Go ahead.<\/p>\n<p><b>Mike:<\/b> Hi, Dad.<\/p>\n<p><b>Dad:<\/b> Hi.<\/p>\n<p><b>Mike:<\/b> I was just\u2014 I\u2019m calling to see how you\u2019ve been doing. I\u2019m\u2014<\/p>\n<p><b>Dad:<\/b> Well, I\u2019m doing fine.<\/p>\n<p><b>Mike:<\/b> I\u2019m in the city right now. I\u2019m calling from a friend\u2019s house, so I couldn\u2019t make a\u2014\u00a0a regular call.<\/p>\n<p><b>Dad:<\/b> Oh. Great. Well, uh\u2014 Where are you living now?<\/p>\n<p><b>Mike:<\/b> I\u2019m still in the valley.<\/p>\n<p><b>Dad:<\/b> I see. Are you still working for\u2014 in that photography studio?<\/p>\n<p><b>Mike:<\/b> Yeah, I\u2019m sure am. I\u2019m (laughs) really enjoying it, too, it\u2019s really neat. I\u2019m getting into printing too, so\u2014<\/p>\n<p><b>Dad:<\/b> Uh-huh.<\/p>\n<p><b>Mike:<\/b> We\u2019ve gotten a new printing press, and stuff, and I\u2019m really enjoying learning how to use it.<\/p>\n<p><b>Dad:<\/b> Uh-huh. Well, that\u2019s great. I\u2019m glad you called, uh\u2014 I been uh, wondering about you and uh, Chris [Christian Rozynko]. What\u2019s been happening with\u2014 to you\u2014 to Chris?<\/p>\n<p><b>Mike:<\/b> Well, Chris has moved down to L.A. for a little while. He was doing a job down there with his wife. He and his wife have\u2014<\/p>\n<p><b>Dad:<\/b> Oh, what kind of a job are they doing?<\/p>\n<p><b>Mike:<\/b> He\u2019s a\u2014 a part time electrician.<\/p>\n<p><b>Dad:<\/b> Oh, I see.<\/p>\n<p><b>Mike:<\/b> He\u2019s wiring up some houses down there. He\u2019s\u2014<\/p>\n<p><b>Dad:<\/b> Uh-huh.<\/p>\n<p><b>Mike:<\/b> His residence is here, he just moved down there for a while.<\/p>\n<p><b>Dad:<\/b> I see. Uh-huh. Was he uh\u2014\u00a0well, is he\u2014 is he married, uh, or not?<\/p>\n<p><b>Mike:<\/b> (Obvious tone) Yeah, he\u2019s married [to Diane Louie Rozynko].<\/p>\n<p><b>Dad:<\/b> Well, uh, that\u2019s uh, you know, that\u2019s moot. My understanding was that it was a political marriage.<\/p>\n<p><b>Mike:<\/b> (Incredulous) What?<\/p>\n<p><b>Dad:<\/b> Well, that it was a\u2014\u00a0they were really married in name only. (Pause) Because that was\u2014 that was my understanding.<\/p>\n<p><b>Mike:<\/b> Oh, I understood he loved her very much.<\/p>\n<p><b>Dad:<\/b> Huh?<\/p>\n<p><b>Mike:<\/b> My understanding was he loved her really a lot.<\/p>\n<p><b>Dad:<\/b> I see. Well, that\u2019s\u2014 that\u2019s good. Glad it\u2019s uh, it worked. Well, uh, when can you uh\u2014 when uh, can you <i>visit<\/i>?<\/p>\n<p><b>Mike:<\/b> Well, I don\u2019t know yet. Um\u2014\u00a0My schedule\u2019s (short laugh) really tight. Um, I can call you back on it if\u2014 if you want.<\/p>\n<p><b>Dad:<\/b> Okay.<\/p>\n<p><b>Mike:<\/b> So I\u2014 I\u2019ll ask my boss, if I can get a s\u2014\u00a0get a couple days off or something.<\/p>\n<p><b>Dad:<\/b> Uh-huh. That\u2019d <i>really<\/i> be nice.