{"id":30890,"date":"2013-07-25T15:53:08","date_gmt":"2013-07-25T15:53:08","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/alternativejonestown.com\/?page_id=30890"},"modified":"2025-03-20T08:47:56","modified_gmt":"2025-03-20T15:47:56","slug":"silver","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/jonestown.sdsu.edu\/?page_id=30890","title":{"rendered":"Unrehearsed"},"content":{"rendered":"<blockquote><p>The calendar has spoken<\/p>\n<p>It\u2019s time to write<br \/>\nI\u2019ll put out some worms<br \/>\nMaybe something will bite<\/p>\n<p>What is it that people<br \/>\nReally want to read<br \/>\nBetter yet<br \/>\nIs there a stirring that I feel<\/p>\n<p>The painful bandage<br \/>\nThat has been ripped off<br \/>\nMy 17 yr marriage<br \/>\nHas been both good and tough<\/p>\n<p>10 months of separation<br \/>\nParallel being a survivor<br \/>\nAs the year has progressed<br \/>\nI am happier and wiser<\/p>\n<p>The 30 years<br \/>\nOf recovery from jones<br \/>\nHas put new marrow<br \/>\nInto my bones<\/p>\n<p>Sometimes I see his face<br \/>\nIn a passing car<br \/>\nI look right through his shades<br \/>\nAnd see a cruel prison guard<\/p>\n<p>In 1978 with a loss this great<br \/>\nNothing made sense we could surmise<br \/>\nThings had to be tossed overboard<br \/>\nSo your personal ship could survive<\/p>\n<p>To reclaim our lost parts<br \/>\nAnd to defy the fear<br \/>\nIf van gogh could have done it<br \/>\nHe would still have his ear<\/p>\n<p>Valuable lost parts<br \/>\nCome in every size and shape<br \/>\nCreativity, humor,<br \/>\nHow \u2018bout being hopeful for pete\u2019s sake?<\/p>\n<p>This poem may seem flippant<br \/>\nBut that\u2019s not how I feel<br \/>\nAs life has moved on<br \/>\nIt\u2019s about the meal<\/p>\n<p>I try to eat good thoughts<br \/>\nThat are hopeful and without blame<br \/>\nSo when I fall asleep at night<br \/>\nWhat gets better is my aim<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><em>(Andy Silver, a former member of Peoples Temple, is now a divorce and federal mediator in Charlotte, North Carolina.
