Clara Johnson:<\/strong> Testing. One two three. Testing. One two three.<\/p>\n

Wade Medlock:<\/strong> Hello.<\/p>\n

Johnson:<\/strong> Now, okay, uh, Mac [James McElvane] just left and the other people left and I got them to lock the door, \u2018cause see, I don\u2019t want nobody in here right now. Okay, now, what you say you wanna do?<\/p>\n

Medlock:<\/strong> Well, I\u2019m going to\u2013 if I don\u2019t get the money to pay for these things, if he\u2013 I\u2019m suffering myself, and the people here at the Temple withholding my money and Mabel [Medlock]\u2019s money, and we can\u2019t\u2013 we can\u2019t turn wi\u2013 without expenses, without running and asking somebody for something. We di\u2013 Mabel doesn\u2019t want to go commune. Why they say, if she didn\u2019t go commune, one of us couldn\u2019t go commune. So I\u2013\u00a0I\u2013\u00a0I\u2013\u00a0I\u2013\u00a0I do want<\/em> a portion of my money. If they don\u2019t, I\u2019m going to go down and talk to the federal<\/em> folk about it, and\u2013 and I\u2019m going to have it.<\/p>\n

Johnson:<\/strong> Oh, I see.<\/p>\n

Medlock:<\/strong> I mean, I\u2019m gonna have mine. I\u2019m not gone suffer like I\u2019m\u2013 I\u2013 I\u2019m suffering and putting her where she\u2013\u00a0Mabel\u2019s afraid, because those people threatened to kill<\/em> her about her own money when Ijames [likely Archie] and all of \u2018em were jumping at her, and she didn\u2019t even know what to do. That was a lowdown dirty act. (Pause)<\/p>\n

Johnson:<\/strong> Well, I\u2013 (cut off by Medlock)<\/p>\n

Medlock:<\/strong> And she hadn\u2019t been willing to do it. And you know she hadn\u2019t. And uh\u2013 Now, her mother\u2019s out here, and she<\/em> can\u2019t take her to the Promised Land, there\u2019s no way<\/em>\u2013 there\u2019s no way. There\u2019s no way<\/em> you could\u2013 she\u2019d die afore she got to New York. (Pause) I don\u2019t care who\u2019s<\/em> trying to hold her up, she\u2019d die<\/em> before she\u2019d\u2013 I know what the condition of that woman.<\/p>\n

Johnson:<\/strong> Umm-hmm. [Yes]. Uh-hmm. Well, (unintelligible phrase) like I say before, you know, I don\u2019t live down that way, you and Mabel. And uh, (sighs) you know\u2013<\/p>\n

Medlock:<\/strong> Well, you\u2013 they\u2013 you (stretches out word) sho\u2019 did put a problem down here with her. You sho\u2019 did put a problem down here with her. Mabel wasn\u2019t intending to bring her back in. You<\/em> put that problem in here. Nobody but you. And I\u2019ve done (stretches out word) everything I may\u2019ve ever known to help you, since I\u2013 since I\u2013 since I\u2019ve been here.<\/p>\n

Johnson:<\/strong> Well, I really appreciate it, too.<\/p>\n

Medlock:<\/strong> Yeah, you sure do. And I\u2019m tellin\u2019 you, I\u2013 and you have done us more harm than any one person on this (unintelligible word). Now that\u2019s the truth. You<\/em> told me one time \u2013 and as much as that we\u2019ve done \u2013 that\u2013 that you found Jim Jones, you didn\u2019t need me. You remember that?<\/p>\n

Johnson:<\/strong> (Pause) (Slowly) No, I don\u2019t remember that. But uh\u2013<\/p>\n

Medlock:<\/strong> Oh, yes, you did. Yes, you did. Well, uh, I think that\u2019s a very low<\/em> down way to do. And I\u2013 I\u2013\u00a0What uh\u2013 Just\u2013\u00a0I\u2013 I can\u2019t refuse people. I\u2019m made up that way. I forgive people for what they\u2019ve done. (tape fades) I don\u2019t\u2013 I don\u2019t hold it against them. But I\u2013 (tape fades out momentarily) this lowdown\u2013<\/p>\n

Johnson:<\/strong> (unintelligible) (Pause, volume increases) Now, okay, I\u2019m sorry, uh-huh.<\/p>\n

Medlock:<\/strong> I said, I put it in my book of remembrance. I\u2013 I\u2019d let my future\u2013 my past\u2013 my past be my future confidence in anybody. If you take your past and then look at that person, you can let that first thing be your future confidence. They\u2019d have driven us around like dogs, and we\u2019ve given more money in this cause, I believe, than any one person in here. I really do. And then they\u2019re trying to take that away. (Pause)<\/p>\n

