> of you in Seattle, \u2018cause I\u2019ve lost about forty since I started preaching this in the last five minutes.<\/p>\n

Congregation:<\/strong> (hubbub)<\/p>\n

Jones<\/strong>: (Voice rises sharply, then moderates) Why do you want to hold on to a narrow little hell doctrine like you\u2019ve held on to, when you don\u2019t even know who Jesus\u2019 grandfather is? When you don\u2019t know what happened to Jesus when he was baptised with the Holy Ghost? One says he went where? To the wilderness, for forty days. Directly.<\/span> Right?<\/p>\n

Congregation:<\/strong> (agrees)<\/p>\n

Jones<\/strong>: The other one says that three days later he was over at Cana, Galilee, having a good time turning water into the wine. That\u2019s eighty miles from the wilderness (Matthew 4:1-11, contrasted with John 1:29 \u2013 2:11).<\/span> Well, don\u2019t you argue with me, honey, get that yellow book back there, The Letter Killeth<\/em>. You\u2019ve been brainwashed<\/em>, they\u2019ve brain\u2013 they\u2019ve taken your brain and done with it what they want, <\/strong>and you refuse<\/em> to do any thinking. Say, well, how am I to know the truth? You\u2019ll not have to worry, because God\u2019ll always have<\/span> (in full throat) somebody speaking for him! He\u2019ll have somebody that\u2019s anointed! He\u2019ll have manifested sons that will show his works (Romans 8)!<\/span> You<\/em> don\u2019t have to worry about the dead letter. You<\/em> don\u2019t have to live by the letter. But you can live by every word that proceedeth from the mouth of God (Matthew 4:4, Deuteronomy 8:3)!<\/span> You don\u2019t have to worry about that.<\/p>\n

Jones<\/strong>: (Voice moderates) You see what happened if we quit livin\u2019 by the letter. We\u2019d put some of these preachers out of business, and we\u2019d make \u2018em seek<\/em> God and get somethin\u2019 for themselves instead of a dead, dead old tradition. We\u2019d make them have to go back<\/em> to school \u2013 in the school of the Holy Ghost \u2013 and get moved<\/em> on by the Holy Ghost, and get the truth<\/em>of the Holy Ghost, and they wouldn\u2019t be able to stand up and clob\u2013 You say, it\u2019s in the book. It\u2019s in the book. There\u2019s a lot of things in the book, but not necessarily so<\/em>.<\/p>\n

Congregation:<\/strong> (Murmurs)<\/p>\n

Jones<\/strong>: And they stand on what\u2019s in the book<\/em>, and that\u2019s all they got to offer<\/em> you. They wouldn\u2019t feed a child, they wouldn\u2019t adopt a baby, they wouldn\u2019t take in an older person, they wouldn\u2019t go across the street to help somebody that fell down, but they just keep you right under the book. You have got an idol.<\/span> (Taps pulpit) You\u2019ve got a graven image. And he said, have no graven images. This is a graven image. If you don\u2019t have the spirit of this book, you are an idolatrous person. You are ha\u2013 worshipping an idol, and not the spirit of God.<\/span> (In ministerial fervor) The Bible\u2019s not God, and you\u2019d better find it out! The Bible\u2019s not the Holy Ghost! (numerous references to proscription on graven images, especially in Pentateuch, including Exodus 20:4, \u201cThou shalt not make unto thee any\u00a0graven\u00a0image, or any likeness of any thing that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth.\u201d)<\/span><\/p>\n

Jones<\/strong>: (Voice moderates) Boy, they\u2019re\u2013 they\u2019re clearin\u2019 out of here. Crippled and sick, dyin\u2019 of cancer, and people that I need to heal, but you creep out of here when you oughta stay, where the spirit of God\u2019s conscious presence is, because in my house \u2013 the Father\u2019s house \u2013 there\u2019s been no dying, there\u2019s been no sickness, no disease, we\u2019re happy and blessed. And you want to go back? Why, I felt just a moment ago, some sister, she had to get down that aisle, she wanted to get a good night\u2019s rest, so she could go up in that old church tomorrow she\u2019s sittin\u2019 in. She wanted to be there early, and all they\u2019ll do have the same preliminaries, have the same anthem, same dead prayer. Pass the same old plates, and the same communion, Sister Thomas. Same old communion. And the same old dead sermon, and you\u2019ll go away feeling the same dead way you felt when you came in.<\/p>\n

Jones<\/strong>: (Voice rising) \u2018Cause they haven\u2019t got the goods. They\u2019re not doing anything. He said, what we need today is (in full throat) living<\/em> Bibles! Jesus said, you\u2013 we need living<\/em> Bibles! He said, you are living epistles! Living Bibles! Read and known of all men! (2 Corinthians 3:1-3)<\/span> (Speaking away from microphone over congregation cheering and applause) That\u2019s what I am! Don\u2019t ask me what I believe! I\u2019m a living Bible! I\u2019m doing the works of God! I have come to make Jesus real! I have given my body! I have given my hands! I have given my voice! I\u2019ve given my mind.<\/p>\n

