Referenced telegrams as well as news media coverage concerning the group known as the “People’s Temple” have stated that there may have been or inferred that there may still exist a plan to assassinate the President of the United States and all in line of succession, or to assassinate\/kidnap high ranking government officials.<\/p>\n 2. The Department of State, Office of Security, has the protective responsibility for Secretary of State Cyrus Vance. To meet our responsibilities, it is requested that the DOS, Office of Security, be notified immediately of any information regarding the secretary, his office, or any Department of State employee, during the ongoing investigations being conducted by the USSS\/FBI.<\/p>\n 3.
