As one reviewer described them in <a href=\"https:\/\/rvamag.com\/music\/richmond-albums-alex-jonestown-massacre-self-titled.html\">RVA Magazine<\/a>, \u201cI do not know if I have met a band with a name that explains so much about them. They are an undeniably and self-proclaimed political band, full of passion and anger, but in the exact same breath, lively and funny, ready to turn to a joke on a dime, and lastly, well read and thorough music lovers.\u201d The album is available on <a href=\"https:\/\/open.spotify.com\/album\/1CB2xipF1gQqRjpEiQldS5?si=bLVd9Tm3TmyAlG4a35ZiYw&amp;nd=1&amp;dlsi=54e83e1daf9c46ac&amp;flow_ctx=5cb4ed3e-0d79-4213-a69c-f656ade922dc%3A1727048001\">Spotify<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 With a more direct reference to the tragedy of November 1978, another heavy metal group, Veil of the Serpent, released the song \u201cDeath Cult\u201d in June 2024, which the group says was \u201c[i]nspired by the horrific happenings in Jonestown.\u201d A review of the song \u2013 including a Youtube video of the song itself \u2013 appears on the <a href=\"https:\/\/bravewords.com\/news\/veil-of-the-serpent-returns-with-new-single-inspired-by-the-jonestown-massacre\">Brave Words website<\/a>.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Jonestown story continues to find resonance for a number of musicians who offer artistic interpretations of the events through their own individual visions.