Congregation:<\/strong> (Cheering, applause)<\/p>\n

Jones<\/strong>: (Voice moderates, speaking over congregation hubbub) So sweet to see some of these older children down\u2013 you got your grey hair can understand this, this is something the younger ones trippin\u2019 out. Good God almighty. Why don\u2019t we get the truth in our hearts? It\u2019s the truth<\/em> that will set you free (John 8:32). Said after the Holy Ghost has come, he\u2019ll lead you and guide you through Romans and Th\u2013 Thessalonians<\/span> (returns to microphone) and Timothy. There was a\u2013 was that what it said? That the Holy Ghost has come, he will lead and guide you through Corinthians.<\/span> (Suddenly in full throat) No! He didn\u2019t say that! Said when the Holy Ghost is come, he\u2019ll lead you and guide you into all<\/em> truth! (John 16:13, \u201cHowbeit when he, the Spirit of truth, is come, he will guide you into all truth: for he shall not speak of himself; but whatsoever he shall hear, that shall he speak: and he will shew you things to come.\u201d See also John 14:17.)<\/span><\/p>\n

Jones<\/strong>: (Speaking over congregation, in full throat away from microphone) You\u2019ll keep on hearing from God, God will still be making (unintelligible word), God will be making Bibles everyday, he\u2019ll be saying the words.<\/p>\n

Congregation:<\/strong> (Cheering)<\/p>\n

Jones<\/strong>: (Voice moderates) Hallelujah. Someone said to me, you got all you got in the book. Can\u2019t do it. Jesus said \u2013 Jesus<\/em>said \u2013 the following things in the last chapter of John. Jesus said,<\/span> (returns to microphone, voice rising slowly to full throat) if all the things he had begun to both do and teach<\/em> were written in the book<\/em>, the world would not be able to contain the books. So all the works of Jesus is not in the Bible. Uh, the last chapter of Saint John proves that. All the sayings of Jesus is not in the Bible. All the actions of Jesus is not in the Bible (John 21: 24-25, \u201cThis is the disciple which testifieth of these things, and wrote these things: and we know that his testimony is true. And there are also many other things which Jesus did, the which, if they should be written every one, I suppose that even the world itself could not contain the books that should be written. Amen.\u201d See also John 20:30-31.).<\/span> You<\/em> don\u2019t have Jesus in a black book. You\u2019ve got Jesus when you\u2019ve got the Holy Ghost, healing the sick, raising the dead, feeding the hungry, taking in the needy of the world. That\u2019s<\/em> the Holy Ghost, when he, the spirit of truth, is come!<\/p>\n

Congregation:<\/strong> (Responds)<\/p>\n

Jones<\/strong>: (Voice moderates; speaking away from microphone) So sweet. So sweet to know God. They had me on that poor farm, lookin\u2019 up through the sky and tellin\u2019 me to look up to the sky and pray, and always to wait for heaven. You see, the truths<\/em> have been kept from you by preachers that couldn\u2019t produce a good. If you cannot make<\/em> a heaven, you\u2019ve got to promise<\/em> a heaven. If you cannot give<\/em> health, you\u2019ve gotta give somebody a promissory note. You\u2019ve gotta tell \u2018em, by and by, you\u2019ve got shoes, I\u2019ve got shoes, all God\u2019s children got shoes. If you can\u2019t conquer death now, you\u2019ve gotta say by and by, there\u2019ll be no dying. By and by, there\u2019ll be no sickness.<\/p>\n

Jones<\/strong>: Come on.<\/p>\n

Jones<\/strong>: Truth anyhow. So they got you on a false\u2013 (stumbles over words) They give you a lick and a promise. Lick and a promise. Everything gone be by and by. You\u2019re hungry? By and by, you\u2019ll be fed. (Voice rising) If you have injustice, by and by it\u2019ll be all worked out. (Returns to microphone) If you\u2019re oppressed because of your color, by and by everybody\u2019ll be equal. If you got no shoes now, by and by you\u2019ll have shoes and you\u2019ll walk all over God\u2019s heaven. And the preacher, he stands up and got the nerve to tell you that ridin\u2019 around in a Cadillac, and you listen to him. You\u2019re something else. You\u2019re something else!<\/p>\n

Congregation:<\/strong> (Calls, applause)<\/p>\n

Jones<\/strong>: (Over congregation applause) Sick as you can be. Sick as you can be. Hungry. No decent homes to live in. No people in my apostolic church are homeless. No one that doesn\u2019t have\u2013 Every one of my senior citizens have better homes and better food than I<\/em> do, because such is the gospel<\/em>. You lay down your life<\/em> for your friends. You prefer your brother over yourself. But some of you, you don\u2019t have a place to live hardly, you don\u2019t have a decent place, and you got some jackleg preacher standin\u2019 up, driving up in a fancy air-conditioned car, telling you that by and by, you\u2019re gonna have a cabin on a hilltop. And he\u2019ll tell you, now, don\u2019t you\u2013 don\u2019t you worry. Jesus is comin\u2019 very soon. It\u2019s all, he\u2019s comin\u2019 very soon. And the preacher is always getting a new suit every week or every month, and he\u2019s getting him a new car every year. And getting him a newer home and getting fancier clothes, and there\u2019s a anniversary for him every year and a pastor\u2019s appreciation, pastor\u2019s wife tea, but he tells you Jesus is coming soon. (Voice rises) He don\u2019t act like Jesus is coming soon. He acts like you\u2019re a bunch of fools and he\u2019s takin\u2019 all of your money, that\u2019s what he acts like.<\/p>\n

