Ryan from Entering Jonestown"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Concurrently with issuing a <a href=\"http:\/\/jonestown.sdsu.edu\/?page_id=13935\">press release<\/a> protesting Congressman Leo Ryan\u2019s stated intent to enter Jonestown and collecting signatures from Jonestown residents on a <a href=\"http:\/\/jonestown.sdsu.edu\/?page_id=13929\">petition<\/a> to the same effect, the Board of Directors of Peoples Temple wrote a formal <a href=\"http:\/\/jonestown.sdsu.edu\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/10\/RyanResolution.pdf\">resolution<\/a> in November 1978 declaring that the land lease issued by the Government of Guyana gave authority to \u201cmembers of the Jonestown community [to] exert their right \u2026 to exclude therefrom all persons who presence is not considered desirable.\u201d Those persons included Congressman Ryan and \u201cmember[s] of the so-called \u2018Concerned Relatives\u2019 organization.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The resolution continues that members of the congressional party will not be allowed entry and asks for \u201cpolice assistance from the Government of Guyana to protect their community from unwanted trespasses.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>There are two drafts of this resolution.\u00a0Both drafts seem incomplete, and neither may be the final version.<\/p>\n<p><b>Resolution of Peoples Temple to Block Rep.
