On January 22, 1979, David Crosland, legal counsel, Immigration and Naturalization Service (INS), 425 I Street, N.W., Washington, D.C. (WDC), was contacted and advised of the problem with INS lookout notices placed on surviving members of the People’s Temple (PT). Crosland felt there had to be a solution to the problem, and would determine what action should be taken.<\/p>\n
Mr. Sheehi, INS, WDC, later advised on January 22, 1979, that he was on vacation during the time the stops <\/p>\n

were sent to INS and if they had not been marked special, the staff would not post these notices for up to six days in the lookout book. He normally handles all FBI stops as special. In view of the nature of these requests, he will personally call New York and Miami INS and have the ten remaining PT survivors placed on the special ninety day lookout.<\/p>\n
Washington field will furnish INS the list of the ten remaining PT survivors on January 23, 1979.<\/p>\n