Congregation:<\/strong> (Cheers and applause)<\/p>\n

Jones<\/strong>: (Speaking over congregation cheering) That\u2019s<\/em> why those rascals\u2013 That\u2019s<\/em> why those rascals have come here, and tried to get the man here that did a good job fired. That\u2019s why they tried to get us uh, tr\u2013 trouble for parking, had people come out and give us, uh, tickets, called up the departments to give us tickets, tried to block us from renting every building in this town. Why don\u2019t you think? Don\u2019t you know why they don\u2019t want me to come to town? Because they\u2019re afraid I\u2019ll give you the truth and you\u2019ll get free and you won\u2019t give \u2018em any more money to buy their Cadillacs or their nice cars!<\/p>\n

Congregation:<\/strong> (cheers and applause)<\/p>\n

Jones<\/strong>: That\u2019s<\/em> what they\u2019re scared to death about. That\u2019s what they\u2013 they\u2019re all upset about. That you\u2019re gonna get free. That you\u2019re gonna be so<\/em> free that you don\u2019t have to go and sit under their garbage anymore. That you\u2019re gonna say, I\u2019m the bishop<\/em> of my soul. I\u2019m the captain<\/em> of my fate. I am the Son<\/em> of God. I am the temple<\/em> of the Holy Ghost. Who are you? (Pause) (Ministerial fervor) Who are you, preacher? Just because you\u2019ve got a black collar on? Who are you, because you sit up in a black robe? I am just as important as you are. I am one with God. I am a living epistle. (2 Corinthians 3:1-3)\u00a0<\/span>(Voice moderate slightly) They know you\u2019re gonna get the truth, and they don\u2019t want you to get the truth.<\/p>\n

Congregation:<\/strong> (Cries of agreement)<\/p>\n

Jones<\/strong>: You see what I\u2019m doing? (Voice rises to ministerial fervor) We\u2019re starting just shortly\u2013 We\u2019re gonna send out\u2013 I\u2019ve got an ordination, I\u2019m gonna send out people just like me with this gift. (Speaks over applause) Send \u2018em here, there, and everywhere. Gonna stir up the gifts by the laying on of hands and I\u2019m gonna send them all\u2013 everywhere I can to stir up the people (2 Timothy 1, esp. 2 Timothy 1:6, \u201cWherefore I put thee in remembrance that thou stir up the gift of God, which is in thee by the putting on of my hands.\u201d).<\/span> Because I want you to have everything I have, and more!<\/p>\n

Congregation:<\/strong> (Cheering, applause)<\/p>\n

Jones<\/strong>: (ministerial fervor) I want you to be what I am and more! I want you to take cognizance of my teachings. If you\u2019ll take cognizance of my teachings, and listen to my sayings, you can reproduce a greater picture of me than even I<\/em> am reproducing.<\/span> (Voice moderates) Jesus said, These things shall you do and greater, because I go to the Father (John 14, 9-12, esp. John 9:12, \u201cVerily, verily, I say unto you, He that believeth on me, the works that I do shall he do also; and greater works than these shall he do; because I go unto my Father.\u201d).<\/span> Say, my whole purpose is to get you just like me.<\/p>\n

Congregation:<\/strong> (Scattered applause)<\/p>\n

Jones<\/strong>: (Speaks over applause) Just like God. To get you to see all the good that I might have, and get all the good that God has for you. I want to stir up every gift in you (2 Timothy 1:6). I want to cause you to jump out into the, uh\u2013 the unfamiliar territory and go out by promise like Abraham did (Galatians 3),<\/span> and become your own temple and become your own Bible and become your own oracle and become your own (breathily) God. (Pause) What do you think would happen, if all of you would recognize who you are? If each of you would stand on your own feet, and be independent of mortality. And would deliver the world as a living Bible. That\u2019s what he said: be living epistles, read and known of all men (2 Corinthians 3:1-3). What do you think would happen to Seattle if each one of you said, I am the temple of God, and you went out to these dead churches and you went into the highways and hedges, and you went from hospital room to, uh, room, if you learn these sayings and get around and get some of this anointing I\u2019ve got (Luke 14:23, \u201cAnd the lord said unto the servant, Go out into the highways and hedges, and compel them to come in, that my house may be filled.\u201d)\u2013<\/span> (In ministerial fervor) what do you think would happen to Seattle if you\u2019d get what I\u2019ve got inside of me plus more<\/em>? Get all that you can get, plus more<\/em>? (Voice moderates) That\u2019s right. Reverend Swanson down there\u2013 the pas\u2013 the ministers of Seattle couldn\u2019t stand it. (Pauses) But first, get rid of that which hinders your soul growth. I did not intend<\/em> to preach so long, but I need<\/em> to preach so long because some of you are still in bondage. You say, I\u2019ve come to get healed. Well, the way you get<\/em> healed, and stay<\/em> healed, is two different things. I can heal you because I\u2019ve uh, riven\u2013 uh, risen to a point of faith<\/em>. If I can just touch you, and bring a healing. But if you keep<\/em> healed, you have to get inside you what\u2019s inside of me. The Holy Ghost, the anointing. The comforter. The spirit of bravery. Comforter means, in the Hebrew, come-forte: with bravery (several references to the Comforter in John, esp. John 14:26, \u201cBut the Comforter, which is the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in my name, he shall teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you.\u201d).<\/span> I\u2019m not afraid of any devil. I\u2019m not afraid of anything coming or going, whether it\u2019s animal or man, mineral or vegetable, I\u2019m not afraid of anything<\/em>. And I want you to get the same spirit in you, because when you get that spirit in you \u2013 the same spirit that raised (voice rises to full throat) Christ from the dead, (Voice moderates, then rises to ministerial fervor) then we\u2019ll have victory around Seattle. Then we\u2019ll have victory in Vancouver. Then we\u2019ll have victory up there in B.C. Power of God\u2019ll be manifest.<\/p>\n

