Jones:\u00a0<\/strong>\u2013assimilate the Spirit of God. It’s not possible. It’s got to be a sincere thing. You cannot assimilate good feelings. You can make a lot of noise, and it can be like a sounding brass and a tinkling cymbal. Songs got to come from the heart, then it will\u2013 then God (unintelligible word) the praise of the people. When it is\u2013 when it is actually coming from the heart, God\u00a0<\/em>takes over and you’re rejuvenated\u00a0<\/em>by your praise. But when you work up a mechanistic kind of noise, it’s just a sounding brass and tinkling cymbal. You’ve got to get the attitude\u00a0<\/em>correlated with the outward act. There must be the thought\u00a0<\/em>before the demonstration. If you’re talking about joy, you’ve got to feel joy. The trouble with old Pentecostalism in form of its godliness is that many times they have a mechanical way of singing and shouting and clapping, but there’s no joy<\/em>. It’s just a routine<\/em>, just so much noise, but there’s no spirit. Because even though it\u2019s that way for twenty years, and they heard someone else do it, and thus they think that’s suitable. You can go in one of the service, uh, one of this Pentecostal church, and you will notice that they clap different from a Trinitarian church. There\u2019s a difference in the movement of the hand. There\u2019s a difference in the way they sway. You can tell us from others. We all have our own movements<\/em>, and that’s very well indeed, providing that the Spirit\u00a0<\/em>is there.<\/span><\/p>\n

Congregation:\u00a0<\/strong>Responds.<\/span><\/p>\n

Jones:\u00a0<\/strong>If the Spirit is not there, though it\u2019s the Spirit\u00a0<\/em>of God’s presence that lifts us, we must have that recognition that at all\u00a0<\/em>times, thought must be the\u2013 the motivating force\u00a0<\/em>behind the demonstration. When you talk\u00a0<\/em>about God, you must think\u00a0<\/em>about God.<\/span><\/p>\n

Congregation:\u00a0<\/strong>Responds.<\/span><\/p>\n

Jones:\u00a0<\/strong>When you talk about joy, you must consider\u00a0<\/em>joy, you must visualize\u00a0<\/em>joy. You talk about peace? I’ve heard some say peace<\/em>, why, they mean war. I heard some say. praise the Lord. They mean, cut my throat or cut your throat. Our words are so far from the deed, from the demonstration of the act, well, we want to get to the place that our voices say what our minds\u00a0<\/em>think. We want our minds and our attention, our love\u00a0<\/em>and our devotion, our\u2013 our ideas and our opinions, all dwelling upon the fundamental God Divine Love, Divine Love dwelling upon this impersonal, yet personal, magnanimous principle that has lifted\u00a0<\/em>us out of every undesirable circumstance. (Voice climbs) While people are every day facing funerals, accidents, they live in an atmosphere, where we have not known\u00a0<\/em>such, should cause every heart within to say, praise God. I’m not worthy, but I praise you from whom all blessings flow.<\/span><\/p>\n

Congregation:\u00a0<\/strong>Calls.<\/span><\/p>\n

Jones:\u00a0<\/strong>(Ministerial fervor) To think there that Sunday the woman fell out with her head back on the bench, and the actual conscious presence of God. The recognition that I once thought when I was in Shantytown, poor as Job’s turkey, but I heard the promise, I was what I thought. I heard the promise as I thought in my mind, so am I. I heard the promise that I could be like him. (Pause) (Voice moderates then climbs) And in that personification of that principle, I walked ever so slowly down to that woman, as you saw me Sunday. Raised her up. The woman that had heart char\u2013 trouble from a child<\/em>, and she danced for twenty minutes when I said, arise.<\/span><\/p>\n

Congregation:<\/strong>Stirs.<\/span><\/p>\n

Jones:\u00a0<\/strong>Fifteen people in the past week in this atmosphere have arisen<\/em>, carried up, brought up in stretchers, brought up, laid out, but I saw God\u00a0<\/em>in them and they saw God\u00a0<\/em>in me, and we reproduced God in one another.<\/span><\/p>\n

Congregation:\u00a0<\/strong>Stirs.<\/span><\/p>\n

Jones:\u00a0<\/strong>(Calms) Think on it child, think on it. These blessings of this marvelous apostolic administration are too stout\u00a0<\/em>to be denied, to marvelously demonstrable in our midst to universalize and personalize to be inconsiderate (Voice drops, then climbs) of these marvelous blessings. (Pause) Let\u2019s recognize them, let’s think on them. Every day somebody says something, like the youngster in the college dormitory. I was on the road, a car was coming our way, I looked at your picture, your picture turned and you said peace<\/em>, and then when I come in the door, she said by her testimony, she said, you told me what happened to me \u2013 my God \u2013 and I heard no one praising\u00a0<\/em>their Redeemer When we heard this marvelous thing that saves children\u2019s\u00a0<\/em>lives, that stops buses when the wheels go off, because I said, wait<\/em>. There’s trouble on the road, there\u2019ll be a delay, and I sent out the word because\u2013<\/span><\/p>\n

Jones:\u00a0<\/strong>\u2013Christ is in me\u00a0<\/em>as he is in you<\/em>. (Conversational, then climbs) And it\u2019s as much personfiable as you wish\u00a0<\/em>it to be. You can have thirty percent God, sixty percent God, or hundredfold, if you want to be. You can be one hundred percent yielded to God Almighty. You can be crucified with Christ, nevertheless you will live, yet not you, but Christ that liveth in you.<\/span><\/p>\n

Congregation:\u00a0<\/strong>Response.<\/span><\/p>\n

Jones:\u00a0<\/strong>That makes you one hundred percent God Almighty<\/em>.<\/span><\/p>\n

Jones:\u00a0<\/strong>(Voice calms, then climbs throughout) That’s the marvelous message of the Unitarian concept of the Godhead, that God is one and that he is the oneness and that the fullness of the godhead bodily dwelleth in us<\/em>, that the same Jesus\u00a0<\/em>is in us. Paul wanted us to get that message in Second Corinthians, the tenth verse, in the second chapter where he said I\u2013 what you forgive, I <\/em>forgive. I forgive it also<\/em>. Whatsoever you bind, I<\/em>bind. I do\u00a0<\/em>it in the name? No<\/em>. He said, I do\u00a0<\/em>it in the person\u00a0<\/em>of Christ. I have reincarnated the very personality. I\u2019m in the first person. I\u2019m speaking in the I Am consciousness. I\u2019m speaking with the Word in me<\/em>.<\/span><\/p>\n

Congregation:\u00a0<\/strong>Stirs.<\/span><\/p>\n

Jones:\u00a0<\/strong>And you can speak as a servant, or you can be as a friend, Jesus said. You can be a teacher and have a teacher’s reward, you can see God manifest through your brother and sister in varying degrees of consciousness, but what you see is what you get.<\/span><\/p>\n

Congregation:\u00a0<\/strong>Scattered applause.<\/span><\/p>\n

Jones:\u00a0<\/strong>If you see me\u2013 if you see me as just an ordinary friend, I\u2019ll be the best\u00a0<\/em>friend in the world. Someone through the Valley dropped in dogs yesterday, I took them all in. I\u2019m a friend of every dog, a friend\u00a0<\/em>of every human, I\u2019ve adopted eight children. Whatever you bring me, I will be a friend to you. But a friend\u00a0<\/em>cannot raise the dead. I\u2019ll be a friend<\/em>, but a friend\u00a0<\/em>cannot cause the cancers that came out, like Sister Andrews right out of her throat here on the altar not so long ago.<\/span><\/p>\n

Congregation:\u00a0<\/strong>Responds.<\/span><\/p>\n

Jones:\u00a0<\/strong>(calls out) A friend cannot bring that out. A friend might want\u00a0<\/em>to, but a friend can’t<\/em>. But when you see all of God in embodiment. (Voice drops) You see, this apostolic ministry that is req\u2013 uh, absolutely requisite for the perfection of the saints. Apostles, pastors, teachers, evangelists, which are necessary for the perfecting\u00a0<\/em>of the saints. You can’t be perfected through the reading\u00a0<\/em>of the Word, you cannot be perfected by anything, but by the hearing\u00a0<\/em>of the Word. Faith cometh by hearing\u00a0<\/em>and hearing by the Word of God, and the Word is sharper than a two<\/em>-edged sword, and what does it do? It discerns the thoughts, and knows the intents of the heart. And in every meeting for twenty-some years, I have been discerning the thoughts of the mind and knowing the intents of the heart, because the Word is now made flesh and dwells amongst us, Christ in us, the hope of glory.<\/span><\/p>\n

Jones:\u00a0<\/strong>I\u2019m letting God\u00a0<\/em>have his way, and the more you see God in me, and in one another, the more you’re going to reproduce God in yourself.<\/span><\/p>\n

Jones:\u00a0<\/strong>I <\/em>don\u2019t mind what\u00a0<\/em>you call me. You can call me that old hillbilly, if you want to. But I\u2019ll just be a hillbilly to you. Be a friendly\u00a0<\/em>hillbilly. Be a kind\u00a0<\/em>hillbilly, \u2018cause I was born in the hills. Proud of it. I found nothing in the\u2013 in the so-called sedated valleys and sophisticated valleys that make me ever sorry that I was born in the hills. (Claps hands once) I\u2019m glad for the shanty background. I learned a lot of things uh\u2013 I met God, I\u2019ll tell you, I had to meet\u00a0<\/em>God. Some of you have met God more quickly, if you hadn\u2019t had so much ease. When I had to go to the bathroom, I had to walk half mile, back then you\u2019d feel the winds in many places. You\u2019d feel the chill of the night air<\/em>, and you better find God someplace\u00a0<\/em>or you wouldn’t live<\/em>.<\/span><\/p>\n

Congregation:\u00a0<\/strong>Stirs.<\/span><\/p>\n

Jones:\u00a0<\/strong>So I learned to find God in those places. When you had to go over the hill a mile to carry your water, (voice rises) you had a lot of time to think about God<\/em>.<\/span><\/p>\n

