Suzanne Jones Cartmell:<\/strong> Yeah.<\/p>\n

Tom:<\/strong> Yeah, [this is] Tom. I tried to reach you yesterday, but I guess you moved your office. Uh, I wanted to call you about your radio patch.<\/p>\n

Suzanne:<\/strong> Yeah.<\/p>\n

Tom:<\/strong> Uh, Jim\u2019s upriver right now. He\u2019ll be home in about three or four days, I guess, so I can give it to you then. (Pause) And\u2013<\/p>\n

Suzanne:<\/strong> He\u2019s what?<\/p>\n

Tom:<\/strong> Jim\u2019s upriver right now\u2013<\/p>\n

Suzanne:<\/strong> Okay.<\/p>\n

Tom:<\/strong> \u2013and he\u2019ll be back in about three or four days, and I can give it to you then. By the way, that source\u2013 You know, you wanted to know the source. Well, that was\u2013 came\u2013 like, you know\u2013<\/p>\n

Suzanne:<\/strong> Well\u2013<\/p>\n

Tom:<\/strong> Wanted to discuss it right then, but if\u2013 if you want to know, it came from Tim, and\u2013<\/p>\n

Suzanne:<\/strong> Tim who.<\/p>\n

Tom:<\/strong> Stoen. And it\u2013 And we got it through a person that he told in the Examiner<\/em> that he thought was his friend, and I didn\u2019t want to throw the guy\u2019s name out.<\/p>\n

Suzanne:<\/strong> Well, I know that\u2019s not true, because I recall where the source was before, when I had talked to Dad about it.<\/p>\n

Tom:<\/strong> Well, I don\u2019t know\u2013<\/p>\n

Suzanne:<\/strong> Anyway. I\u2019ll ask him the questions.<\/p>\n

Tom:<\/strong> Okay, great.<\/p>\n

Suzanne:<\/strong> And I want to talk to him directly.<\/p>\n

Tom:<\/strong> That\u2019s fine.<\/p>\n

Suzanne:<\/strong> Okay. Do you have his number?<\/p>\n

Tom:<\/strong> Uh, your number here? Uh, I have\u2013 I don\u2019t\u2013 I don\u2019t have a number\u2013<\/p>\n

Suzanne:<\/strong> No.<\/p>\n

Tom:<\/strong> \u2013where I can\u2013 See the band comes up late at night or early morning, and I don\u2019t have a number.<\/p>\n

Suzanne:<\/strong> Do you have a number\u2013 Do you have the number to Georgetown?<\/p>\n

Tom:<\/strong> (Reluctant) Yeah.<\/p>\n

Suzanne:<\/strong> Okay. Can you give it to me?<\/p>\n

Tom:<\/strong> May\u2013 yeah, it\u2019s\u2013 but I don\u2019t\u2013 I don\u2019t think that\u2019s where he\u2019s at.<\/p>\n

Suzanne:<\/strong> Well\u2013<\/p>\n

Tom:<\/strong> He doesn\u2019t go to Georgetown.<\/p>\n

Suzanne:<\/strong> Okay, well, give me both numbers then, because I\u2019d rather talk to him directly, instead of, you know, trying to have uh, information passed back and forth.<\/p>\n

Tom:<\/strong> Well, you\u2019re not gonna\u2013 you\u2019re not gonna get him in\u2013 you\u2019re not gonna get him in Georgetown.<\/p>\n

Suzanne:<\/strong> Well, give me the both numbers anyway.<\/p>\n

Tom:<\/strong> Hold on. (Long pause) Got a pencil and paper?<\/p>\n

Suzanne:<\/strong> Yeah.<\/p>\n

Tom:<\/strong> 68787.<\/p>\n

Suzanne:<\/strong> 68- What?<\/p>\n

Tom:<\/strong> 68787. You have to go through the overseas operator.<\/p>\n

Suzanne:<\/strong> 6878\u2013<\/p>\n

Tom:<\/strong> Seven.<\/p>\n

Suzanne:<\/strong> Seven. Okay, which one is that for?<\/p>\n

Tom:<\/strong> That\u2019s\u2013 they\u2019re both Georgetown.<\/p>\n

(Pause)<\/p>\n

Suzanne:<\/strong> 68787. Okay.<\/p>\n

Tom:<\/strong> Yeah. (Pause) And you just get hold of the operator and\u2013 and tell her you want uh, Georgetown, Guyana, and she\u2019ll switch you to an overseas operator, and then you give that overseas operator that number. (Pause) But you ain\u2019t gonna\u2013 George\u2013 He\u2019s not going to be in Georgetown.<\/p>\n