<\/p>\n<p><b>Mike:<\/b> What time would be best for you? On a weekend, or\u2014<\/p>\n<p><b>Dad:<\/b> Uh, yeah, it really would. Uh, weekend would be really great. You know, that\u2014 that\u2014 it wouldn\u2019t uh\u2014 If you could let me know, um\u2014 Well, let\u2019s see. (Pause) (Muses) Uh, let\u2019s see, today is the 31st, or no, let\u2019s see. Yeah, 31st. (Unintelligible word). No, tomorrow\u2019s the 31st. All right. Aah, well\u2014 (Pause) (Murmurs to himself) Well, next week uh, seems to be all right, or the week after that. Uh, the next\u2014 the next two weeks would be all right for me. The <i>third<\/i> week won\u2019t be all right.<\/p>\n<p><b>Mike:<\/b> Um-hmm.<\/p>\n<p><b>Dad:<\/b> \u2018Cause I\u2019ll be uh, going someplace, but uh, August seventh and the fourteen will be just fine.<\/p>\n<p><b>Mike:<\/b> Okay. I\u2019ll\u2014 I\u2019ll check on it. How are you doing, though?<\/p>\n<p><b>Dad:<\/b> I\u2019m just fine.<\/p>\n<p><b>Mike:<\/b> I\u2014<\/p>\n<p><b>Dad:<\/b> One\u2014 one moment. Hold the line. (Pause) Uh, you just happened to uh, uh, hit me right, because uh\u2014 Mike? \u2018Cause Sandy is here, and she wanted to be uh, talking to you. You want to\u2014 here\u2019s uh, here\u2019s Sandy.<\/p>\n<p><b>Sandy:<\/b> Hi, Mike.<\/p>\n<p><b>Mike:<\/b> (Tone is flatter) Hi, Sandy.<\/p>\n<p><b>Sandy:<\/b> Hi, how are you?<\/p>\n<p><b>Mike:<\/b> Fine.<\/p>\n<p><b>Sandy:<\/b> What\u2019s going on? Anything new?<\/p>\n<p><b>Mike:<\/b> No, nothing new as such.<\/p>\n<p><b>Sandy:<\/b> Well, it\u2019s really nice to hear you. I haven\u2019t seen you in a long, long time. (Pause)<\/p>\n<p><b>Mike:<\/b> Well, I\u2019m working.<\/p>\n<p><b>Sandy:<\/b> Oh, that\u2019s good. So am I. Uh\u2014 you going to college?<\/p>\n<p><b>Mike:<\/b> No, I\u2019m still working at the shop.<\/p>\n<p><b>Sandy:<\/b> You plan on going to college?<\/p>\n<p><b>Mike:<\/b> No, not right now.<\/p>\n<p><b>Sandy:<\/b> Oh. (Pause) (Unintelligible under Mike)<\/p>\n<p><b>Mike:<\/b> Well, later on, but not right now.<\/p>\n<p><b>Both:<\/b> Huh?<\/p>\n<p><b>Mike:<\/b> Later on, I\u2019m\u2014 I\u2019m really enjoying working where I am right now.<\/p>\n<p><b>Sandy:<\/b> Uh-huh. Well, that\u2019s good. That\u2019s good. I just, you know, hope that you get your opportunity to go to college like you\u2014 like you were hoping to.<\/p>\n<p><b>Mike:<\/b> Oh, I will. It\u2019s been offered to me a lot, I just uh, want to stay where I am right now.<\/p>\n<p><b>Sandy:<\/b> Well, you know, I understand that. You know, well, I intend to be going to college next year, too. I\u2019m going to become an engineer, hopefully.<\/p>\n<p><b>Mike:<\/b> (More animated) Oh, really? Where are you going?<\/p>\n<p><b>Sandy:<\/b> San Luis\u2014 San Luis Obispo Poly Tech, hopefully.<\/p>\n<p><b>Mike:<\/b> San Luis Obispo?<\/p>\n<p><b>Sandy:<\/b> Mmm-hmm.<\/p>\n<p><b>Mike:<\/b> That\u2019s really neat.