Report–given in phone conv.<\/p>\n Washington office October 22 letter to the capitol here office<\/p>\n from: Mr. Louis Sims [Interpol US bureau chief]<\/p>\n Subject: Traffic in areas mentioned as per phone call<\/p>\n The cover letter was accompanied by a report given by an intermediary agent S.E. Murtagh. Murtagh was reporting on information provided by an agent who met with 13 former members on Feb. 24, 1977. The agent was unidentified.<\/p>\n (Feb. 5 the initial contact was made)<\/p>\n from information given it was clear to us that one of the 13 was Betty and Danny P. [Pietila] their same old tradtionall lies.<\/p>\n Points:<\/p>\n \u2013 one source mentions a person having stored 170 in her home (Betty) and then claims this was sent to this area<\/p>\n \u2013 Mary Ruth is named as the person who received Maxine–absurd<\/p>\n \u2013 one source mentioned having had 200 or 300 Maxines books kept in her place<\/p>\n \u2013 mentions political influence of us in SF, thru the DA and other departments but says no investigations of allegations possible, therefore the 13 had contacted investigative reporters, and subsequently articles appeared in the media<\/p>\n \u2013 claims that H. is seeking policital influence in G.–possible an ambassador-ship\/\/ (this could possible refer to letters to Mondale from George)<\/p>\n \u2013 sees him as seeking to influence and become a factor in G. politics<\/p>\n \u2013 mentions support of Black Panther Party and Black Muslims<\/p>\n \u2013 no mention of us a Socialist–perpaps because the two above have a reputation for violence that fits into their world view better.<\/p>\n \u2013 mentions talks in code on radio<\/p>\n \u2013 says that G. and us have agreement of no inspection of crates marked ag. supplies or used clothes–infers shipping with cooperation of govt.<\/p>\n \u2013 observers now located at Houston, New Orleans, Miami to watch shipments going out<\/p>\n \u2013 SF immigration confirms being deluged with requests for passports for people going to there.<\/p>\n \u2013 they recommend furture action: more observers and immigration to watch for traffic, investigate, more outposts to observe<\/p>\n \u2013 also mentions meeting with Mark Edwards, that conversations was taped and tape turned over to us.
