[Deleted word] comment: During the afternoon of 18 November 1978 a group of hard-core militants of the People&#8217;s Temple Agricultural Movement (PTAM) ambushed and killed Congressman Leo P. [J.] Ryan (D-Cal), and four other members of his party. Following a meeting between Cong. Ryan and PTAM members at the cult\u2019s Jonestown settlement, located near Port Kaituma, Northwest Territory, Guyana. The attack occurred as Congressman Ryan and his party are preparing to depart Port Kaituma airport, enroute to Georgetown.