Congregation:\u00a0<\/strong>Calls.<\/span><\/p>\n

Jones:\u00a0<\/strong>You had a lot of time to consider\u00a0<\/em>all the power\u00a0<\/em>(voice moderates) that\u2019s in the mind of the Christ. We got so much today, we got to where we’re lazy<\/em>, push a button for this, and we\u2019re all\u2013 we\u2019re programmed\u00a0<\/em>from supper into the lounge\u2013 into the lounge to TV. That’s why I never would\u2019ve bought one. I never would buy a TV, \u2018cause it programizes\u00a0<\/em>you. You just build into a mild functioning, sed\u2013 sedentary life where you don’t use your muscles, and your muscles atrophy, and you don’t use your mind\u00a0<\/em>even. They brainwash you even from the center station. I want this mind\u00a0<\/em>to be in me.<\/span><\/p>\n

Congregation:\u00a0<\/strong>Calls.<\/span><\/p>\n

Jones:\u00a0<\/strong>(Voice builds) Sunday morning, that women in her desperation, I walked back and I said, Jim Jones is here. And I said, arise<\/em>. I said arise\u00a0<\/em>and you saw her arise<\/em>, because in my heart, I haven\u2019t filled\u00a0<\/em>it with a lot of foolishness\u00a0<\/em>of the world<\/em>. I had let this mind be in me, which was also in Christ Jesus who being in the form of God, considered it not robbery to be equal with God Almighty.<\/span><\/p>\n

Congregation:\u00a0<\/strong>Calls.<\/span><\/p>\n

Jones:\u00a0<\/strong>(Voice drops) And you saw in that crowd of thousands, you saw her come up\u00a0<\/em>and dance for twenty minutes. Women don’t dance that way, when their heart afflicted from childbirth. Dance and jump and dance and jump. Your ordinary doctors would say, don’t\u00a0<\/em>let her do that. She had no pulse, no respiration, (Conversational) but she kept dancing because she\u2019d met Christ.<\/span><\/p>\n

Congregation:\u00a0<\/strong>Applause.<\/span><\/p>\n

Jones:\u00a0<\/strong>(Ministerial fervor) Once\u00a0<\/em>you have seen the embodiment of the oneness of God, once you know that Jesus is God and that he is reincarnatable. He said these\u00a0<\/em>things shall you do and greater<\/em>. That means what he was, you can be\u00a0<\/em>and greater<\/em>. Not just the same (claps hands once), not to just go over around the throne and beg to some big daddy in the sky, but he said these things shall you do and (cries out) greater.<\/span><\/p>\n

Congregation:\u00a0<\/strong>Calls.<\/span><\/p>\n

Jones:\u00a0<\/strong>Once you have known the embodiment and incarnation of the Divine Word<\/em>, don’t you be satisfied for anything else, but the Word made flesh dwelling amongst you.<\/span><\/p>\n

Congregation:\u00a0<\/strong>Responds.<\/span><\/p>\n

Jones:\u00a0<\/strong>That’s\u00a0<\/em>the glory of oneness, not that Jesus is God up in the throne, but that Jesus has become God and God dwelleth in us, m\u2013 and he is mighty\u00a0<\/em>to save<\/em>.<\/span><\/p>\n

Congregation:\u00a0<\/strong>Responds.<\/span><\/p>\n

Jones:\u00a0<\/strong>(Calms, then builds) That’s the great mystery. It\u2019s been withheld from ages past, but now revealed to the children of men in these, the l\u2013 last days of time. That he is going to pour out his spirit on all\u00a0<\/em>flesh. His sons and daughters are going to prophesy<\/em>. I\u2019m going to bring many sons unto glory, saith God. The captain\u00a0<\/em>of our salvation was made perfect<\/em>, through the things he suffered. He was human\u00a0<\/em>of humans<\/em>, born in a manger, born when they said Abraham is our father, but what is\u2013 who your father? Yes, he was born without a place to lay his head. The foxes have dens and the birds have nests, but he had no<\/em>place to rest his head. Yet he said, I considered it not robbery to be equal with God Almighty.<\/span><\/p>\n

Congregation:\u00a0<\/strong>Calls.<\/span><\/p>\n

Jones:\u00a0<\/strong>Some said he come down here already made. He said he learned obedience<\/em>. That means he had to grow<\/em>. He was made\u00a0<\/em>perfect, that means he wasn’t\u00a0<\/em>perfect. He had to be made\u00a0<\/em>conformable to the image\u2013 to the death of the cross. (Full throat) Jesus was flesh of your flesh and bone of your bone. That’s what makes God so marvelous. We have seen him in a lowly working carpenter. We have seen him in the work of the (unintelligible word), we have seen Jesus made flesh. Our God is made flesh and dwells amongst us.<\/span><\/p>\n

Congregation:\u00a0<\/strong>Calls.<\/span><\/p>\n

Jones:\u00a0<\/strong>(Voice rises) That’s what makes it mighty and heavenly, that’s what makes it salvation to be praised. Those people out there in Trinitarinism, they see God out there as three personalities. (Low voice) Hard enough to serve one, much less three.<\/span><\/p>\n

Congregation:\u00a0<\/strong>Stirs.<\/span><\/p>\n

Jones:\u00a0<\/strong>(Calms) But to recognize the oneness\u00a0<\/em>of God, to see him made flesh<\/em>, not in a rich king but in a poor Nazarene. Someone that looked like, someone weather beaten evidently, because he was out of the weather. He didn\u2019t look like any of the pictures you see today. He suffered, made perfect through suffering. (Voice rises) But the thing I\u2019m so glad I heard him say, the captain of our salvation is bringing many sons\u00a0<\/em>unto glory. I’m glad I heard him say, that he is the firstborn of (calls out) many brethren.<\/span><\/p>\n

Congregation:\u00a0<\/strong>Calls<\/span><\/p>\n

Jones:\u00a0<\/strong>(In full throat) That there are many\u00a0<\/em>going to be like him<\/em>, a multitude is going to come forth in the land just like Jesus. They’re going to beat their swords into plowshares, and study war no more. (Pause) I’m so glad that my God is not out there for me to fly\u00a0<\/em>to. He\u2019s not out in the heavens for me to ascend to. He\u2019s not in the deep for me to descend to, but the righteous that preaches the faith saith, he is in thine heart and in thine mouth, that God is in me. (voice overwhelms mike) God.<\/span><\/p>\n

Congregation:\u00a0<\/strong>Stirs.<\/span><\/p>\n

Jones:\u00a0<\/strong>(Moderate but intense, then rises throughout) I’m glad I found my God and he is principle<\/em>. He’s love,\u00a0<\/em>and love is exemplified in Acts of the Apostles in pure sharing. The pure socialism that would solve all problems of today, would stop communism, stop fascism. God is a principle<\/em>. And his principle is reincarnatable,\u00a0<\/em>and that principle has transmitted this valley, when they used to just beat on people because they were Okies or black or because they were Indians. Now, acres\u00a0<\/em>have been taken over, 40\u00a0<\/em>acres of children’s home, three\u00a0<\/em>senior citizen homes, (Cries out) the knowledge of God is covering the earth as the waters cover the sea.<\/span><\/p>\n

Congregation:\u00a0<\/strong>Calls.<\/span><\/p>\n

Jones:\u00a0<\/strong>(Full throat) For God is love\u00a0<\/em>and love is socialism\u00a0<\/em>and it\u2019s just and powerful and mighty to see. It\u2019s good to know your God.<\/span><\/p>\n

Congregation:\u00a0<\/strong>Stirs.<\/span><\/p>\n

Jones:\u00a0<\/strong>To know him alike, to know he\u2019s not a God that\u2019s (unintelligible word, could be \u201capart\u201d), but he\u2019s a God that is at hand, hallelujah.<\/span><\/p>\n

Congregation:\u00a0<\/strong>Calls.<\/span><\/p>\n

Jones:\u00a0<\/strong>I don’t know what I’d do if I worshipped that God that some people have. I have to have my God within me<\/em>. If I didn’t see the fruit of his handiwork, if I didn\u2019t see the dead raised, I couldn’t live this day, if I didn’t see the hungry fed and the poor have the gospel preached to them. (Voice moderates) If I didn’t see the heal sick\u2013 the healing of the sick and the resurrection and restorations, why, I could not live. People stand out there gloomy-eyed, druggie-eyed, droopy-eyed, saying by and by, (voice climbs) by and by. I’m tired of by and by. Today is the day of salvation. Jesus has come.<\/span><\/p>\n

Congregation:\u00a0<\/strong>Cheers.<\/span><\/p>\n

Jones:\u00a0<\/strong>I’m glad in that Arkansas background and the Indian shanty that I, who took that mixture of the poorest\u00a0<\/em>among men<\/em>, being that what they said, a poor southern Arkie and a poor s\u2013 Indian, I, being amongst the poorest\u00a0<\/em>of men, along with Jesus, have decided\u00a0<\/em>that heaven can be established\u00a0<\/em>in the (Voice drops) lives and the affairs of men. And as he said, being the poorest\u00a0<\/em>among men, I have made many rich<\/em>.<\/span><\/p>\n

Congregation:\u00a0<\/strong>Responds.<\/span><\/p>\n

Jones:\u00a0<\/strong>(Conversational, then rises) That’s the key, let himself be poured\u00a0<\/em>out, being crucified<\/em>, being self-denied<\/em>, and then God takes up tabernacle. That’s the principle. That’s why I love Jesus. My God, he is the hope. He is the way, he is the truth, he is the life, he is the door, and if you open up the door, you give into the great powers of the universe.<\/span><\/p>\n

Jones:\u00a0<\/strong>(Calm, then rises) People want somebody to do something for\u00a0<\/em>them. Jesus\u00a0<\/em>never did something for people. He showed you how to do it for yourself<\/em>. He said, what\u2019s\u00a0<\/em>within you. Thy faith\u00a0<\/em>has made you whole. He didn’t direct it to him<\/em>, he said it\u2019s in\u00a0<\/em>you<\/em>. (glossolalia) That’s the glory of Jesus. That’s why I’m glad, I’d like to have on this place, Jesus is God, and God is socialism. I\u2019d like to have it all over<\/em>. It’s so wonderful. They say, do you love the name of Jesus. My God, do I love it? I loved it so much that I died and let him live in this body.<\/span><\/p>\n

Jones:\u00a0<\/strong>No one loves the name of Jesus more than we love the name of Jesus in this assembly. (chuckles)<\/span><\/p>\n

