{"id":14022,"date":"2013-02-17T21:50:47","date_gmt":"2013-02-17T21:50:47","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/alternativejonestown.com\/?page_id=14022"},"modified":"2023-11-30T11:24:25","modified_gmt":"2023-11-30T19:24:25","slug":"amendmentstoincorporation","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/jonestown.sdsu.edu\/?page_id=14022","title":{"rendered":"Amendments to Peoples Temple Articles of Incorporation"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>In June 1974, Peoples Temple filed <a href=\"http:\/\/jonestown.sdsu.edu\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/10\/1974Amendments.pdf\">amendments<\/a> to its Articles of Incorporation to expand its activities and interests as a non-profit corporation, and placed them on a much more formalized business setting. Among other provisions, the amendments specified that Peoples Temple could acquire and dispose of real estate holdings, stocks, bonds, and financial securities. The amendments also provided that it could incur debts, borrow money, and act as a trustee in financial matters.