Congregation:<\/strong> (applause)<\/p>\n

Jones<\/strong>: (Voice quietens) So as I said, study a little bit. Because (brief pause) this \u2013 the Bible \u2013 without the Spirit is the deadliest<\/em> murderous weapon of all time. It\u2019ll kill<\/em>. Now, you don\u2019t want to murder anybody. But this is what Second Corinthians 3:6 tells you: if you don\u2019t have the Spirit, it\u2019ll kill you. Now I know some of you have never heard that in your life, that the Bible was a murderer.<\/span> (Brief pause) But that\u2019s what I\u2019m saying. And I\u2019m telling you, when I listen to those people tell me that grandpa had to die \u2013 a good man, a good man \u2013 \u2018cause some doctor wasn\u2019t living by the apostolic principle of sharing, was over on Millionaire Avenue, and I prayed and the heavens were brass (Deuteronomy 28:23, \u201cAnd thy heaven that is over thy head shall be brass, and the earth that is under thee shall be iron.\u201d),<\/span> and my granddaddy died while that old rich man got his carbuncle lanced over on Millionaire Avenue. I quit<\/em> then. I give up on prayin\u2019 outside of myself. I started lookin\u2019 inside. And ever since that day \u2013 and my people can tell you that \u2013 some of the people been with me for twenty-five years, and I\u2019ve got people been with me longer than that. Sister [Edith] Cordell, who cuts our hair, I healed her of cancer, well, way back twenty-something years ago. She was wasting away with cancer. And she now cuts our hair and she\u2019s adopted eighteen children and she\u2019s still\u2013 she\u2019s way past her three-score and ten, and she cuts all of our hair free in the Temple family. (Taps pulpit to emphasize words) Now, way back when I stopped lookin\u2019 to the sky for my help \u2013 lookin\u2019 to the Skygod \u2013 and started lookin\u2019 to the God within me, nobody<\/em> has died in my presence. (Voice rises) I\u2019ve gone to the hospital when they were gasping, and they raised up. I\u2019ve gone\u2013 you\u2019ve seen \u2018em bring \u2018em down the aisles, how many\u2019ve seen them? Twenty-four of them this year, twenty-four\u2013 (Voice rising) Bring \u2018em up, carry \u2018em up, no matter how. The\u2013 this sister\u2019s around carrying those pictures. They carried her up like a stiff board! But no one\u2019s died in my presence since I found out where heaven was. (In full throat) Since I found that heaven was not speculation. That heaven was not a state of imagination, but heaven was within me and it had all the power (voice moderates) that that imaginary heaven was supposed to have, and more. (Pause) It\u2019ll raise<\/em> the dead. It\u2019ll heal<\/em> the sick. It\u2019ll cured the blinded eyes, if you will let heaven come forth in you. (Pause) So quit worryin\u2019 about what I believe. Worry what I do<\/em>. Said, you\u2019ll know a tree by the fruit<\/em> it bears. Not by what it\u2013 what it believes<\/em>,<\/span> (short laugh) but what kind of fruit<\/em> it bears. You know that tree by what fruit it bears (Luke 6:44, For every tree is known by his own fruit.\u201d See also, Matthew 12:33).<\/span> (Pause) You know, if we don\u2019t have that spirit, if we don\u2019t have love\u2013 Someone in here\u2013 Stop, I\u2019m trying to answer a few little questions here before we quit this and go into the healings. We\u2019ve had some healings already, and I\u2013 I think truth is very<\/em> important, because if you get what I\u2019m saying, you\u2019ll be able to do what I\u2019m doing. (Voice rises) See, that\u2019s what I\u2019m after, is to get you to be where I\u2019m at, not for me to have to touch<\/em> you. If a doctor is a good doctor, he\u2019ll try to train others to be a doctor. (Voice rises more) I don\u2019t want you to have to keep comin\u2019 to me to get remedies. I want you to be able to find the remedy that I\u2019ve got inside me that\u2019ll remedy all problems satisfactory. (Pause) (Voice turns conversational) If we don\u2019t have love\u2013 someone in\u2013 and in back there and said, I hear you say that Buddhists can be saved. That Mahatma Gandhi was saved. Is that true<\/em>? Sister said. I said, who are you to judge Mahatma Gandhi? It\u2019s not your business to judge Mahatma Gandhi. (Pauses) One meeting, while back here, in this place\u2013 This is always question. This is\u2013 Seattle is Question Town. Said, I heard you say good words about Pope John [XXIII]. Do you believe Pope John was saved? I believe Pope John was a de\u2013 an apostle of love. I believe he did a lot of sweet, lovely things, and I think that\u2019s why he died prematurely. I think some folk wanted him dead<\/em> in the Catholic church, to be very frank about it. I think God\u2019s got people everywhere, in every<\/em> church, in every<\/em> movement. (Voice rising to ministerial fervor) And that\u2019s the only thing that\u2019s gonna turn our kids on. That old hellfire and brimstone, the furniture of heaven and the temperature of hell\u2019s not gonna turn our kids on anymore. We\u2019re gonna have to get something else. They\u2019ve had enough of it! They don\u2019t want no more of it! (Voice moderates) It\u2019s gonna have to be love that covers a multitude of sins (1 Peter 4:8, \u201cAnd above all things have fervent charity among yourselves: for charity shall cover the multitude of sins.\u201d).<\/span> If you don\u2019t get that love, you can preach to them, because they\u2019re not scared of devils or demons or all packs of demons, you\u2019re\u2013 you\u2019re not gonna scare them into kingdom of heaven. In fact of the matter, what do you succeed in doing when you scare somebody into the church, you just got a coward. (Pause) You\u2019ve just got a coward.<\/p>\n