Jones:\u00a0<\/strong>It was Christ\u00a0<\/em>in me and not another, when 17 years ago Dr. (unintelligible name) said I must die of cancer and prepared my wife [Marceline Jones] \u2013 surgical nursing supervisor \u2013 for death<\/em>. (Pause) It was Christ\u00a0<\/em>in me and not another. I said there within me<\/em>, the kingdom. The kingdom of heaven is within you, and if I and Sister [Eva] Pugh, can attest, our treasurer, I said I\u2019m coming out<\/em>\u2013 \u2018cause Christ didn’t come to give me death<\/em>, he came to give me life<\/em>.<\/span><\/p>\n

Congregation:\u00a0<\/strong>Calls.<\/span><\/p>\n

Jones:\u00a0<\/strong>(Voice climbs) And if I\u2019d lost, I couldna been any worse off. I was skin and bones, I couldn\u2019t keep anything on my stomach. They had tubes down my nose. There wasn\u2019t anything for me to lose<\/em>, I had everything to gain. I stood on my feet\u00a0<\/em>and I said<\/em>, this is the body<\/em>, this is the temple\u00a0<\/em>of the Holy Ghost.<\/span><\/p>\n

Congregation:\u00a0<\/strong>Stirs.<\/span><\/p>\n

Jones:\u00a0<\/strong>(Full throat) And for 17 years, I have been showing you that you also are the temple of the Holy Ghost.<\/span><\/p>\n

Congregation:\u00a0<\/strong>Calls.<\/span><\/p>\n

Jones:\u00a0<\/strong>(Moderates, then builds throughout) Uh, they want to keep you by false promises that Jesus is some place in the sky. While the lying preachers are telling you that, they\u2019re swipp\u2013 they\u2019re swipping around in their Cadillacs and Continentals, living high on the hog, telling you to get ready to meet\u00a0<\/em>him. They\u00a0<\/em>don’t look like they’re\u00a0<\/em>getting ready to meet him. They don\u2019t look like they\u2019re getting ready to go anywhere\u00a0<\/em>but to drive down the road on those nice wheels. They look like they\u2019re gonna stay a long time\u00a0<\/em>in their nice homes. But I come in used choir robes, I come in old work clothes under here. I got one\u00a0<\/em>pair of pants, but that pair of pants is all I need, because God is my armament. God is my shield, God is my salvation, God is my (unintelligible word, could be \u201cclothing\u201d), God is my covering, God is my deliverance.<\/span><\/p>\n

Congregation:\u00a0<\/strong>Cheers!<\/span><\/p>\n

Jones:\u00a0<\/strong>(Moderate, but intense) I tell you what do I need with Cadillacs, what do I need with treasure houses of this earth, \u2018cause I’ve got a treasure that is hid, the world does not give and the world cannot take away. So glad to know God Almighty, so glad to recognize God Almighty, so glad that this body is God\u2019s and not another. (Conversational) It is not Jim Jones, but Christ\u00a0<\/em>that liveth in me. Nevertheless I\u2019ve lived like I never have\u00a0<\/em>lived before. Yet the Christ that doeth the work. It’s beautiful to recognize Christ in one another, and I’m doing that in you. I am seeing the Christ\u00a0<\/em>in you. You are a chosen\u00a0<\/em>people. Jews are not one that are one outwardly, but ones that are ones inwardly. They\u2019re ones that are bap\u2013 that with circumcision, and concision of the spirit. And I see you as the chosen\u00a0<\/em>of Israel, and the chosen\u00a0<\/em>of Israel should not have to beg and sneak uh, help in habitations and housing. It should be the church of God, the Acts of the apostles, the ecclesia of the pure socialism of Christ, due to establish it on earth, and that we\u2019re going to do. We\u2019re causing these deserts to blossom as rose, we\u2019ve caused 200 children in South America to eat that were starving, we reached to India, there were thousands that were starving, and we\u2019re going to keep on, we have only just begun\u00a0<\/em>that’s what we shall do,\u00a0<\/em>because Christ\u00a0<\/em>is doing the work. (Pause) My God Almighty, what you talking about? What you want to go back to those old ideas of worshipping God, and they don’t even know where they at. They betray themselves, as I said, if you saw a preacher saying Jesus is coming soon. They tell you, he’s coming soon and if he was wrapped\u2013 wrapped up in my old robe here that got a hole in it, and they\u2019ve knitted it with different color thread, then you might believe him, say the man looks like he\u2019s getting ready. Got no clothes, \u2018cause you can’t fly away to heaven in clothes. You\u2019re gone be translated in a moment in a twinkling of an eye that’s gonna\u2013 that\u2019s gonna zip the clothes right off your back, honey. If you gonna get that quick a translation, you can’t take your mink furs and stoles and your heavy jewelry along with you, and you sure\u00a0<\/em>not going to get that translated uh, Cadillac.<\/span><\/p>\n

Jones:\u00a0<\/strong>(Voice rises throughout) They been robbing\u00a0<\/em>you, child. Telling you that God [is] someplace else other where he is. God is within, and don’t let anybody take that away from you. Don’t let anyone rob you of the fact that God is embodied, that God is in the world, he never was outside of the world, that the hundred percent hundredfold ministry, uh, the one I Am personal degree of consciousness speaking in the person of Christ as Paul did, that’s always\u00a0<\/em>been here. He said, (deliberate) lo, I am with you always. (Full throat) I will never leave you nor forsake you, not even to the end of the world. God has always had a body. God always will have a body. God never was without one, and he never will be (Voice drops) without one. Don’t you go back to anything else. Oh, they go around in muck and mire, and can’t pay anything but old church building they use one hour a day. This building for children to swim in, for women to get their arms straightened out and men to get their bones straightened that\u2019ve been paralyzed. Teach here for children to learn their lessons during the week. Take them up\u2013 It\u2019s a practical\u00a0<\/em>building, and because we built it, and I helped build it with my own hands. Put my own hands on these nails and the insulation and the floor and everything else<\/em>. We built it as simply as we could, like a tabernacle, so it could be used. It’s so marvelous to use. And because of it now, we have eleven buses that\u2019s going to take us\u2013 we’re going to take the Christ of God\u2019s message up to Seattle. They don\u2019t like\u00a0<\/em>for us to take it, they\u2019ve threatened us all (unintelligible word) before we come, but you know we\u2019re gonna go, no matter whether they\u2019re threaten us or not, we\u2019re going to go<\/em>. We’ll be singing and praising God, for where Jesus is, \u2018tis heaven there. We’ll take those 11 buses and travel on those highways. We\u2019re all ready to going to Los Angeles to pick up members of our Los Angeles church, to carry them up there. We\u2019re going to cause the kingdoms\u00a0<\/em>of this world. We’re going to do it or we’re going to fall out trying (Cries out) cause the kingdoms of this world to become the kingdom of our God and His Christ. (Intense) We’re tired of you people telling us heaven is someplace out there in the sky. The sky is everywhere and it\u2019s nowhere. You have to travel 186,000 miles a second to get out there to the closest star, and you can do that in three million light years. (Pause) That’s too long, honey, I want to\u2013 you talking about getting raptured, you say, well, it\u2019s in a moment of a twinkling of an eye. I don’t care how many twinkles<\/em>, it still<\/em>takes you 300 mile\u2013 million light years of twinkles there.<\/span><\/p>\n

Jones:\u00a0<\/strong>(Calms, then builds throughout) They always got you twinkling\u00a0<\/em>too, looking up, looking up. I said, look within, I looked within and I call some of you to look within. You\u2019re so beautiful. Last time I was here holding a meeting, and the man back there behind that pool was crippled, do you remember? And he straightened his arm, and his leg. At the same moment, I sent some brothers and sisters up there, stirred up the gifts within them, and I told him who would\u00a0<\/em>be in Seattle, and I said, call out their name. He said, well, we don’t know how to do that. I said call \u2018em up. They’ve got growths, get rid of them. They\u2019ve got crippling conditions, get rid of them. And while I was sitting here ministering, my people [were] in Seattle causing the cripples to walk and cancers to pass. Hey, God Almighty.<\/span><\/p>\n

Jones:\u00a0<\/strong>(Calms, then slowly builds) See, the gifts and callings can be stirred up\u00a0<\/em>within the people. And quickening. After I quicken them of my own uh, development of the marvelous Ch\u2013 Christ spirit and transmit\u00a0<\/em>them. Think what’s gonna happen when we get these things stirred up, when I get all of you out in every community with the gifts of God and the marvelous supernatural power of God. Then the Acts of God, the apostles, the socialistic ministry. Said that while preachers are trying to get people to build their cars and homes and air conditioner, or their\u2013 their bedrooms. (Voice drops) Oh, the stuff I\u2019ve seen. The shower like last week for the dear lady who\u2019s been an ex-preacher\u2019s wife, two thousand dollars plus four or five thousand dollars in gifts. What\u2019s going to happen when you get this stirred up in you. And we get this thing re-created, what I\u2019m gone do. You don’t know what I’m up to, but I know what I’m up to. (Voice climbs) I heard what he said, bring (unintelligible under mike) under glory. We’re going to disburse\u00a0<\/em>this Christ and redistribute\u00a0<\/em>this Christ. And they\u2019re going to maybe think they\u2019re gonna get Jim Jones, and then Jim Jones will pop up there, and they\u2019ll knock him off there, and he\u2019ll be over there, God\u2019ll be here<\/em>, God\u2019ll be there<\/em>, and God\u2019ll be everywhere. (Voice moderates, then builds) Don’t you know what I’ve got working. You haven\u2019t\u2013 You don\u2019t think I\u2019m sitting up here to receive any glory<\/em>. I\u2019m dead<\/em>. I sit here because I taught school day and night, I\u2019ve had to work day and night and not sleep. I have no throne, this is just a barber\u2019s chair. I\u2019m sitting, because you’re sitting. If you can sit, I can sit. If I can work all night and help build buildings, and carry out all the debris and clean up the showers and clean up the urinals, I\u2019ve got a right to sit just like you<\/em>, because (unintelligible word)\u2013<\/span><\/p>\n

Jones:\u00a0<\/strong>But when my anniversary comes, you\u00a0<\/em>don’t give me any anniversary. When my birthday comes, you\u00a0<\/em>don’t give me any birthday. Because I\u2019m no more important than your\u00a0<\/em>dog hide. We\u2019re all one\u00a0<\/em>in God. There\u2019s nobody more important than another\u00a0<\/em>in God Almighty.<\/span><\/p>\n