Suzanne:<\/strong> Okay.<\/p>\n

[Two talk over each other briefly, both unintelligible]<\/p>\n

Suzanne:<\/strong> What\u2019s the number for the uh, other one?<\/p>\n

Tom:<\/strong> That\u2019s 71924.<\/p>\n

Suzanne:<\/strong> 71924. Okay, and that\u2019s for (Pause) Jonestown.<\/p>\n

Tom:<\/strong> Yeah, there\u2013 No, no, uh-uh [no], there is<\/em> no number to George\u2013 Jonestown, those are both Georgetown numbers. (Pause)<\/p>\n

Suzanne:<\/strong> Okay, who usually answers down there? Who\u2019s manning the phone down there?<\/p>\n

Tom:<\/strong> Uh\u2013 Whoever\u2019s\u2013 you\u2013 you know, just whoever\u2019s in the house.<\/p>\n

Suzanne:<\/strong> Oh. (Pause) Okay. And you\u2019re saying that\u2013<\/p>\n

Tom:<\/strong> I\u2019m saying\u2013<\/p>\n

Suzanne:<\/strong> \u2013Tim talked to who?<\/p>\n

Tom:<\/strong> Say\u2013 uh, a guy who works in the Examiner<\/em> that he thought is his friend, and this guy in the Examiner<\/em> told us what he said.<\/p>\n

Suzanne:<\/strong> Tim talked to his friend? (unintelligible under Tom)<\/p>\n

Tom:<\/strong> Somebody he thought was a friend in the Examiner<\/em>.<\/p>\n

Suzanne:<\/strong> Okay, and what\u2019s his name?<\/p>\n

Tom:<\/strong> I\u2019m not going to throw that out.<\/p>\n

(Long pause)<\/p>\n

Suzanne:<\/strong> Okay. Where\u2019s Tim now?<\/p>\n

Tom:<\/strong> Tim?<\/p>\n

Suzanne:<\/strong> Mm-hmm.<\/p>\n

Tom:<\/strong> I don\u2019t know.<\/p>\n

Suzanne:<\/strong> When did he do this, (unintelligible word)?<\/p>\n

Tom:<\/strong> Well, I got it a couple of weeks ago. I was trying to get it\u2013 a hold of you for a week before I finally got a hold of you.<\/p>\n

Suzanne:<\/strong> You were trying to get hold\u2013 a hold of me for a week<\/em> before you got hold of me? That doesn\u2019t make sense.<\/p>\n

Tom:<\/strong> Yeah, they said you were sick. When I\u2013 When I called you\u2013 you\u2013 the switchboard, the number that I had there, they said you were sick. (Pause) So whenever it was that I started calling you, that was when I had (unintelligible word), I think it was about two weeks ago.<\/p>\n

Suzanne:<\/strong> Okay. Tim talked to his friend in the Examiner<\/em> co\u2013 uh, building\u2013<\/p>\n

Tom:<\/strong> Yeah.<\/p>\n

Suzanne:<\/strong> \u2013who in turned told it to you<\/em>?<\/p>\n

Tom:<\/strong> Right.<\/p>\n

Suzanne:<\/strong> Directly<\/em>?<\/p>\n

Tom:<\/strong> Right. Not to me directly. To people here.<\/p>\n

Suzanne:<\/strong> This guy just called you guys up and said Tim\u2019s doing this. (unintelligible under Tom)<\/p>\n

Tom:<\/strong> Yeah. Yeah, he talks to us. He doesn\u2019t like Tim that much.<\/p>\n

