Re WFO teletype to Bureau, dated December 5, 1978.<\/p>\n
On December 6, 1978, Jackie Spier [Speier], aide to U.S. Congressman Leo Ryan, presently convalescing at the Arlington Hospital, Arlington, Virginia, advised that she has received no personal threats to her life since returning to the U.S. Spier advised that Joe Holsinger, Administrative Aide to Ryan, told her while she was at the Shock Trauma Center in Baltimore, Maryland, that a telephonic threat had been received by the hospital, contents of which contained a threat to Spier\u2019s life. Spier was not aware as to any specific conversation that ensued concerning the telephone call.<\/p>\n

Spier stated that she had in her possession a large Sony cassette tape recorder, black in color, during her travel from Jonestown to the airstrip when departing for home. The tape recorder was setting alongside of her person while riding in the cab of a truck. Spier has not seen this tape recorder since that time. Spier stated that the tape recorder contained a tape which recorded conversations between PT numbers and Representative Ryan, including some declarations of intent to leave the Temple by PT members.<\/p>\n