Jones:\u00a0<\/strong>Ah, when we get a hold of this, so try to live\u00a0<\/em>what I am preaching, and be\u00a0<\/em>what I am demonstrating, and find\u00a0<\/em>that which I am transmitting. Come close\u00a0<\/em>to this, which I have found in God, and live\u00a0<\/em>it and look\u00a0<\/em>at it and breathe\u00a0<\/em>it, and if you look<\/em>, you will live<\/em>. And then you will reproduce\u00a0<\/em>this spirit, and you will go out in the highways and hedges, and compel\u00a0<\/em>them to come in. And I\u2019ll tell you, we\u2019ll spurn\u2013 we\u2019ll turn this world upside down<\/em>, we\u2019ll stir up (unintelligible word) like it\u2019s never been stirred up. (Pause) (Voice calms) That’s my desire. I did not come this far by faith<\/em>, to just end this race as being one manifested son. I am in a school\u00a0<\/em>of prophets. This thing is, as I said, as reincarnatable as the breath you breathe. It\u2019s just as reincarnatable as the smile of a child, and we want to learn God’s ways. Live\u00a0<\/em>him and personify him. Say, why haven\u2019t you sent people out with the gifts before now. You’ve got to have the fruits\u00a0<\/em>of the spirit. You\u2019ve got to have so much love. You say, Pastor Jim, where did you get\u00a0<\/em>this marvelous gift? Where did I get this love\u00a0<\/em>from? If you get\u00a0<\/em>this love, God is love<\/em>. The more of love\u00a0<\/em>you get, then you\u2019ll be able to go out on the road. When you get enough love like you’ve seen me to put my body, as I did one time in front of someone that wanted to stab another, to a jealous lover who\u2019d come for a woman before she\u2019d been converted. She\u2019d had a lover, and she came in this church and was converted, and he came for her because she got converted<\/em>. And he came back there, and what did I do? I told you all to stand, and I put my body in front of him and (defiantly) I dared him to put anything in my\u00a0<\/em>chest.<\/span><\/p>\n

Jones:\u00a0<\/strong>(Voice builds) He put that gun and he put that knife back in his pocket, because he was afraid<\/em>. When you get the Spirit of the comforter. The comforter means the spirit of bravery. In the Hebrew it means the com-forter, the with-purpose, com-fort\u00e9, with bravery. It’s not comfort like the quilt. Some of you think the Holy Ghost is a quilt to put you to sleep<\/em>, it\u2019s com-fort\u00e9, with strength, with power, with (unintelligible word). The Holy Ghost is the essence of truth, and it\u2019s a \u201che,\u201d for he, the Spirit of Truth has come, he\u00a0<\/em>will lead you and guide you into all truth. (Calms) It’s not an \u201cit,\u201d but it\u2019s a \u201che.\u201d (Pause) When you get this\u2013 that\u2019s what I’m waiting on. I\u2019m waiting on you to develop the Christ in you. Without holiness, no man shall see the Lord. Follow holiness with all men. What\u2019d it say? Without which, no man shall see the Lord. Where do you have to follow holiness? With all men. You gotta find that holiness within and within others. Then you see\u00a0<\/em>God. This is the day when the promises of the ages are being fulfilled. You are they upon whom the ends of the world has come. You’re the cornerstone builders. Yes, my children. Recognize the day you’re living in. This is the day when blessed are the pure in heart for they (calls out) shall not only know God, not only feel God, but they shall see\u00a0<\/em>God.<\/span><\/p>\n

Jones:\u00a0<\/strong>(Calms) He said when we see him, that’s the marvelous, (breathless) marvelous\u00a0<\/em>beauty of the reincarnatable principle of Jesus Christ. When you see him<\/em>, (deliberate) you shall be like him. Now remember when Jesus appeared on the road to Martha and Mary. Get that truth, it may be overstated and trite to some, but it can never be lost, the meaning, the essence of it. When they were walking\u00a0<\/em>by the way, so deeply depressed over the loss of Jesus of Nazareth, the ones that had supped with him, dined with him, fed him, worked with him, did not know him, because someone had reincarnated that same spirit, but the bodily appearance was different. You understand the mystery?<\/span><\/p>\n

Jones:\u00a0<\/strong>One walked by this wayside, but it didn’t look like the same Jesus. (Cries out) But he was the same Jesus. (Moderates) But they could\u2013 (Tape Edit) God. They called it everything, but it\u2019s the same\u00a0<\/em>Jesus, it may be one time in a black person, it may be another time in a man, it may be in a woman<\/em>, \u2018cause it\u2019s neither male nor female, neither bond nor free, Greek nor Jew. God can move wherever he chooses, whenever\u00a0<\/em>he chooses, withsoever\u00a0<\/em>whom he chooses. (Calms) That’s the mystery of God, Christ in you, the hope of glory. Don’t\u00a0<\/em>be like Mary and Martha and miss\u00a0<\/em>him, because you\u2019ve got a visual image of somebody with a long, white robe and long (stumbles over words) of the hair, or golden tresses. Don’t\u00a0<\/em>miss him. Some people are hot. That\u2019s again a matter of thinking, my child, as you think in your heart. It’s very warm up here, this is the warmest of all position, but in me is Christ and Christ is always the same. (Cries out) All may change but Jesus never. (Pause) (Calm) But for some, they might bring the flow of the air, just a moment, circulate the air, \u2018cause they\u2019re worrying about heat<\/em>, some of them, and they\u2019re feeling the pressure of it. (Pause) Not there, (unintelligible, stumble over words) bring it up through the fan. \u2018Cause when I see people fan, then it disturbs uh, me for\u2013 concern\u00a0<\/em>for people, you see I have a concern\u00a0<\/em>for people. Now I wish you to get that. The same concern that caused me to adopt eight precious babies, it\u2019s joy really. No effort. The same concern that caused me to be here day in and day out and receive the\u2013 the strangers, the castaways, so to speak. For a privilege (unintelligible word) before God and the fathers to minister to the orphans and widows in their affliction, keep yourself unspotted for the world. Do you want to see Jesus? All right then, you can see him tonight<\/em>. Is there anybody hungered? Feed\u00a0<\/em>them. Is anybody naked? Clothe\u00a0<\/em>them. If there\u2019s anybody that’s a stranger, take\u00a0<\/em>them in, as we did the sister last night. Take them in<\/em>. Don’t ask them for money or price, \u2018cause the Christ of God doesn’t ask for money or price or reward. It doesn’t go out with purse or scrip on its journey. Doesn\u2019t need any scripture<\/em>, doesn\u2019t need any purse<\/em>, doesn\u2019t need anything on that day\u2019s journey, but the Holy Ghost within. He says, well, he’s come. Take no thought for what you shall say, but he\u2019ll bring all things to remembrance in that hour. When they deliver you to the counsels and to the tribunals, to the governors, to the\u2013 the magistrates, and even kill\u00a0<\/em>you thinking they do God a service. So it\u2019ll be the church that\u2019s gonna persecute you, \u2018cause they think God\u2019s doing\u2013 they\u2019re doing God a service. Don’t you worry about it. If God’s within you, they’ll make a way where there is no way. It’ll be like Paul that was preaching to the jailer, and all of a sudden the walls come tumbling down. We’ve seen too many things here. Let’s not forget. I said let’s not forget where we have been and what we have seen. When we were thrown out of the churches and we had to be out in this field two years ago over\u2013 just a little over. We were out in the winter all winter long, but not a drop of rain dropped on our bodies. The cars drove up, and as the cars drove up \u2013 you know, you were there \u2013 you drove in from the factories, Masonite, the rain would be falling in\u00a0torrents\u00a0<\/em>upon you, but when you came you where we were sitting there wasn’t a drop of rain (calls out) that fell on our heads.<\/span><\/p>\n

Jones:\u00a0<\/strong>(Full throat) We were out with the wind, but I tell you, if you will believe in the actual conscious presence of God, it\u2019s a source of all supply, it can and it will and it does satisfy every good desire. (Moderates) So why don\u2019t you recognize what God is, and quit this foolishness and look it up, look within. The righteousness which is the faith (unintelligible) who shall ascend into heaven and bring him down, and who shall descend in the deep and bring him up, but what say that the Word is nigh thee<\/em>, even in thy\u00a0<\/em>mouth and in thy heart. What is the Word? In the beginning was the Word and the Word was with God and the Word\u00a0was\u00a0<\/em>God, and the Word is made flesh. In a moment, you shall see the Word made flesh, and that’s what I want you to do. If I come for anything, it’s to make you realize that you are sons and daughters of God. There\u2019s no higher heaven\u00a0<\/em>than within you. There\u2019s nothing outside\u00a0<\/em>of you that can solve your problems. It’s when they took Jesus and were going to persecute him, he said for what good work\u00a0<\/em>do you stone me? You can’t receive me for my namesake<\/em>, receive me for my works sake. It\u2019s what I wonder about these churches, when the tavern keeper down here that loves us because of the good we do for human beings, he warns us about one of the churches<\/em>. (scoffs) One of the Trinitarian churches is going to bomb us. (laughs) What\u2019s that now, what kind of thing is this? Who warned us? The tavern keeper. He said I heard\u00a0<\/em>what those church people said, one of the old men, or those sisters over there, got drunk and coming in and said I don\u2019t like what they\u2019re gonna do to that church. (Pause) He said they take in the animals and adopt the children, they clothe the needy, said they’re good people, so who called us? A preacher<\/em>? No, the preacher\u2019s not gone call you, they\u2019re the ones trying to kill you. (Laughs) You don\u2019t need to worry about the church, it’s always\u00a0<\/em>going to lose its first love just about ten, twenty, fifty years, it\u2019ll lose\u00a0<\/em>its first love. It always does that. Institutions kill\u00a0<\/em>God. So I don’t believe in institutions, don\u2019t believe in robes, don\u2019t believe in badges of authority and position, don\u2019t believe in uh\u2013 uh, orders and stratums and denominations, \u2018cause you\u2019ll kill\u00a0<\/em>God. It robs\u00a0<\/em>God from his rightful place. He said, for what good works do you stone me? (Pause) He said, what have I done that you stone me? Anybody (unintelligible) Sacramento, some of you come here tonight, visiting us (unintelligible word) say, I wanted to hear God, you should know, if by anything else, everybody in the world in No\u2013 Northern California wants to kill\u00a0<\/em>me. (Pause) They that live godly in Christ Jesus shall\u00a0<\/em>suffer persecution.<\/span><\/p>\n

