The reasons were readily apparent \u2013 Jim Jones\u2019 illnesses, both physically and mentally; the increasing paranoia of its leadership group, undoubtedly fueled by Jones\u2019 deterioration; the increase in security and harsher punishments for petty infractions; the constant demands for more productivity from an overworked labor force; the distractions and diversions from the work that needed to be done created by the outside pressures upon the group and the leadership\u2019s response to them \u2013 and the results were just as obvious.