Male voice in congregation:<\/strong> Amen.<\/p>\n

Jones<\/strong>: (Voice rising to ministerial fervor) But when you love<\/em> somebody into the church of God, you\u2019ve got a savior. You\u2019ve got somebody that cares. You\u2019ve got somebody that\u2019ll lose<\/em> their life that they might find it (Matthew 10:39, \u201cHe that findeth his life shall lose it: and he that loseth his life for my sake shall find it.\u201d See also, Matthew 16:25, Mark 8:35; Luke 9:24; Luke 17:33; and John 12:25).<\/span> You\u2019ve got somebody that is touched<\/em> by the feelings of people\u2019s infirmities. But when you scare<\/em> somebody in, you\u2019ve just got an old sniveling coward. (Pause) (Speaks quietly) Hmph.<\/p>\n

(Lengthy pause)<\/p>\n

Jones<\/strong>: I (pause) hope<\/em> that you will study this with some concentration, and you\u2019ll see that the spirit within me has led. How can you hear without a preacher, as I said (Romans 10:14-15)<\/span>, and you are saved by preaching, and I have preached (1 Corinthians 1: 20-21).<\/span> Here\u2019s [The Letter Killeth<\/em>] some marvellous truths. And I\u2019ve shown you some things that cause your young people to be disturbed. And the next time they\u2019re disturbed, you can say, I don\u2019t mind, darling, if you\u2019re disturbed over the letter. Come, and I\u2019ll show you a man who is letting God use<\/em> him. That\u2019s how I show you that God exists. That I\u2013 that\u2019s how I show you that there\u2019s a love in the universe. That\u2019s how I will show you that Christ Jesus\u2019 teachings are real. Because there\u2019s a man over here that\u2019s doing the works of Christ<\/em>. (Speaks faster) Because if you show him the Bible, he\u2019ll say, well, huh, Thomas Paine didn\u2019t believe in the Bible. Thomas Jefferson didn\u2019t believe in the Bible. Abraham Lincoln didn\u2019t believe in the Bible. Neither did [Ralph Waldo] Emerson believe in the Bible. And then certainly, uh, Mark Twain \u2013 Letters to the Earth<\/em> \u2013 didn\u2019t. Or Mark, uh, and, uh, Thomas Paine. Look at this, my child. Just things like this. Judges 1:19. I don\u2019t think I have that in this book. But I\u2019ll give you. It isn\u2019t in this book, I don\u2019t think, but I\u2013 there\u2019s one verse like this. Judges 1:19, where is that in the b\u2013 in the book? Said God was able to save, what?<\/span><\/p>\n

Man in congregation:<\/strong> The inhabitants of the valley.<\/p>\n

Jones<\/strong>: The inhabitants of the valley. Now think of that. But he could not save \u2013 what? (Pauses) Hmm?<\/span> (Pauses) The inhabitants of the mountains, because of what?<\/span><\/p>\n

Man in congregation:<\/strong> (Murmured reply, quoting Judges 1:19)<\/p>\n

Jones<\/strong>: They had chariots of iron. Get it back there, brother. Read that to me. Judges 1:19.<\/span> (Shushes congregation, pauses) Real loud.<\/p>\n