Jones:\u00a0<\/strong>Jesus, the captain of our salvation, was called not only a devil, child, but he was called the prince\u00a0<\/em>of devils, Beelzebub. He was called the prince\u00a0<\/em>of all\u00a0<\/em>devils. Now we could say to them, how are you so sick, will a devil cast out a devil. Does a devil heal the sick, will a devil cast out the demon oppressions of diseases. No, he said (unintelligible) house divided against itself, for as James said, all good things comes down from the Father of lights, in whom there\u2019s no variableness of shadow of turning. If it’s good, it’s God. That’s the universal mind. I wish you\u2019d get this. You\u2019re worry, you’ve been worried by these preachers that\u2019re afraid they’re going to lose a dollar. They want those dollars coming in to pay that Cadillac. They got to pay that bill. They’re afraid to lose one dollar. (short laugh) So they tell you, don\u2019t go over there. Be careful. Be careful. Don’t go there. Watch out. What they really\u00a0<\/em>want you to do is stay in prison. Stay in prison.<\/span><\/p>\n

Jones:\u00a0<\/strong>And I just want you to get free. Because churchanity is a death, and when you are s\u2013 free to stand fast in the liberty wherewith Christ has made\u00a0<\/em>you free, and be not again entangled with the yoke of bondage. That’s my\u00a0<\/em>desire for you, to let you have what I have and more. I hope you can see a picture of what I’ve taken, and reproduce a greater\u00a0<\/em>one in yourself. \u2018Cause the world needs Jesus, and the only place they’re going to find\u00a0<\/em>Jesus, child, is in you. You are living epistles, the only one they’re gonna read. So read me well. Don’t jump the gun. Don’t go out and think that you’re going to get this realm overnight. I’ve come through lynch mobs, I’ve been shot at and shot down before your eyes, and you saw me picked up. You put the\u2013 in fingers in my\u2013 the holes in my chest, and I brought this about the healing, because I recognized none of them in this tabernacle but Christ. Said I cannot die. My people need to see the Christ in me, to bring forth the Christ in them. I cannot die. My people not ready, so I said I Am. Hmm. That’s the key.<\/span><\/p>\n

Jones:\u00a0<\/strong>(cries out) I said I am not ready<\/em>, (calms) and all that blood that was all over me, I got up, as you well saw, and that night healed a man by just sending the word, there was an (stumbles over words) epileptic seizure \u2013 he\u2019s right over there in the choir someplace \u2013 I just reached out and said arise. Preached\u00a0<\/em>all night. So take a good picture, take a good picture, watch me closely, learn my mannerisms, learn the patterns of devotion, my spiritual paralife, and my social administration, just a sense of concept of dispensational uh, principles that I uh, embody, the principles that I demonstrate every day. Learn\u00a0<\/em>all these principles closely, \u2018cause I’m a living Acts of the Apostle. I’m one of those acts \u2013 maybe a small\u00a0<\/em>act \u2013 but I’ma\u2013 gonna make an act that’s going to help the work for Jesus.<\/span><\/p>\n

Jones:\u00a0<\/strong>You see, the Acts of the Apostles still going on. He said all the things that Jesus had both begun to say and do, if they had been written in a book<\/em>, the world would not be able to contain the book<\/em>.<\/span><\/p>\n

Jones:\u00a0<\/strong>So the Acts of the Apostles are being written here tonight, as it was last Wednesday when the woman was given up to die with cystic fibrosis, and you heard her testify Sunday, all gone, been in pain, had to take, what was it, codeine every three hours, and it did not abate her pain. I said, come up, touch this\u00a0<\/em>back, \u2018cause this back is li\u2013 yielded to God<\/em>. I put my back against hers, told her things by revelation to quicken the Christ in her and stir up the faith that was within her, and when I left, the pain was in my back, and she was free\u00a0<\/em>of it. She was shouting and dancing and praising God.<\/span><\/p>\n

Jones:\u00a0<\/strong>I know how to get rid\u00a0<\/em>of it. She didn\u2019t have the moment of understanding to get rid of it, and the doctors had given up her to die. So let us not forget so great a salvation. We have seen, we have heard<\/em>, we have walked<\/em>, we have suff\u2013 we have seen our God. So don’t forget that promise, that Christ is within you. It’s only hope. How can you hear without a preacher, how can you preach lest he be sent. We have the Bible written by King James translated, the books of Barnabas taken out by his dispensation, and after all, King James was an alcoholic. He wasn’t God. He was the king of England. Some of you think he was\u2013 uh, uh, your old Pentecostal say at the time, bless God the King James version was good enough for Paul, it’s good enough for me. Paul never saw\u00a0<\/em>King James, honey.<\/span><\/p>\n

Jones:\u00a0<\/strong>He never took a look at King James. King James wasn’t around when Paul was around. He was the king of England who persecuted the American colonists, who persecuted the Indians, and sent the Good Ship Jesus to Africa to bring back the blacks in chains<\/em>.<\/span><\/p>\n

Jones:\u00a0<\/strong>And if you don’t have the Holy\u00a0<\/em>Ghost, the Spirit\u00a0<\/em>of Truth, you can not know even who Jesus is, the scripture tells you. Because there\u2013 the words of the devil\u00a0<\/em>are in the Bible. The Tempter\u2019s there, the words that are translated errors\u00a0<\/em>there. If you go just for the letter\u2013 that’s why Corinthians warns you, the letter will kill\u00a0<\/em>you, meaning the letter to Romans, to letter to Corinth\u2013 Corinth, the le\u2013 the Bible, in other words, just translated English, the Bible kills, but the spirit. God is love. What is the spirit then? God is love, so the Bible kills, but love makes alive. That’s the only thing that\u2019ll make\u00a0<\/em>alive. The Bible will kill\u00a0<\/em>you, if you don’t have God within and don’t have the fivefold ministry. It didn\u2019t say Bibles\u00a0<\/em>would bring you to perfection, but apostles, pastors, teachers, evangelists, they\u00a0<\/em>are necessary for the perfecting of the saints, the work of the ministry, the edifying of the body of Christ. You have to have those manifold gifts and the manifold fruits\u00a0<\/em>of the spirit. How can we hear without a preacher, how can he preach lest he be sent, faith cometh by hearing and hearing \u2013 not\u00a0<\/em>reading \u2013 by the Word of God, because even as you look at the booklet [The Letter Killeth<\/a><\/em>]<\/span>, King James, uh, according to Matthew, doesn\u2019t give the same ancestry as Jesus back to David, as Luke does in the third chapter. It’s confusion<\/em>.<\/span><\/p>\n

Jones:\u00a0<\/strong>One place Jesus\u2019 grandfather is Heli, the other place it\u2019s Jacob<\/em>. In one place his great grandfather is Matthan, and the other place it\u2019s M-A-T-T-H-A-T. There’s a misspelled letter, one letter. That’s why we cannot live by the letter alone<\/em>. It’s beautiful, oh my God, when you got the Holy Ghost, it\u2019ll open up marvelous truths\u00a0<\/em>to you, but without the Holy Ghost,\u00a0<\/em>it would build a form of godliness denying the power thereof. You\u2019ll have a structure that’s dead as a (unintelligible word) bone.<\/span><\/p>\n

If you don’t know that, I can give you a thousand cases of error translations. You don’t know a thing\u00a0<\/em>about Jesus except the Holy Ghost reveal it to you. One writer says that he went with his parents immediately to Egypt. Another one says he kept the feast of the Passover every year in Jerusalem.\u00a0<\/em>Never even left Egypt, didn’t even mention King Herod. One place he ascended from Bethany. Another place mentions another place. You have four different accounts of where Jesus ascended. You have four\u2013<\/span><\/p>\n

But I\u2013 sometimes I can\u2019t, uh, plan what I got to say. I just got to let the heart speak. He said take no thought for what you\u2019ll say in that hour, but the Holy Ghost\u00a0<\/em>will speak, and that’s what I’m trying to do. (Pause) Always some folk take off about time you tryin\u2019 to get a little truth across to their head. (Pause) San Jose, chief of police, a white man name of Blackburn. Just before [Richard] Nixon was elected. (Pause) Come down there. And they said there was a riot\u00a0<\/em>in San Jose. Said they were rock throwing. Chief of police got on the air, and he said there were no rock throwing. He said there were some troublemakers in the Nixon group<\/em>, but he said that wasn\u2019t nobody\u00a0<\/em>throwed any rocks at his car. (emphatic) And the chief of police lost his job in two months. He was gone<\/em>.<\/span><\/p>\n

Jones:\u00a0<\/strong>That was good\u00a0<\/em>business. That bunch down to Miam\u2013 Miami walking out naked and urinatin\u2019 in the street. I think that some of the Republicans put\u00a0<\/em>\u2018em in Miami to urinate in the street. I think that they\u2013 those that stopped those\u2013 that old lady and wh\u2013 whipped her car up and down, and turned her car over, I think that some of the Republicans put \u00a0<\/em>her there\u2013 put\u00a0<\/em>them there, because they know that they\u2019ll scare up old poor people to vote the way they want \u2018em to vote. You got to look for a devil these days, because he’s wise\u00a0<\/em>as a serpent<\/em>.<\/span><\/p>\n

Jones:\u00a0<\/strong>Mortal minds a (unintelligible word) old fox. Uh, you say I<\/em>don’t understand what kind of stuff you’re telling. Well, you just look back at Germany forty years ago, and if you don’t think we’ve learned something in the meantime\u2013 you surely\u00a0<\/em>think we’ve learned little things. You really believe that we’ve lived forty years since [Adolf] Hitler and we haven’t learned anything? How did Herr Hitler get the German people whipped up to a passion<\/em>? What did he do? He took [Marinus van der Lubbe] a Jew\u00a0<\/em>out of a mental home that didn’t know his right hand from his left, and took that Jew and set him on the outside of the German Senate, the Reichstag, and he took his own CIA, his Gestapo, and set that Senate building afire and burned it down, (Claps once) and the Berlin police came and found that Jew. The Jew was babbling, but what did the newspaper run the next day. The Deutsche\u2013 all the leading newspapers of Germany said a Jew Communist burned down the Senate building. And Hitler came on the radio waves (claps hands once), said we\u2019ve got disorder, we’ve got violence in the streets. He said give me the presidency, the prime ministry, elect me\u00a0<\/em>the chancellor, and I’ll have (calls) law and order. There’ll be no more confusion. There wasn’t. They elected him because of that lie and he killed seven million Jews and finally ridded every bit of opposition, eliminated ev\u2013 even the Christians such as (unintelligible name), Christians such as (unintelligible name), Christians such as Reinhardt, eliminated them, killed\u00a0<\/em>them in concentration camps such as (unintelligible name), murdered\u00a0<\/em>them.<\/span><\/p>\n