<\/p>\n<p><b>Sandy:<\/b> Yeah, it\u2019s a\u2014 a polytechnical school down south, and it\u2019s really high-rated and everything, so, you know\u2014 hope (Whisper unintelligible). How\u2019s Chris?<\/p>\n<p><b>Mike:<\/b> He\u2014 He\u2019s great.<\/p>\n<p><b>Sandy:<\/b> He really is?<\/p>\n<p><b>Mike:<\/b> Mmm-hmm.<\/p>\n<p><b>Sandy:<\/b> Well, that\u2019s good. Is he going to law school?<\/p>\n<p><b>Mike:<\/b> Well, he got out for a year or two, he\u2019s become a part-time electrician. He\u2019s going to go back\u2014<\/p>\n<p><b>Sandy:<\/b> Oh\u2014 Well, I really hope he goes to law school, \u2018cause you know that four years at USF [University of San Francisco] kinda, you know\u2014<\/p>\n<p><b>Mike:<\/b> Oh, yeah, he\u2019s going to go back to law school. (laughs) He wouldn\u2019t waste that much time on nothing.<\/p>\n<p><b>Sandy:<\/b> Well, that\u2019s\u2014 Uh, you know, I hope not, you know, I really hope that he\u2014 \u2018Cause I know he was really anxious to (Unintelligible word), you know. And uh, I hope he really does. I don\u2019t know\u2014 I don\u2019t know\u2014 kinda nice, (Unintelligible word) lawyer, you know.<\/p>\n<p><b>Mike:<\/b> Umm-hmm.<\/p>\n<p><b>Sandy:<\/b> But it\u2014 And you know, I\u2014 Were you still planning on becoming a doctor?<\/p>\n<p><b>Mike:<\/b> Um, <i>certainly<\/i>.<\/p>\n<p><b>Sandy:<\/b> Really?<\/p>\n<p><b>Mike:<\/b> Umm-hmm.<\/p>\n<p><b>Sandy:<\/b> Doctor\u2014 Another Dr. Rozynko, huh? Well, that\u2019s really <i>great<\/i>. Are you going to be coming down at all, to see Dad?<\/p>\n<p><b>Mike:<\/b> I don\u2019t know. We were just talking about that. I gotta\u2014 I gotta check back.<\/p>\n<p><b>Sandy:<\/b> Yeah?<\/p>\n<p><b>Mike:<\/b> Check my schedule, you know\u2014 (Unintelligible sentence)<\/p>\n<p><b>Sandy:<\/b> You know, \u2018cause I would\u2014\u00a0you know, I\u2019d like to see you, you know, \u2018cause I haven\u2019t seen you for a long time. You know? After all, you\u2019re my brother. And I really, you know, kinda miss you. Haven\u2019t seen you for a while.<\/p>\n<p><b>Mike:<\/b> Yeah, I do too, Sandy. I\u2014<\/p>\n<p><b>Sandy:<\/b> Um\u2014 Well, everything is (Unintelligible balance of sentence), you know.<\/p>\n<p>(Pause in tape for 30 seconds)<\/p>\n<p><b>Sandy:<\/b> \u2014you know, you\u2019re not parachuting. Why? When did you\u2014<\/p>\n<p><b>Mike:<\/b> Oh, well, you\u2014 you mentioned that a long time ago, I just wanted to see if you were still taking it.<\/p>\n<p><b>Sandy:<\/b> Oh. Well, no. (Laughs) I wasn\u2019t planning on, you know, going\u2014 going into <i>parachuting<\/i>.<\/p>\n<p><b>Mike:<\/b> (Laughs)<\/p>\n<p><b>Sandy:<\/b> How\u2019s Mom [Annie Joyce Rozynko]?<\/p>\n<p><b>Mike:<\/b> She\u2019s great. She\u2019s really enjoying the work.<\/p>\n<p><b>Sandy:<\/b> What\u2019s she doing there?