Suzanne:<\/strong> Okay. Okay. Okay, now what did he say, that Tim said.<\/p>\n

Tom:<\/strong> That you were saying that your dad is crazy.<\/p>\n

Suzanne:<\/strong> Who is \u201cyou\u201d?<\/p>\n

Tom:<\/strong> You<\/em>. Suzanne.<\/p>\n

(Pause)<\/p>\n

Suzanne:<\/strong> He said Suzanne.<\/p>\n

Tom:<\/strong> Yeah.<\/p>\n

Suzanne:<\/strong> Does he know my full name?<\/p>\n

Tom:<\/strong> He said Suzanne, Jim\u2019s daughter. (Pause) I tell you\u2013 See, Tim thinks this guy is his friend.<\/p>\n

(Pause)<\/p>\n

Suzanne:<\/strong> Well, so, if Tim thinks that\u2019s his friend<\/em>, why can\u2019t you give me his name<\/em>? \u2018Cause I\u2019m<\/em> not Tim\u2019s friend.<\/p>\n

Tom:<\/strong> Because I\u2019m not going to divulge the source, that\u2019s why.<\/p>\n

(Pause)<\/p>\n

Suzanne:<\/strong> Well, where\u2019s Tim?<\/p>\n

Tom:<\/strong> I do not know where Tim is.<\/p>\n

Suzanne:<\/strong> I\u2019d like to know why he\u2019s (unintelligible under Tom)\u2013 I\u2019d like to know why he did that.<\/p>\n

Tom:<\/strong> So would I. (Pause) The fact is, the guy just uh, sows his trouble wherever he can.<\/p>\n

Suzanne:<\/strong> Well, where is he now?<\/p>\n

Tom:<\/strong> (Gust of air) I don\u2019t know where Tim is.<\/p>\n

Suzanne:<\/strong> Well, okay, you\u2019re saying that he told this to the Examiner<\/em> a couple of weeks ago.<\/p>\n

Tom:<\/strong> He didn\u2019t tell it to the Examiner<\/em>, he told it to a guy that he thinks is his friend in the Examiner<\/em>.<\/p>\n

Suzanne:<\/strong> Okay, and that was a couple of weeks ago\u2013<\/p>\n

Tom:<\/strong> The guy is in fact our friend. Hmm?<\/p>\n

Suzanne:<\/strong> And that was a couple of weeks ago.<\/p>\n

Tom:<\/strong> (Drawls first word) Yeah, I think it was about two weeks ago.<\/p>\n

Suzanne:<\/strong> Okay. So, he must\u2019ve been in town then.<\/p>\n

Tom:<\/strong> I guess he was. Unless it was a telephone call.<\/p>\n

Suzanne:<\/strong> And you don\u2019t know where Tim is now.<\/p>\n

Tom:<\/strong> No.<\/p>\n

(Pause)<\/p>\n

Suzanne:<\/strong> Okay, did you\u2013 Okay, I\u2019m sure you\u2019ve had a chance to talk to Dad. Did you tell him what I said?<\/p>\n

Tom:<\/strong> Hmm?<\/p>\n

Suzanne:<\/strong> Did you tell him what I said?<\/p>\n

Tom:<\/strong> No, he\u2019s upriver. I haven\u2019t talked to him.<\/p>\n

(Pause)<\/p>\n

Suzanne:<\/strong> You haven\u2019t talked to him since I last talked to you.<\/p>\n

Tom:<\/strong> Hmm-hmm [no].<\/p>\n

Suzanne:<\/strong> Okay, well, when I call, I want to make sure, uh\u2013 You told me that you took it upon yourself to call me, and he did not know anything about your calling me and harassing me, right?<\/p>\n

Tom:<\/strong> Right. I did not harass you. I asked you what\u2013 what the source\u2013<\/p>\n

Suzanne:<\/strong> Well, I did not appreciate the way you did it. Okay?<\/p>\n

Tom:<\/strong> All right. All right.<\/p>\n

Suzanne:<\/strong> And if\u2013 you know, if you do that on your own, then I think, you know, he sh\u2013 needs to know about it.<\/p>\n

Tom:<\/strong> Okay, that\u2019s fine. Now, do you want\u2013 you want a phone patch, right?<\/p>\n

Suzanne:<\/strong> Yes, I do.<\/p>\n

Tom:<\/strong> Okay, now\u2013 I\u2013 It will be either late at night or early morning, and I don\u2019t have a number where I can reach him.<\/p>\n

Suzanne:<\/strong> Well, then, I\u2019ll just do the call directly myself.<\/p>\n