All you have to do now is go order it back through the files of Time<\/em>, Newsweek<\/em>, uh, it’s come out now, the secret papers are open<\/em>. He dressed up his secret police, his\u00a0<\/em>CIA, or his\u00a0<\/em>FBI, or his\u00a0<\/em>super-secret Gestapo. He dressed them up in Polish uniforms and attacked his own radio station on the border of Poland in Germany, killed everybody but the last announcer, and gave him just enough time to say we are being attacked<\/em>, people of Germany. The Polish army is attacking us. See what I’m saying?<\/span><\/p>\n

Jones:\u00a0<\/strong>So the German people all went to war and started bombing Warsaw and invaded Poland, because they thought that the Polish had invaded Germany. Say, aw, that\u2019ll never happen here. Didn\u2019t. Just now come out that we set up the Bay [Gulf] of Tonkin. It never happened. The Pentagon Papers. There’s a man on trial, right here in Los Angeles, his name\u2019s Dr. [Daniel] Ellsberg, because he’d rather have his soul than to keep what was on his conscience and he told the whole nation about the Pentagon Papers. They’re never was any Bay of Tonkin. There never was anybody that fired on us in Vietnam. Even the head of the ship said so, the captain [John Herrick] said there was never anybody that fired. And 60,000 young Americans have gone to the bloodbath for Tungsten, Standard Oil, US Steel, Tire and Rubber, and all the great conglomerates, and all the great combines. They’ve gone to war, and died to make the rich richer and the poor poorer. And we are letting that man in the courts, we don’t even hardly hear what he says. But every newspaper printed what he said, and said it was the truth, and the government told him not\u00a0<\/em>to print it. You remember? New York Times\u00a0<\/em>was threatened to be sued. The head of CBS was threatened to be sued, they\u2019re still (unintelligible word). One man, the head of CBS said I’m going to go to jail\u00a0<\/em>first, and he lost his job. Dr. [Frank] Stanton. Do you remember<\/em>? How long\u2019s your memory? Have you forgotten some of those things? That white-haired white man said I cannot st\u2013 be still<\/em>. He said this country has done infamous things. It\u2019s lied to us for the last twenty-five years, and he said I will not be still. Our government\u2019s lied, and so I’ll tell the truth and they\u2019re still\u2013 he\u2019s still threatened with a suit.<\/span><\/p>\n

Jones:\u00a0<\/strong>(Quiet) And he lost his job. (Pause) Now this is why I get down to the point every now and then. Unless you get the gospel of Christ which is to protect your soul here and today, Christ in you the hope of glory, unless you get\u00a0<\/em>that message, you will fail to see what’s going on around you. Jesus said the kingdom of heaven is on earth<\/em>. He said I’m naked and you did not clothe me. I was thirsty and you did not give me any drink. I was in prison like a Dr. Ellsberg, and you did not come to me.<\/span><\/p>\n

Jones:\u00a0<\/strong>They said Jesus, when did we ever see you in prison? He said in that the least of thee, who fight for righteousness, and\u2013 that\u2019s what sense it makes. If they’re in jail, I’m\u00a0<\/em>in jail, if the hungriest child is someplace without food<\/em>, I’m\u00a0<\/em>hungry. (Pause) Now you’ve been whipped up with a lot of fo\u2013 foolish people who say, (hushed tone) gonna fly away, we’re going to see Jesus upstairs. (Normal tone) You’re not going to see him upstairs, till you see him down here in the basement.<\/span><\/p>\n

He’s gonna look at some of you people when you say I’ve been a tithe payer, I belong to the First Church, I belong to Victory Avenue, I belong to the Emmanuel, I belong to the First Samaritan, I belong to this, that or the other, he gonna say (calls) depart from me. I never knew you. They were hungry old white woman that were up in an old tenant\u2013 rat tenant fe\u2013 infected [infested] section, you didn’t do anything about it. That poor black mothers and fathers down in Watts that didn’t have any homes, and didn’t have any jobs, and you didn’t do anything about it. That poor Indians that are dying at 42 years of age over in the reservation, and you\u00a0<\/em>didn’t do anything about it. (Pause) There\u2019re people like Dr. Ellsberg, and that great pediatrician Dr. [Benjamin] Spock that was in jail, and you\u00a0<\/em>didn\u2019t come to them. And I was there, because I’m always\u00a0<\/em>there where righteousness is. And so you didn’t come\u00a0<\/em>when I was hungry, you didn’t come\u00a0<\/em>when I was naked, you didn\u2019t come\u00a0<\/em>when I was a stranger, you didn’t come\u00a0<\/em>when I was sick. And so now you get away from me, because I never knew you. Said I paid my tithes, they said to him in Matthew, I paid my tithes, he said I don\u2019t care what you did. You paid your tithes, and you made a loud noise, you made your open show of yourself to be seen of men, but I’m telling you, I never knew\u00a0<\/em>you.<\/span><\/p>\n

Jones:\u00a0<\/strong>(Calms) That’s where fundamentalism has brought us today. The great power of Pentecost has been\u2013 it’s been internalized. It\u2019s just like an engine racing away in n\u2013 neutral or second gear with the brake on. That’s what we’ve done with Pentecost. (Calls out) Runnin\u2019 a motor to death. (unintelligible word) and jump and down and go and uh, say a few words in tongues, and jump up and down and get a frenzy, but when injustice is around us, there can be rat-infested tenements all around us, there can be no jobs, we are too busy jumping up and down. (full throat) The Holy Ghost said when it comes upon you, it\u2019ll take you out in to highways and out in the hedges, it\u2019ll cause you to go out there where man is suffering, out there where the needs\u00a0<\/em>are, and you\u2019ll do something about human need. Holy Ghost comes to lead you and guide you in all truth.<\/em>Said when the Holy Ghost comes, he\u2019ll give you power to be witnesses\u00a0<\/em>against all the injustices, all the sin, in Samaria, in Jerusalem, and the undermost parts of the earth. When the Holy Ghost comes, it\u2019ll make you brave, he’ll make you stand up for right, he’ll make you take on the devil, he’ll make you stand up against (unintelligible word, sounds like \u201cCarlamine.\u201d)<\/span><\/p>\n

When the Holy Ghost comes, he won’t let somebody like this little child was beat up in this place. They said don\u2019t you say it was here. Well, revelation told me that person lived here, and I\u2019ll say what I want to say, the Holy Ghost gonna speak.<\/span><\/p>\n

I want to give honor to a precious mother that was alone who is still in our church and now one of our secretaries. She had no husband to help her. He [Larry Tupper] was a cruel\u00a0<\/em>husband who\u2019s proved his racism and his hate. And she said you can rear him. He needs a daddy. And she gave him to me. No greater love has any woman. And I felt that she deserved honor, the second son that spoke to you. Rita Tupper in my church gave me that son, because she said you can do a better job with him than I could. And I feel that I should honor such a mother openly to (cries out, word unintelligible) God Almighty who has such love.<\/span><\/p>\n

Jones:\u00a0<\/strong>(Calm) A woman in her middle years, who\u2013 her only son, but she loved him so much, saw the trouble he was in, saw he\u2019d been in drugs, ev\u2013 even though he came in the church, he got out of that. But she said I feel he can even develop other things, so I’m giving him to you, and she never interferes, not one time. And I felt I had to honor such a mother in Zion. Where is Rita? Where is Rita? There she stands, right there.<\/span><\/p>\n

And if we get love like that, and turn the other check sufficiently, and keep on preaching, and keep on struggling, finally they won’t be able to fight us. They’ll have to give in, because love has a will to win, and it\u2019ll finally overcome death, hell and the grave. Hallelujah. (Pause) (Moderates) Spirit of God. You remember the next time you start thinking about hate, that the people that advocate hate are still around. But the people that advocate love have been shot down, because the system knows that love can beat them. (Cries out) Love can beat them. Forgiveness can beat them. Shining and true apostolic socialism of non-violence principle, it can beat\u00a0<\/em>them. And they know\u00a0<\/em>it can beat them, and they’re scared to death of love, because love can overcome tyranny, injustice and evil. (Pause) (Calms) Love can heal<\/em>. I’ve seen some of the carnal hearts in this room, used to hate\u00a0<\/em>people of other colors, and now love them. Some of us blacks that walk down s\u2013 aisles used to be Black Nationalist, and they hated. Now they\u2019ve loved so much that they’ve taken in people of other races. And I see some of the whites that were here from the Deep South that used to hate. Now they\u2019d give their life\u00a0<\/em>for their brother, they give their life\u00a0<\/em>for their sister. Some of the ones that used to hate<\/em>, who wouldn’t even go in the same restroom, now have taken and adopted little black children. (Cries out) Don’t\u00a0<\/em>you tell them that love cannot win, and it\u2019s our only hope.<\/span><\/p>\n

Jones:\u00a0<\/strong>I’m not going to start hatin\u2019, because it doesn\u2019t do any good to the person you\u2019re hatin\u2019, and it makes you feel like all the hellishness in the world inside, it makes you sick\u00a0<\/em>in your body, makes you sick your mind. I’m not going to hate. I’m not going to hate. They can kill me, but I’m not going to hate. (Voice begins to drop) I’m going to love I’m going to love I’m going to love. (Pause) (Voice builds) That don’t mean I’m going to pussyfoot. That doesn’t mean I’m going to stand by while there\u2019s some racist police beating on people. That doesn’t mean I’m going to stand by while people try to trick us into wars for the rich. I’ll cry out and I’ll stand up and I’ll show my people their transgressions and I’ll show the house of Jacob its sins. I’ll not be instant\u2013 only once in a while, but I\u2019ll be instant always\u00a0<\/em>in season and out of season. Sweet Spirit. (Pause) You get cancer by hatin\u2019, you get arthritis by hating. And you can get it otherwise, I don’t mean that you got the diseases that way, but it can cause you that much more\u00a0<\/em>problem. They just get cynical, and you get doubtful, you feel suicidal, you feel destructive. That\u2019s what the man wants us to feel. Like this stuff they\u2019re shoveling over the ne\u2013 the airwaves, [George] McGovern can’t win, McGovern can’t win, can’t win, no chance for him to win. Everybody says he can’t win. What does that\u2013 What do you suppose they\u2019re telling us that for? They want us to sit back and say there\u2019s no hope, and that’s what a lot of folk are doing. (Pause) Sure, it’s bad. Been a lot of foolish moves made. And I don’t think Republicans Democrats are two s\u2013 uh, sides of one coin. But I know this. I’m tired of anybody\u00a0<\/em>who ke\u2013 they say they’re going to make (stumbles over words) this war was supposed to be ended. The first thing that the president got elected. It was not ended. [Dwight] Eisenhower kept\u00a0<\/em>his word, this man [Richard Nixon] didn’t. And I see more hate developing than I’ve ever seen\u00a0<\/em>between the races. I’ve seen less money going to schools, and less money going for the old people, I’ve seen the welfare cutback, I’ve seen Social Security cut back. I’ve seen the\u2013 plight of the aged, it\u2019s worse than it\u2019s ever been. (Pause) So I\u2019ll vote for something,<\/em>even if it’s not the best<\/em>. I’ll vote for something better than what I’ve got.<\/span><\/p>\n