<\/p>\n<p><b>Mike:<\/b> She\u2019s on nursing\u2014<\/p>\n<p><b>Sandy:<\/b> She still working in a convalescent hospital? (Pause)<\/p>\n<p><b>Mike:<\/b> Umm, I think\u2014 I don\u2019t think so, I think it\u2019s in acute right now.<\/p>\n<p><b>Sandy:<\/b> An acute?<\/p>\n<p><b>Mike:<\/b> That\u2019s a regular hospital.<\/p>\n<p><b>Sandy:<\/b> Oh, she <i>is<\/i>? Hey, um is she\u2014\u00a0did she decide to go back to college and get her B.A.?<\/p>\n<p><b>Mike:<\/b> I don\u2019t know\u2014 I have no idea.<\/p>\n<p><b>Sandy:<\/b> Well, I remember that she was talking about it before I left\u2014 left. You know\u2014 you know\u2014 I was trying to encourage her to go back to get her\u2014\u00a0get her B.S., because, you know, she\u2019d get paid more, you know. And you know, if you want prestige, you should get a better <i>job<\/i>, and, you know, if you see her, (voice trembles) you know, tell her I said hi.<\/p>\n<p><b>Mike:<\/b> Okay.<\/p>\n<p><b>Sandy:<\/b> Tell her that I really, you know, I kind of miss her, tell her that I care for her a lot, and I think about her a lot. So\u2014<\/p>\n<p><b>Mike:<\/b> All right. I certainly will.<\/p>\n<p><b>Sandy:<\/b> You know, tell her (Unintelligible phrase under soft voice), you know, that I worry about her, with how she\u2019s doing and stuff. You know\u2014 Well, how\u2019s everything else? Everything for you going real well?<\/p>\n<p><b>Mike:<\/b> (Flatter tone) Sure is. Couldn\u2019t be better. (Unintelligible phrase)<\/p>\n<p><b>Sandy:<\/b> Well. That\u2019s really good. (Emotional) I\u2019m really happy for you, Mike, if you\u2019re happy.<\/p>\n<p><b>Mike:<\/b> (Snorts) Thanks. Well\u2014 Really good\u2014 good to talk to you.<\/p>\n<p><b>Sandy:<\/b> Yeah? Well, Michael, I just wanted to know\u2014 you to know that I really care (voice too soft), and I really care for Chris and Mike, you know, just \u2018cause um, I\u2019m not living any more with you. (voice soft) And Mike, you know, you\u2019ve changed (voice too soft). You are my brother. I do love you. And would you like to talk to Mi\u2014 to Dad again?<\/p>\n<p><b>Mike:<\/b> Yeah, I think so.<\/p>\n<p><b>Sandy:<\/b> Okay.<\/p>\n<p><b>Mike:<\/b> Okay, bye.<\/p>\n<p><b>Sandy:<\/b> Okay, bye. Okay, it was it\u2014 uh, that was all, I guess, so\u2014<\/p>\n<p><b>Dad:<\/b> Huh?<\/p>\n<p><b>Mike:<\/b> I want to\u2014 I want to end this phone call, because you\u2014 you\u2019re a\u2014 running up a bill on your phone and everything so\u2014<\/p>\n<p><b>Dad:<\/b> Okay, well, uh, if you can come uh, and visit me on the seventh or the fourteenth, that would be just wonderful. What\u2019s your transportation, uh, Mike?<\/p>\n<p><b>Mike:<\/b> (Pause) Okay, I\u2019ll work it out, I might be able to borrow a car or something.<\/p>\n<p><b>Dad:<\/b> I see. Okay. Do you\u2014 do you drive now?<\/p>\n<p><b>Mike:<\/b> Do I drive?<\/p>\n<p><b>Dad:<\/b> Yeah.<\/p>\n<p><b>Mike:<\/b> Yeah, I drive.<\/p>\n<p><b>Dad:<\/b> Oh, okay. Well, I didn\u2019t know.
