\"\"<\/a>In May 1978, Peoples Temple signed a two-year contract to lease a 300-ton, 131-foot coastal freighter known as the Albatross<\/em>. The pages below comprise some of the legal documents, licenses, registrations, and repair and insurance invoices for that leasing arrangement \u2013 which began as a plan to purchase the vessel \u2013 as well as notes and memoranda of Temple communications regarding the acquisition.<\/p>\n

The Albatross<\/em> was intended for use as a supply vessel for the Temple\u2019s operations in Guyana. It was in Trinidad on November 18 on a trip to pick up supplies, and the four Temple members on board \u2013 Charles Touchette, Philip Blakey, Helen Swinney, and Richard Janaro \u2013 survived the tragedy.<\/p>\n

The source for this chart is the\u00a0B-2 section of the FBI\u2019s release of Peoples Temple documents under the Freedom of Information Act.\u00a0As occurs several times in this release, the FBI labeled and duplicated many of the documents in a haphazard chronological order.\u00a0The texts have been placed in order, although the legal and financial documents on the vessel\u2019s ownership and maintenance have not.<\/p>\n

The citation for these documents should open with the FBI\u2019s official designation of these records, which is \u201cRYMUR 89-4286-B-2.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n