Man in congregation:<\/strong> (Reading loudly, away from microphone) And the Lord was with Judah, and he drave out the inhabitants (microphone brought to him) of the mountains.<\/p>\n

Jones<\/strong>: He drave out\u2013 He drave out, now I want you to notice that, too. He drave out. King James didn\u2019t even have his English straight. You don\u2019t drave out. You drive out. But you don\u2019t\u2013 and you can drove out, but<\/em> you don\u2019t drave out.<\/span> Come on.<\/p>\n

Male voice in congregation:<\/strong> (Begins reading) But\u2013<\/p>\n

Jones<\/strong>: (Speaking over reader) He drave out\u2013<\/p>\n

Male voice in congregation:<\/strong> (Reading aloud, amplified by microphone) But could not drive out the inhabitants of the valley.<\/p>\n

Jones<\/strong>: Now read that back again. Say that\u2013 say that all over again.<\/p>\n

Male voice in congregation:<\/strong> (Reading) And the Lord was with Judah, and he drave out the inhabitants of the mountains.<\/p>\n

Jones<\/strong>: The Lord was with Judah, and he drave out the inhabitants of the mountain, but he couldn\u2019t drove out\u2013<\/p>\n

Male voice in congregation:<\/strong> (Begins reading) But he\u2013<\/p>\n

Jones<\/strong>: (Speaking over reader) The inhabitants of the valley because they had what?<\/p>\n

Male voice in congregation:<\/strong> (Reading) They had chariots of iron.<\/p>\n

Jones<\/strong>: Now isn\u2019t that too bad. God, according to that book, couldn\u2019t handle chariots of iron.<\/span><\/p>\n

Congregation:<\/strong> (Laughter)<\/p>\n

Jones<\/strong>: (Voice rises sharply to ministerial fervor) What kind of God do you think that is? Not my<\/em> God! I\u2019ve seen my God stop the rain!<\/span><\/p>\n

Congregation:<\/strong> (Loud cheers and applause)<\/p>\n

Jones<\/strong>: (Voice moderates slightly, speaking over congregation) When the rains were falling. When they throwed us out of the building two years ago, we had no place. We didn\u2019t have an aged home, didn\u2019t have a convalescent home then, didn\u2019t have anything, had nothing but a field<\/em>. All winter long, the rains pour in northern California. But not a drop of rain fell on our heads. When the cars came up to our circle, they were rained on \u2013 it poured down on them \u2013 but no rain came on us.<\/span> (Voice rises to ministerial fervor) My God can stop the rain! My God can open the prison doors! My\u2013 my God can cause the blind to see\u2013<\/span><\/p>\n

Congregation:<\/strong> (Cheers and applause)<\/p>\n

Jones<\/strong>: (Speaking over congregation cheers) \u2013and the deaf to hear, and the lame to walk! (Isaiah 35:4-6)<\/span> (Voice moderates) But King James is so fouled up, that he says the Lord God of Judah could clear out the inhabitants of the mountains \u2018cause they didn\u2019t have any chariots of iron. But he couldn\u2019t get rid of those folks in the valley because they had chariots of iron (Judges 1:19).<\/span> (Voice rises sharply, then moderates) What kind of God does King James present to you?<\/span> And I\u2013 I\u2013 I\u2019ve got a thousand like that, like, just a thousand like it. Things that will turn children\u2019s stomach. Like Jephthah, a prophet of God, was supposed to\u2019ve made a covenant with God to win a battle at Aye [Aroer]. Said, if I win this battle at Aye, I will make sacrifice of the first one that comes through my\u2013 my door. Don\u2019t tell me it\u2019s not in the book. It\u2019s in the book.<\/span><\/p>\n

Female voice in congregation:<\/strong> Right. It\u2019s true.<\/p>\n

Jones<\/strong>: (Voice slowly rising) And so Jephthah won the battle of Aye, and he had to murder his daughter because she was the first one that came through the door. Two months she went about bemoaning her fate \u2013 according to King James \u2013 and after that, he kept the vow which he made unto Jehovah. And that meant, under Jewish law, he had to burn her alive.<\/span><\/p>\n

Congregation:<\/strong> (Stirs)<\/p>\n

Jones<\/strong>: (In ministerial fervor) Now don\u2019t tell me God approved of that. God is love! (Judges 11:29-39)<\/span> (Claps hands once) King James doesn\u2019t know what God is! How can an alcoholic king know anything about God? How can a man that got eighty tin makers (voice moderates) just like himself know anything about God? How can somebody that took the blacks and put \u2018em in chains on the first ship Good Ship Jesus, and brought \u2018em over here in slavery, and persecuted the early American colonists, and killed off the Indians under his jurisdiction, how in the world can you tell me that he knows God? And yet there\u2019s some of you folk that\u2019ll hold that book up in front of you and say, It was good enough for Paul. It was good enough for Paul, so it\u2019s good enough for me.<\/p>\n