Jones:\u00a0<\/strong>And I’ve been a Republican all my life, but I’m telling you, I’m sick and tired of this business. We\u2019re going to have to get out\u2013 In fact it’s time that we got together, all right thinking people got together and started another party, \u2018cause there\u2019s so much dirt and rot in these\u2013 in these political parties that you can’t hardly get anything just done. (Pause) But I get suspicious when every day I’m reading the newspaper, 27 points behind. It\u2019s hopeless. No chance. (Pause) They’re trying to feed\u00a0<\/em>us what they want us to do. I said they’re trying to feed us what they want us to do.<\/span><\/p>\n

Jones:\u00a0<\/strong>(Tsks) Well, I didn’t think I would preach this way, but the Spirit, when it comes in, it doesn’t let you do your own thinking, and the Spirit takes over and the Holy Ghost does the talking. And if you have any doubt that the Holy Ghost has done the talking, that’s your\u00a0<\/em>problem, (Cries out) but I know the Holy Ghost moved me to say what I said.<\/span><\/p>\n

Jones:\u00a0<\/strong>But we want also to do something in Seattle. We know that the truth causes some of you to be separated from other churches that you\u2019ve once been united with. And we do not wish to uh, see in any way uh, in a feeling of aimlessness<\/em>, we want you to be a part\u00a0<\/em>of this wonderful growing fellowship. (Pause) I see that some of our churches have brought biased uh, reporting, you don\u2019t expected to see anything but biased reporting. Some of our churches have brought that in, but uh, we’ve never had any biased news, that\u2019ll be good for us, we’ve never had that before, so it\u2019ll be good if we have a little bit of this. Uh\u2013 I sensed in walking there uh\u2013 uh, very, very arrogant, and he wrote down I\u2019m sure that uh, comments about race and so forth. Uh\u2013 So it’s not an open mind. But don’t be bothered by that. I know them when they come, and they’re all good for your perfection. And I\u2019m rather glad to see them. I’m glad that we’ve stirred up enough for the preachers here who are robbing the people blind, that uh, they\u2019ll have tried to get the\u2013 uh, the media to come and uh, see if they can portray a bad picture. And the media will do\u2013 always\u00a0<\/em>do that, they’ll never put it just right. They can’t. Because they’re special interest. (Pause) You know what I mean. Never knows how to do anything objective. We talk about a free press. I\u2019m afraid we don’t have any such anymore (clears throat). It’s not free of bias, it’s not free of prejudice, it’s not free of its own axe to grind. And so we have uh, now stirred up enough of the (Pause) churches, the established churches, that they are here to see what we are doing. And we’re glad\u00a0<\/em>if they come with an open mind. But they don’t have an open mind. When they write down, as I know he wrote down, about how many are black and how many are this or that, then it shows immediately where they are. So that’s why I just called for a (unintelligible word, could be \u201cgoverning\u201d) meeting and just dismissed them. They came with their photographer\u2013 their photography. I\u2013 I never fall prey to that. When you have discernment, you know. At least if they\u2019re going to print anything about me, they’re going to have to print from imagination, because I\u2019m not going to encourage\u00a0<\/em>them. Because only an egotistical spirit, a carnal spirit, a s\u2013 proud spirit would want to entertain publicity. Uh, they\u2013 they can’t possibly know the Spirit of God, so why waste your time, and if you give them cooperation by taking pictures and so forth, then you conspire with their stories, and I don’t conspire with their stories. This is the first time I’ve ever seen one come. They want to take a picture of me, and I’m not co\u2013 inclined to give a picture to anyone unless I feel they’re moved by the Spirit of God. If they’re moved by the Spirit of God, then I’ll let them take my picture, and if they’re not moved by the Spirit of God, I’m not\u2013 I’m not on display. Nor are my people\u00a0<\/em>on display. I feel the freedom of assembly, the freedom of assembly\u2013<\/span><\/p>\n

Jones:\u00a0<\/strong>\u2013the right of religious assembly guarantees you that you do not have to be disrupted. And that’s a point of order. I’ve got some attorneys here in our church that I think they’ve established that very well, that you have a right to your privacy, you have a right to worship God, according to the dictates of your heart, without interruption. And I feel that we don’t have anything that\u00a0<\/em>mo\u2013 important to has to go on, that we’re going to sit with two very carnal minds that are moving around\u2013 that’s the one I talked about, he came floating in here and floating around, I knew his spirit the moment he came in. He didn’t identify himself but I knew him. (clears throat) So uh, when I <\/em>see that kind of thing, I will change the order. If you felt a little change of order, that’s my doings. Because I do not intend to have pictures taken of a sister who was healed. If they’re going to come with their co\u2013 Holy Spirit motivated magazine, fine, we’ll be glad to have it, but they’ve never\u2013 I’ve never seen any work done on any healing ministry, I’ve never had\u00a0<\/em>any publicity done about ours. But I’ve never seen any publicity done on healing ministry that was anything fair. So I don’t intend to have uh, any people here exposed\u00a0<\/em>to that kind of thing. So I would say to you that you just\u2013 If anyone wants to take a \u2013 take a picture of you, uh, about uh, you know, from uh, some worldly organization, I would say no. I don’t choose\u00a0<\/em>to have my picture taken. No, I don’t choose to have my services, my worship taken. That\u2019s why I stopped the music. I wasn\u2019t going to let them take the opportunity of making fun of those that might be anointed and move or shout or dance under the inspiration of Spirit. I was not going to give them the advantage of writing what they wanted to write. \u2018Cause they come with the wrong\u00a0<\/em>mind and the wrong spirit. So I just don’t\u2013 I won\u2019t expose you. If I had to close meeting down tonight, and we had to go out and just fellowship here, just talk to one another, I will do that. If they come back again tomorrow, I\u2019ll do the same thing. Until I get to talking to some people I<\/em>know also in the newspaper. (Pause) Somebody\u2019s going to come in and let them be\u2013 behave themselves in\u2013 in order<\/em>, come in decency and order, not moving around, jumping around, in and out of your building, looking at people, and talking to people at l\u2013 at random through the audience. That is disturbing a religious assembly, and I uh, understand the law, it carries a pena\u2013 it carries a penalty and sentence. You have no\u00a0<\/em>right to disturb anyone’s religious assembly.<\/span><\/p>\n

Congregation:\u00a0<\/strong>Murmurs.<\/span><\/p>\n

Jones:\u00a0<\/strong>So that’s why I called for a little bit of talk. We were going to have a talk anyway. We would\u2019ve talked very publicly about it, about how we can best serve this area. We\u2019re also interested in serving that wonderful group of people that come from Canada. How many came up from Canada this time? Look at that, look at that. Beautiful, beautiful, beautiful.<\/span><\/p>\n

Congregation:\u00a0<\/strong>Applause.<\/span><\/p>\n

Jones:\u00a0<\/strong>Sixty or 70 people at least that are there\u2013 that are here from Canada. We want you to know and to feel that if you are in any way facing some trial, we have free attorneys. That’s something to tell that uh, objective mind out there, the subjective mind. We ar\u2013 we have free legal services that are open and available to any\u00a0<\/em>of those who are in harmony with the good works of Christ. We will assist you in this manner through mail correspondence or though personal counseling. The Assistant District Attorney [Tim Stoen], as you know, of our county is a member of our church. And now we have another attorney from the adjacent county, who is uh, assistant deputy attorney there who\u2019s given up his job, who\u2019s laid aside his secular work, just to do the work of the people, just to help people in their distress, because I\u2019m sure you’re aware, aren’t you, that no one rich ever gets into too much difficulty. And you think you’re rich in here? There\u2019s not a rich one here. Wait\u2019ll you get into some litigation or some suit. What if someone wants to sue you, and they do it for the\u2013 People are just looking\u00a0<\/em>for ways to sue these days. They fall on your yard and sue you, or to fall\u2013 fall on your step, and uh, all kinds of carnal minds about, and you\u2019ll find out that your insurances are not sufficient to take care of the kind of trials that you come through. We feel it’s the duty of the church, the obligation of the church to take care of first the household of the faith. We feel that it should take care of the household of the faith in every area. It should educate its children, it should take care of its people in their golden years, it should be as a family. The body of Christ represents\u00a0<\/em>a family. A body represents a congregational life, a family life. And so we are assuming as much responsibility, even for the little unwanted animals. That’s another point that needs to be made. I think the people who\u2013 they want to see objectively. They going to have to get \u2013 give what we’re giving them. They’re getting our interview, we get \u2018em out in the foyer, and we’re giving them what we\u00a0<\/em>uh, are telling them about practical work. They’re not going to get here and take notes. I\u2013 he\u2013 he doesn\u2019t know the what I am. He\u00ad\u2013 He taking notes and he say three out of four were black, black woman dancing and jumping around, and I\u2013 you think I’m going to allow that? No, sirree sir. No, I know what’s up to and I’m (Unintelligible word, tape fade). (Pause) (Clears throat) Yes, yes, I know. So I’m not\u2013 I’m not going to uh, uh, go\u00a0<\/em>through that. I uh, don’t care what\u00a0<\/em>he wants to write about me, because I can take it. My skin is\u2013 my\u2013 I tell you, my skin is just as thick as a cowhide. He can write anything he wants to about me, because it says they that live godly in Christ Jesus shall suffer persecution, and if you don’t get it, you’re not living (unintelligible word) you ought to be. And if you’re not giving it, we\u2019re not getting it.<\/span><\/p>\n