Tom:<\/strong> Okay, you can do that, but I don\u2019t think you\u2019ll get him in Georgetown. Go ahead and try it.<\/p>\n

Suzanne:<\/strong> Well, then, I\u2019ll wait\u2013 I\u2019ll do it every day until I do reach him, until they let him know in Jonestown that I\u2019m trying to reach him.<\/p>\n

Tom:<\/strong> Okay, that\u2019s fine.<\/p>\n

Suzanne:<\/strong> And he\u2019ll have to make a trip there so he can catch it or whatever. If he wants to talk to me. If he doesn\u2019t, then that\u2019s fine.<\/p>\n

Tom:<\/strong> Okay, well, I think\u2013<\/p>\n

Suzanne:<\/strong> I\u2019ll try to get hold of Tim and see what his source is.<\/p>\n

Tom:<\/strong> That\u2019s fine. Do whatever you want to do.<\/p>\n

Suzanne:<\/strong> Okay?<\/p>\n

Tom:<\/strong> You know where to reach me.<\/p>\n

(Pause)<\/p>\n

Suzanne:<\/strong> Well, I don\u2019t have to talk to you anymore\u2013<\/p>\n

Tom:<\/strong> No, you don\u2019t.<\/p>\n

Suzanne:<\/strong> \u2013because you just keep passing everything around, and you don\u2019t do what you say you\u2019re going to do.<\/p>\n

Tom:<\/strong> What did I say I was going to do?<\/p>\n

Suzanne:<\/strong> I told you I wanted to be connected directly to Dad\u2013<\/p>\n

Tom:<\/strong> And I told you that I would\u2013<\/p>\n

Suzanne:<\/strong> \u2013and you took it on yourself to make\u2013 you know, c\u2013 to cause trouble that\u2019s gonna hurt<\/em> Dad, then, you know, you\u2019re not helping him at all<\/em>. And I don\u2019t like that one bit.<\/p>\n

Tom:<\/strong> Look. If you want your phone patch in three or four days, you\u2019ll just have to give me a number where I can reach you. All right? I will\u2013 Before I passed any\u2013<\/p>\n

Suzanne:<\/strong> Well, in three or four days, I\u2019ll call you.<\/p>\n

Tom:<\/strong> Fine. Okay, good. It\u2019ll have to late night or early morning. And I don\u2019t guarantee that it\u2019ll happen, but that\u2019s all right if you want to do that.<\/p>\n

Suzanne:<\/strong> Are you\u2013 You don\u2019t guarantee<\/em>?<\/p>\n

Tom:<\/strong> No, I don\u2019t\u2013 Don\u2019t\u2013 I don\u2019t determine when the radio signal\u2019s gonna come up. (Pause) In other words, I don\u2019t have any control over whether the ra\u2013 whether the band is up at uh, three in the afternoon or three in the morning.<\/p>\n

Suzanne:<\/strong> Well, I know you talk to him almost every day.<\/p>\n

Tom:<\/strong> Yeah, but it\u2019s cyc\u2013 it\u2019s cyclic, you know what I mean? And what I\u2019m saying, is the band comes up at different times during the month. (unintelligible under Suzanne)<\/p>\n

Suzanne:<\/strong> That doesn\u2019t matter. It\u2019s every day. And you tried to tell me you haven\u2019t been able to make a patch for two weeks. I think that\u2019s inexcusable, and I think that is not the truth, and I don\u2019t like it.<\/p>\n

Tom:<\/strong> Okay. Okay. I\u2019m not going to argue with you. I really don\u2019t\u2013 I really\u2013<\/p>\n

Suzanne:<\/strong> Okay, you can just tell me if he doesn\u2019t want to talk to me or not\u2013<\/p>\n

Tom:<\/strong> That\u2019s fine. I really don\u2019t care if you believe anything. If you want to phone patch\u2013<\/p>\n

Suzanne:<\/strong> I don\u2019t believe anything you say\u2013<\/p>\n

Tom:<\/strong> Okay.<\/p>\n

Suzanne:<\/strong> \u2013especially if you do it without his authority.<\/p>\n

Tom:<\/strong> That\u2019s fine. Okay. If you don\u2019t want to believe that, that\u2019s all right. If you want a patch, you know where to reach me. Okay?<\/p>\n