Congregation:<\/strong> (Scattered applause and agreement)<\/p>\n

Jones<\/strong>: (In full throat, speaking over congregation) Paul never saw that book! Look inside, honey, before you frown at me! Look in there. It says 1611! That means sixteen hundred and eleven years after Jesus Christ was born! (Pause) (Voice moderates) You know that folk won\u2019t tell the truth on me sixteen hundred and eleven minutes<\/em> after they get outta this room.<\/p>\n

Congregation:<\/strong> (Scattered laughter)<\/p>\n

Jones<\/strong>: They\u2019re gonna have it all twisted up, and folk are gonna tell every kind of story you ever heard before they get home sixteen hundred and eleven seconds<\/em>! I know that there\u2019s a brother went down the street, and he won\u2019t be sixteen a hundred and eleven seconds down that street before he\u2019ll have a whole different story told on what really happened here. (Voice rises to full throat) So how do you expect an alcoholic king of England \u2013 go study your history \u2013 to tell the truth about God? That\u2019s why you can not hear without a preacher, and he can\u2019t preach lest he be sent (Romans 10:14-15). That\u2019s why you have to have apostles, pastors, teachers, evangelists for the perfecting!<\/span> (Pause) Perfecting, did you hear me? For the perfecting of the saints! You\u2019re<\/em> not perfected by Bibles, you are perfected by the manifestation of the sons of God! That\u2019s what\u2019s will perfect you (Ephesians 4:10-12).<\/span><\/p>\n

Congregation:<\/strong> (Cheers, applause)<\/p>\n

Jones<\/strong>: (Voice moderates, speaking away from microphone) Good God almighty. And in this one page, just one verse, not all the pages \u2013 one page. (Reading from The Letter Killeth<\/em>) Abraham had only one son. Hebrews 11:17: by faith Abraham offered up Isaac, his only<\/span> (returns to microphone) begotten son. Galatians 4:22: For it is written that Abraham had what?<\/span><\/p>\n

Male in congregation:<\/strong> Two.<\/p>\n

Jones<\/strong>: Two sons. Keturah was Abraham\u2019s wife. Or was he his\u2013 was she his concubine? I\u2019m just giving you just one paragraph, then I\u2019m quittin\u2019. Genesis 25:1: Then Abraham took a wife, and her name was Keturah.<\/span> (Voice rises sharply) (unintelligible word)? Took a wife, and her name was Keturah. Not according to First Chronicles 1:32. Keturah, Abraham\u2019s<\/span> (pauses for effect) concubine. His whore.<\/span><\/p>\n

Congregation:<\/strong> (Quiet murmur)<\/p>\n

Jones<\/strong>: Now, honey, there\u2019s quite a difference between being a whore and a wife.<\/span><\/p>\n

Congregation:<\/strong> (Laughter)<\/p>\n

Jones<\/strong>: Wouldn\u2019t you say (laughs)<\/p>\n

Congregation:<\/strong> (Laughter)<\/p>\n

Jones<\/strong>: Let that sister get her false teeth back in there.<\/p>\n

Congregation:<\/strong> (laughter, scattered applause)<\/p>\n

Jones<\/strong>: (Voice rises to full throat) I said, if you\u2019re a wife, you\u2019re not a concubine. If you\u2019re a concubine, you\u2019re not a wife. That means you\u2019re a mistress<\/em>! You\u2019re a kept woman<\/em>!<\/span> (Voice moderates) Not a legal wife.<\/span> And I can go through that and through that and through that and through that. You can\u2019t get facts. One place you\u2019ve got the devil numbering Israel (1 Chron. 21:1 \u201cAnd Satan stood up against Israel and provoked David to number Israel.\u201d), and the other place it said God numbered Israel (2 Sam. 24:1 \u201cAnd again the anger of the Lord was kindled against Israel, and he moved David against them to say, Go, number Israel and Judah.\u201d).<\/span> Say, why do you tell me this? I don\u2019t need to tell you that, because some of you don\u2019t think it wouldn\u2019t bother you one way or the other. But your children<\/em> are gonna think. And the young people you influence are gonna think. And when you hold up that black book, they\u2019re gonna ask you some questions and you better have some good answers. But there\u2019s one thing you cannot deny when they come up, (voice rising to full throat) say, I can tell you\u2013 I can show you a man that\u2019s showed me all things that I had ever done!<\/p>\n

Congregation:<\/strong> (cheers)<\/p>\n

Jones<\/strong>: (full throat) That knew nothing about me but told me the thought of my mind! I can show you that God is still working in the church! That God is still healing the sick! That God is still ministering (voice moderates) to the needs of man.<\/p>\n

Congregation:<\/strong> (Responds)<\/p>\n

Jones<\/strong>: That they can\u2019t deny. Come in, they see cripple like that woman that we saw with her hands. I mean, bent like that. And her leg bent\u2013 her leg bent under, and just straightened it out. (Voice rises sharply) Nobody, no atheist, no agnostic, no communist, no fascist, nobody\u2019ll be able to deny<\/em> what they see with their own eyes!<\/p>\n