(Two people talk over each other, Johnson unintelligible)<\/p>\n

Medlock:<\/strong> When Mother [Marceline Jones] come\u2013 I\u2019m hoping she will come, I\u2019m\u2013 I may not go, I may wait till she come here, and when she comes, I\u2019m gonna call her and tell her\u2013 If Father doesn\u2019t come, I\u2019ll tell him<\/em>. Uh\u2013 They even threatened to kill her about her money in that council room that night, and nobody knows what went on at my home when I went back there. I had to pack Mabel in my arms from that garage to my bedroom and put her in bed. And then I called Father through the Spirit. Father came. Father told me what to\u2013 what to do. And uh, the only thing that I know, Jim will live up to his word, but there isn\u2019t a council member \u2013 I mean, not one, I mean, not one \u2013\u00a0is worth a damn. I know<\/em> that. (Pause) And they all after just what they can get. Jim didn\u2019t choose this council. You know how they got in?<\/p>\n

Johnson:<\/strong> How?<\/p>\n

Medlock:<\/strong> I\u2019m gone tell you.<\/p>\n

Johnson:<\/strong> How?<\/p>\n

Medlock:<\/strong> Uh\u2013 Just like somebody (stumbles over words) giving him\u2013 giving him a name, and he took \u2018em. Took \u2018em along at\u2013 at\u2013 because they were represented by somebody. And the same people that have uh\u2013 that have threatened to kill<\/em> him, that have poisoned<\/em> him, have come out of this council. (Pause) And some of them have gone by the way of the ways, some have gone by the way of the streets, some have gone about their business. And\u2013 You know it too. But I\u2019m gone tell you, I never seen such a bunch of lowdown dirty people in the\u2013 in all my life. (Pause) And come talkin\u2019 about, do I want to go to the Promised Land. Uh\u2013 If they wouldn\u2019t accept me, I would\u2013 I put 26 years in counseling, recreation, playgrounds, schools and everything, and they get a bunch of dope addicts to be counselors when they have ru\u2013 bo\u2013 bought enough things that even cover up their ass. That\u2019s\u2013 That\u2019s low\u2013 That\u2019s\u2013 I mean, that is\u2013 That don\u2019t make sense<\/em>. Then I\u2019m gonna go to the Promised Land and having them bossing me the rest of my life? Hoo! (Pause) That\u2019s the worst thing I ever seen in my life. (Pause) Well, I just had to get it off my chest.<\/p>\n

Johnson:<\/strong> Well, I\u2019m glad you did. Like I said before, I\u2019m sorry<\/em>, you know, that uh, you feel that I been such a terrible person and let you down, (unintelligible under Medlock)<\/p>\n

Medlock:<\/strong> You sure have. But uh, that\u2019s all right. I never have\u2013 I never have in my life, have begged for nothing. But I got out and begged for this council. Begged for this project, please. I put more dadgum council (unintelligible word) uh\u2013 (unintelligible word) money in that place than all the other people put together. But that\u2019s all right. I don\u2019t mind him. I\u2019d do it again. But\u2013<\/p>\n

Johnson:<\/strong> (unintelligible)<\/p>\n

Medlock:<\/strong> But, that uh\u2013\u00a0what uh\u2013 I\u2013 and\u2013 and your\u2013\u00a0and that council is the one who ran us off of the street. It\u2019s nothing but\u2013 That was free money, money that was (stumbles over words), just by mistreating people, doing everything just like that old guy up in uh\u2013 up in\u2013 (unintelligible words) I wasn\u2019t never going back up in there anymore. Up to Frisco. That ol\u2019 nigger standing around, I\u2019m gone start kickin\u2019 ass.<\/p>\n

Johnson:<\/strong> Well, he\u2019s not even there<\/em> anymore, so\u2013<\/p>\n

Medlock:<\/strong> Oh, he\u2019s gone\u2013 he\u2019s gone\u2013 he\u2019s gone over. He\u2019s gone over in the Promised Land. You think I\u2019m gonna go over there and be on that council the rest of my life. I would not do it to save nobody\u2013 I\u2019ll die right here in this room before I do it. (Pause) There\u2019s nothing<\/em> over there but slavery. That\u2019s all (unintelligible word) (Pause) If people can\u2019t do no better, then that\u2019s all right. But if you can do better, that\u2019s a hell of a place to go. (Pause) So I\u2019m\u2013 I\u2019m gone wet\u2013 wait and I\u2019m gone see what I can do. I (unintelligible word) might go down and talk and see if I can get my m\u2013 get these things paid for and tell \u2018em why I can\u2019t get it.<\/p>\n

Johnson:<\/strong> Um-hmm. You mean, you\u2019re gone do what, now?<\/p>\n

Medlock:<\/strong> Nothing. (stumbles over words) I\u2019ll bet I\u2019ll get it, because like the federal government\u2013 that\u2019s my (unintelligible word) they can\u2019t take away from you, your\u2013 your\u2013 your life support.<\/p>\n

Johnson:<\/strong> You\u2013 you mean for\u2013<\/p>\n

Medlock:<\/strong> Nothing.<\/p>\n
