{"id":34253,"date":"2013-07-28T21:48:06","date_gmt":"2013-07-28T21:48:06","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/alternativejonestown.com\/?page_id=34253"},"modified":"2013-10-13T19:40:11","modified_gmt":"2013-10-13T19:40:11","slug":"flight","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/jonestown.sdsu.edu\/?page_id=34253","title":{"rendered":"Jonestown Survivor Establishes Outreach Effort for Prisoners with Temple Connections"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"MsoNormal2\">A sustained effort to establish and maintain relationships with former members of Peoples Temple and their relatives who are in prison was recently <a href=\"http:\/\/jonestown.sdsu.edu\/?page_id=34350\">launched<\/a> by Leslie Wagner-Wilson, a Jonestown survivor.<\/p>\n<p>Leslie carried her two-year-old son Jakari out of Jonestown early on November 18, the day of the tragedy. Jakari has spent much of his life in jail, and was <a href=\"http:\/\/jonestown.sdsu.edu\/?page_id=34347\">recently sentenced<\/a> to a life term.<\/p>\n<p>But Jakari is not the only one. Leslie\u2019s research and conversations have led to the identification and location of a half dozen other sons of Temple members who are in prison on a variety of charges.<\/p>\n<p>Leslie\u2019s goal is to establish a network of people \u2013 whether they have personal connections to the Temple or not \u2013 who are willing to write letters, provide a sounding board and otherwise provide human contact on the outside for these prisoners.