Congregation:<\/strong> (Responds)<\/p>\n

Jones<\/strong>: (In full throat) You gonna testify to that which you see and hear! Not what somebody says is in the Bible! But you\u2019ll testify to that (moves away from microphone) which you see and you hear! And you have seen the lame walk! You have seen the blind see! You have seen the cancers come out through this building, even today! What you talking about! God is here!<\/p>\n

Congregation:<\/strong> (Responds)<\/p>\n

Jones<\/strong>: I shall finish on that. I\u2019ve said enough. Get the booklet. (unintelligible sentence) Finish it anyway, but if it\u2019s too much for you, what\u2019ll happen is, you go home and uh, you\u2019ll be afraid that you\u2019re not able yet to manifest the fullness of the Spirit of God, and the temptation is to go back to the security of mother\u2019s womb, rather than stand on your own feet. Say, I can\u2019t build a church like Jim Jones. I can\u2019t feed the hungry. I can\u2019t heal the sick. I can\u2019t do this. And so you drift back with all the other trespassers. You say, I like the music. (Pause) That\u2019s a poor excuse, child. I said that\u2019s a poor excuse. I hope tomorrow morning, as some of you folk, when you drift back, and you set in those churches, I hope you think real good. I want you to look around at those poor mothers that are in that church and don\u2019t have any home. I want you to look around at those children that have not had any place to give them care and comfort. I want you to look at that great big old building that has nothing in it but seats<\/em> and a new organ. The organ that we play, I bought with my own money, twenty years ago. Twenty years ago, I carried that organ, bought that organ, we carried it from Canada to Los Angeles to uh, New York, that same organ\u2019s still playing because I anointed it with God-given money. I sacrificed to get it, and we don\u2019t need a new organ. You<\/em> don\u2019t need a new organ. (Pause) (Quiet) You know what I\u2019m talking about. All you\u2019ll see tomorrow when you go in is just organs and pianos. And pews<\/em>. But no place \u2013<\/span> (breathily) my God \u2013 no place for the hungry, no place to take care of the strangers.<\/span><\/p>\n

Congregation:<\/strong> (Stirs)<\/p>\n

Jones: <\/strong>Shh. Matthew 25 told you how you could find him.<\/span> Preacher tells you to get ready for the rapture, and he\u2019s gonna rupture you, not rapture you.<\/p>\n

Congregation:<\/strong> (Light laughter)<\/p>\n

Jones: <\/strong>He\u2019s literally gonna rupture your life. That\u2019s what\u2019s gonna happen to you. You gonna be ruptured in your spiritual life. \u2019Cause Jesus said, if you want to find me, he said, I am hungry, and you didn\u2019t feed me. I\u2019m naked, and you didn\u2019t clothe me. I\u2019m a stranger, and you didn\u2019t take me in. I\u2019m sick in prison, and you did not come unto me. And those good churches trampers will say, when did we see you hungry? And he\u2019ll say, well, I was hungry in an old apartment building in Seattle. I was a poor little child in the Appalachian mine country. I was a poor little black child in some ghetto, I was a poor little Indian child on a reservation, I was hungry, and you didn\u2019t come to me. He said, in that you did it not unto the least of these, you did it not unto me (Matthew 25:34-46). And he said, depart from me, you workers of iniquity. I never knew you (Luke 13:27, \u201cBut he shall say, I tell you, I know you not whence ye are; depart from me, all ye workers of iniquity.\u201d).<\/span> You want to find Jesus? That\u2019s<\/em> how you\u2019ll find him. Look out a ho\u2013 and see around you, who\u2019s hungry, and you better become God to them, just as he was God to those in the Nazareth degree. You\u2019ll have to become a savior<\/em> to those around you. (Voice rises to full throat) You\u2019ll have to feed the hungry and clothe the naked, if you want to find your God. (Matthew 25:34-46)<\/span> (Voice drops) That\u2019s how you\u2019re gonna have to find him.<\/p>\n

Congregation:<\/strong> (Scattered applause)<\/p>\n

Jones: <\/strong>(Voice climbs throughout) God won\u2019t be found in these stinking churches. Having a form of God in this denying the power, rich increased of goods and needing nothing (Revelation 3:17, \u201cBecause thou sayest, I am rich, and increased with goods, and have need of nothing; and knowest not that thou art wretched, and miserable, and poor, and blind, and naked:\u201d).<\/span> Fine organs and fine chanceries and fine cymbals and fine clarion bells and plush seats, while all over Seattle and every community in Canada and America, there\u2019s hungry\u2013 there\u2019s hungry, two out of three babies according to the Washington government, the US government, two out of three babies going to bed hungry, and we\u2019re building a church on every block, and two and three in every block, and some of them got the same name, and they split over whether you play music in the church, or you don\u2019t play music in the church. (Voice drops) I\u2019ll tell you, I don\u2019t know what poor sinner\u2019s to do these days. (Pause) One that got the True Vine Baptist, and the only True Vine Baptist, and the Primitive Baptist, and the Pure Baptist and the American Baptist and the Southern Baptist and the Northern Baptist. Good God Almighty, we don\u2019t need any more Baptists, we need Jesus (tape distortion)\u2013<\/p>\n
