(Pause) If we had\u2013 If we had good news, it\u2019d be bad\u2013 it\u2019d be\u2013 (struggles over words) it\u2019ll be bad<\/i>, because we\u2019re going to have to take to lose more production, just weigh it in, we\u2019ll have to rest. (Pause) We just got<\/i> to. You can look at these bodies<\/i> and see it. And you just hold us up. Why can\u2019t you get this case over with?<\/p>\n

Woman 5:<\/b> Just that um, she was the one that made the comment to me that she wanted to get out of the medical department, and we had a counseling session with Mother [Marceline Jones], and Mother came out and asked her, would you like out or want in, and she said she wanted out.<\/p>\n

Viola:<\/b> I don\u2019t know, dad\u2013<\/p>\n

Jones:<\/b> Sister said\u2013 the sister said you wanted\u2013\u00a0you said because white fo\u2013 people taking you black people\u2019s places.<\/p>\n

Woman 6<\/b>:<\/b> Dad, I wanted to answer that, because she\u2013 That wasn\u2019t uh, true what Shirley said, because there was only one black person working in\u2013 in medical department at that\u2013 at that time, Shirley, so, you couldna\u2013 uh, that couldna been true (unintelligible end under radio).<\/p>\n

Male 2:<\/b> What is (unintelligible words) you, you\u2013 you got out of the medical office\u2013<\/p>\n

Jones:<\/b> I\u2013 That\u2019s a good point. What\u2019s that do with the price of onions? I know some folk who want to use color as a cop-out, if there wasn\u2019t no black person there, they\u2019d say somebody who was white<\/i> was black. And vice versa.<\/p>\n

Woman 6:<\/b> Um\u2013 Right then\u2013\u00a0(unintelligible under interruption from crowd)<\/p>\n

Male 3:<\/b> Somebody, then you have a skill, and you got outta there, you got outta there \u2018cause he had a skill, and\u2013 and\u2013 and\u2013<\/p>\n

Viola:<\/b> Um, Dad, the\u2013 the only reason I asked right then was \u2018cause, I don\u2019t know, I\u2013 I just felt pressured and\u2013\u00a0and my thyroid was\u2013<\/p>\n

Jones:<\/b> You\u2019re pressured and your thyroid what?<\/p>\n

Viola:<\/b> They were bothering me a lot then.<\/p>\n

Jones:<\/b> Thyroid. She had thyroid problem?<\/p>\n

Viola:<\/b> I have over-active thyroids.<\/p>\n

Woman 8:<\/b> Dad, when um, when I was in the kitchen, we were discussing um, she was on snacks and she had a thyroid problem, so I know that this exists.<\/p>\n

Regina Bowser<\/b>:<\/b> Um, Dad, like she didn\u2019t take on no responsibilities in the States either, \u2018cause like um, like when like she coulda had a chance, you know, to get this um, swap meet (unintelligible word under radio) together, like, she would go out to Berkeley over to this man\u2019s house, and he brought us a color TV and all this stuff in commune, and she was taking trips to L.A. and all this, you know, going to weddings<\/i> and all this stuff, that\u2019s why I got all hostile.<\/p>\n

Jones:<\/b> Very (unintelligible word, could be \u201cimpressive\u201d) file on you, we got a lot of hostilities that you need to get free of, the\u2013 you left the nursing department. Whatever in the hell the reason you left the nursing department, I don\u2019t understand it. (Pause) And thyroid can be used as an excuse too, \u2018cause I know people here (struggles over words) the thyroid problem, they keep right on.<\/p>\n

Woman 10:<\/b> Dad, I was trying to uh, integrate the protocol, \u2018cause only at this point, Lisa [probably Layton] is doing it, and I asked if uh, Viola would do it also, and she said she did have the time during the day, and she did it a few times, and then she just didn\u2019t follow through with it at all.<\/p>\n

Jones:<\/b> Yeah, and when I was vomiting, it didn\u2019t take me (unintelligible words under radio) get my mind off of that, as I recall, because I also thought of um, the pain that babies were having of\u2013 with star\u2013 starving feelings in their stomach, the pains, and the mother watching them. A lot of you wouldn\u2019t nurse all your aches and pains if you\u2019d think<\/i> more about other people.<\/p>\n