Congregation:\u00a0<\/strong>Applause.<\/span><\/p>\n

Jones: <\/strong>If somebody not talking about you, and I really want all to be before the press is come around to talk, because particularly we have not been as strong in Seattle. Now they\u2019re little afraid of numbers sometimes. In Los Angeles, they came and they looked at the big crowd and they decided they didn’t want to take on that many subscribers, \u2018cause in Los Angeles we have four or five thousand people, and they look around and they weigh that, you know. Well, that’s an advertiser, here or that\u2013 that many people that might not take our paper<\/em>. But we’re just that small number here. This is a smallest group we have. We’re just small enough that they think they’ll try to push us around, and I’ll tell you, they\u2019re having an (unintelligible word) time trying to push us very far, won\u2019t they.<\/span><\/p>\n

Congregation:\u00a0<\/strong>Responds and applause.<\/span><\/p>\n

Jones:\u00a0<\/strong>I have never seen one healing ministry, in the great days of Boatwright [likely Crichton Russ Boatwright] to the days of uh, (Pause) the author of uh\u2013 what is the author uh, it was in Carolina that I have respect for. (Taps podium) Oh, I can’t think of the name offhand. No\u00a0<\/em>one\u2013 no\u00a0<\/em>one ever receives the proper kind of coverage that will build faith in\u2013 in a newspaper. So I do not lend myself to these kind of interviews. When they come, I just say, I’m not interested in your interviews. I don’t have a desire that my own name be known. I wouldn’t even hold on to an identity as a person. If it were possible, I would not even refer to anything but Christ or God, because I want nothing to be seen but God. I think that’s the desire of all your heart. You want to be mortified, crucified with Christ, nevertheless to live, yet not you but Christ to live in you which is the hope of glory. And this is my own desire, that to be seen nothing but God. But the work that I do, you reproduce in yourself. You\u2019ll take a picture of me and take cognizance of my teaching and reproduce a greater\u00a0<\/em>picture in own likeness and image, so that God\u00a0<\/em>would be glorified, not the name of Jim Jones or the name of Peoples Temple, but that the Spirit<\/em>, the Holy\u00a0<\/em>Spirit, the beautiful spirit of love, that great self-sacrificing love spirit that’s been with us since the beginning and never will leave us, lo, not even to the end of the world, that same spirit. I want that\u00a0<\/em>spirit to be garnered and that\u00a0<\/em>spirit to be glorified. And so I have no need\u00a0<\/em>to be honored as a person. One newspaper in the\u2013 San Francisco honored me and give me the most uh\u2013 outstanding award for humanitarian service for the year. They wanted to give me a special party. They wanted me to come to a special party. I said I have no time to come to parties. If you want to award me as a humanitarian, fine, but I have no time to party. I’ve got no time to party except with the children of God. I have no fellowship except with the body of Christ. I have no friends except in the family of God.<\/span><\/p>\n

Congregation:\u00a0<\/strong>Applause.<\/span><\/p>\n

Jones:\u00a0<\/strong>I believe and take seriously the ethics of the scripture, who is my father and my mother? Who is my sister and my brother, except he that do the will of the\u2013 uh, him that sent me. I have relatives that do not love all races. I will not go to see them, they are not going to be bothered by me, because if they don’t uphold the name of Jesus Christ, then I am not interested in them. I will sacrifice all for the Christ spirit, and if you’re not prepared to do that, you will lose your soul in the process. I said, you better be willing to sacrifice husbands and wives, houses and lands, all your earthly goods and separate yourself as a clean and pure vessel, or God will not be able to use you.<\/span><\/p>\n

Congregation:\u00a0<\/strong>Responds.<\/span><\/p>\n

Jones:\u00a0<\/strong>You have\u00a0<\/em>to have that holiness of heart. And if there\u2019s attachments of the mortal version, where your treasure is, there will your heart be also. If you hold on to family and friends, if you hold on to prestige and opinion<\/em>, if you hold on to the traditions\u00a0<\/em>of men, and the traditions of the elders, you will lose your soul in the process. (Pause) Shortly we\u2019ll have some air that\u2019ll be\u2013maybe they can open that and can get a little air there. (Clears throat) Air\u2013 It doesn’t bother me. Is there any possibility of opening that to the\u2013 just see it, uh, you better slip around these uh, photography, if you want to get me a picture, that’s all right, I don’t mind it. I won’t bother to get out of his way. I don’t want him bothering my\u2013 my people. I’m a shepherd, and I protect my people. To so much I protect my people, you’ve never found anybody today like me. I won’t put you through anything. He started to aim for this sister when she got healed, he was going to come up and take her picture. I blocked\u00a0<\/em>him. I had him blocked. She was dancing, and she was enjoying her spirit of praise. She was enjoying her God, and I’m not going to have any worldly photographer get between her and her savior.<\/span><\/p>\n

Congregation:\u00a0<\/strong>Calls and applause.<\/span><\/p>\n

Jones:\u00a0<\/strong>We’re not a circus and that\u2013 if anything that annoys me when we pay the rent on a place, and we’re worshipping God in the\u2013 according to the dictates of our hearts, we want to be left alone. And we will\u00a0<\/em>be left alone, \u2018cause we’ll just change it to a musical. We’ll do (unintelligible word). We will be left alone, \u2018cause we can start this meeting at el\u2013 11:00 o clock tonight. Sometimes those folks will go to bed, and sometimes we can get up.<\/span><\/p>\n

Congregation:\u00a0<\/strong>Calls and applause.<\/span><\/p>\n

Jones:\u00a0<\/strong>God is no respecter of your person, and when you start the first sentence of your commentary that there are so many blacks, there\u2019re so many\u2013 that has nothing to do with the price of eggs, and when you\u2019re noticing how many blacks or how many whites or how many reds or how many Indians, when you’re noticing all those things, you have got a bigoted heart, and I know you (muffled word) a sound opinion from the (unintelligible word), so I don’t want anything to do with you. If you come and say I see the glory of God, I saw someone healed, but it had to be black\u00a0<\/em>woman\u2013 And I tolerate it. What\u2019s that got to do with it? Yeah, I know when you’re uh, uh\u2013 there’s one difference in this meeting. I know when you walk\u00a0<\/em>in the door what you’re up to. I know you before you came. I know what you\u2019ve got in mind when you walk in. I know what’s in your heart, \u2018cause the Holy Ghost is sharper than a two-edged sword.<\/span><\/p>\n

Congregation:\u00a0<\/strong>Responds.<\/span><\/p>\n

Jones:\u00a0<\/strong>Said the Word of God is made flesh, and the Word of God is dwelling amongst us. And the Word of God has never\u00a0<\/em>left us. Said, lo, I am with you, always even unto the end of the world. It\u2019s never left us. And Hebrews 4:12 tells you what the word of God does. It\u2019s sharper than a two-edged sw\u2013 sword, it will divide bone from marrow. That’s what we did Wednesday night, when a woman was crippled, was healed instantly. The bone and the marrow were separated. (Claps once) It says that it is quick\u00a0<\/em>and powerful, and I could say some quick and powerful things, because God\u00a0<\/em>lives in this body. It says it will discern the thoughts\u00a0<\/em>of the mind, and know the intents of the heart, separate the soul\u00a0<\/em>from the spirit<\/em>. Three people one time thought they would do adverse things to God, even in a slight\u00a0<\/em>way. They dropped dead right in our meeting. How many saw it? They dropped dead. I said, give up the ghost, they went down, give up the ghost, they went down, give up the ghost, they went down. And then I restored them and they were mighty quick to repent. They all came to the microphone very quickly to repent. So I do not wish to uh, waste time on the foolishness of a\u2013 of the world. I have no desire to be entertaining uh, newspapers<\/em>. I’ll entertain strangers, for thereby I might entertain angels unaware. But I know one thing: if you work for the media today, you have already sold\u00a0<\/em>your soul. You sold your soul to special interest. Over 1400 cities in this country only have one\u00a0<\/em>newspaper, and those one newspaper, and that\u2013 that\u2013 that\u2013 that one newspaper will throttle out any competition. Oh, yes, it does. We’re in a bad time\u00a0<\/em>in this land. You look at the newspaper conglomerates, you\u2019ll see they’re owning the TV and they’re all mixed up. We have got control of the news because it\u2013 we don’t have two sides of an opinion<\/em>. (Pause) You got to at least have two opinions to have freedom. But the major cities of America today only have one newspaper. And that one newspaper\u2013 Oh, you say, well, it’s got two names on it. That don’t mean a thing. Look who owns\u00a0<\/em>it. Look behind the scene who owns\u00a0<\/em>it. One family owns a third of the newspapers in the United States. And I tell you, that’s dangerous<\/em>. You need a free\u00a0<\/em>press, you need a free\u00a0<\/em>assembly, we need a freedom\u00a0<\/em>of religion. And that means freedom to have our worship in peace and not to be bothered. And I\u00a0<\/em>will stand up for that, and I demand\u00a0<\/em>it. \u2018Course the danger, they’re going to write about you negatively when you do that. But I figure they’re going to write negatively about you anyway. What can carnal minds say about the spirit of God? Carnal minds can only\u00a0<\/em>speak ill of the spirit of God, can’t say anything but\u00a0<\/em>ill of the spirit of God. Carnal minds is carnally and carnal uh, is\u2013 has been carnal from his beginning and he\u2019ll be carnal to his end. The carnal mind is death, and it\u2019ll be deathly in its interpretation of anything that goes on. So I’m not interested\u00a0<\/em>in what carnal man has to say. In fact, I would say, that the scripture says beware when all men speak well of you. I would be most\u00a0<\/em>unhappy if someone came in here and printed very good things about us down the line, because I would know\u00a0<\/em>we are not where we ought to be, because he said they that live godly in Christ Jesus shall suffer persecution. You will even be killed, they will kill you thinking they do what? God\u00a0<\/em>a service. (Cries out) Not the devil, but God a service. They\u2019ll kill\u00a0<\/em>you, thinking they do God\u00a0<\/em>a service, so I welcome that old fashion persecution that was once delivered to the saints. I want the same kind of opposition that came to the Pentecostal church when they receive their first experience. (Pause) And I\u2019d be mightily concerned if I got anything else.<\/span><\/p>\n
