Other information which remains withheld under the Freedom of Information Act has been denoted in green type.]<\/em><\/p>\n<p>FBI Airtel<\/p>\n<p>Date 12\/6\/78<\/p>\n<p>TO: DIRECTOR, FBI<br \/>\nFROM: SAC, BROOKLYN QUEENS MRA (89-495) (P)<br \/>\nSUBJECT: RYMUR<\/p>\n<p>ReNYteletype to Bureau, 12\/4\/78.<\/p>\n<p>Enclosed for the Bureau are one (1) and for San Francisco two (2) copies of FD-302 Re: interview of [<span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">Diane Louie Rozynko<\/span>] at New York, upon [<span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">Louie<\/span>]\u2019s arrival from Georgetown, Guyana, 12\/3\/78.<\/p>\n<p>FD-302<\/p>\n<p>Federal Bureau of Investigation<\/p>\n<p>Date of transcription 12\/4\/78<\/p>\n<p>[<span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">Diane Louie Rozynko<\/span>] was interviewed in the presence of Special Agent <span style=\"color: #008000;\">[Name deleted]<\/span>, United States Secret Service at Pan American Hangar 17, JFK Airport, Queens, New York. The interview was carried on the following day at the Pan Am Motel, Queens Boulevard, Queens, New York, and the following information was furnished by [<span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">Louie<\/span>]:<\/p>\n<p>[<span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">Louie<\/span>] advised that she became a member of the People\u2019s Temple (PT) Church in San Francisco, California approximately five years ago. [<span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">Louie<\/span>] that she joined the Church primarily because of the humanitarian accomplishments she believed the PT Church to be making. [<span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">Louie<\/span>] advised that she gave all the money she had, including a house and property in Sacramento which she inherited to the PT Church. [<span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">Louie<\/span>] stated that when she entered the PT Church it was common practice for a black person to marry a white person. She married <span style=\"color: #008000;\">[name deleted]<\/span>, since deceased, however, the marriage was never consummated, and she continued to live with her common-law husband, <span style=\"color: #008000;\">[name deleted]<\/span>. In May 1978, [<span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">Louie<\/span>] went to Jonestown, Guyana. [<span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">Louie<\/span>]\u2019s duties at Jonestown were to perform the duties of <span style=\"color: #008000;\">[information deleted]<\/span> even though she only had a certificate from the <span style=\"color: #008000;\">[one line of information deleted]<\/span>. [<span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">Louie<\/span>] stated that Joyce Parks was a Nurse Practitioner at the hospital and she believes Parks is presently in San Francisco. Sharon Cobb was a Pediatric Nurse Practitioner whom [<span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">Louie<\/span>] believes to be dead. Wanda King was a Licensed Practical Nurse and X-Ray Technician, believed to be dead at this time. Dr. Lawrence [Laurence] Eugene Schacht was an unlicensed doctor practicing at this clinic. [<span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">Louie<\/span>] believed Schacht to be totally unqualified to handle the number of people at Jonestown and stated that he was mentally unstable and had suicidal tendencies. [<span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">Louie<\/span>] stated that Schacht also had a history of drug addiction.<\/p>\n<p>Upon [<span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">Louie<\/span>]\u2019s arrival at Jonestown, she stated that she thought Reverend Jim Jones was insane. [<span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">Louie<\/span>] advised that he was a changed person from the individual she knew when she joined the PT Church. [<span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">Louie<\/span>] stated that she was not free to leave Jonestown, and that to even talk of leaving Jonestown would subject you to beatings and sedation by use of drugs.<\/p>\n<p>BQ 89-495<br \/>\n2.<\/p>\n<p>[<span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">Louie<\/span>] advised that the Jonestown Commune had a Security Force which included certain individuals referred to as &#8220;Angels&#8221;. The &#8220;Angels&#8221; were the elite of the Security Force and they would &#8220;take care&#8221; of anyone that left the PT Church. The subordinate members of the Security Force not referred to as \u201cAngels&#8221; were merely responsible for camp security and monitoring and reporting the behavior of the commune members. [<span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">Louie<\/span>] advised that most of the security members were armed at one time or another during her stay there. Believed to be dead.<br \/>\nTom Grubbs, white male, 40-50, 5&#8217;7&#8243;, 160 pounds, blonde hair, believed to be dead<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>[<span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">Louie<\/span>] had no knowledge of Reverend Jones\u2019 possession of a primitive nuclear device.<\/p>\n<p>[<span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">Louie<\/span>] advised that there was also a squad of personnel at the commune trained in silent weaponry (bows and arrows). [<span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">Louie<\/span>] stated that Reverend Jones had sex with everyone on the Planning Commission and frequently bragged about this publicly. [<span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">Louie<\/span>] stated that Michael Simon, black male, late 20s, 5&#8217;8&#8243;, 145 pounds, dark brown Afro, Medical Department employee at Jonestown, had told her that a few days before the day of the suicide the basketball team was called back to Jonestown but did not return.<\/p>\n<p>[<span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">Louie<\/span>] furnish the following descriptive data on additional occupants of the Jonestown Commune:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>Chris O&#8217;Neal, one of the individuals that approach Congressman Ryan to leave Jonestown, not a member of Planning Commission, Security Force or basketball team<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>BQ 89-495<br \/>\n9.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>Liz Ruggerio, white female, 20s, 5&#8217;6&#8243;, 160 pounds, Nurse at Pharmacy Office, believed dead<br \/>\nPam Bradshaw, white female, 20s, 5&#8217;6&#8243;, 125 pounds, short blonde hair, wears glasses, sister of Sandy Bradshaw, believed dead<br \/>\nChuck Bikeman [Beikman], white male, 50s, 175 pounds, 5&#8217;7&#8243;, blond hair, crew cut, believed to have killed Sharon Amos and be is [is in] custody in Georgetown<br \/>\nStephen Bikeman [Thomas Beikman], unknown to [<span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">Louie<\/span>]<br \/>\nElihue [Ellihue] Dennis, black male, 30s, 150 pounds, 5&#8217;7&#8243; \u2013 5&#8217;8&#8243;, thin build, short black Afro<br \/>\nStanley Gieg, possible member of Security Force, operated small vessel named \u201cCudule\u201d (ph) [\u201cCudjoe\u201d]<br \/>\nJoyce Touchette, white female, 40s, 5&#8217;6&#8243;, 130 pounds, short brown hair, in charge of kitchen at Jonestown<br \/>\nCharlie Touchette, white male, 50s, 5&#8217;8&#8243;, 165 pounds, salt-and-pepper hair, husband of Joyce<br \/>\nMichelle Touchette, white female, 5&#8217;4&#8243;, 105 pounds, 19 years old, long brown hair, girlfriend of Stephen Jones<br \/>\nMike Touchette, white male, 5&#8217;7&#8243;, 140 pounds, blond hair<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>[<span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">Louie<\/span>] advised that the following individuals were members of a Finance Committee at Jonestown:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>Lee Ingram, description furnished above<br \/>\nCharlie Touchette, description furnished above<br \/>\nJack Beam, description furnished above<br \/>\nTish Leroy, description furnished above<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>BQ 89-495<br \/>\n10<\/p>\n<p>[<span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">Louie<\/span>] had no specific knowledge concerning bribery or influence peddling by members of the PT Church, however, she stated that Reverend Jones appeared to have a great deal of political influence.<\/p>\n<p>[<span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">Louie<\/span>] stated that if an assassination squad existed it would probably include members of the group known as &#8220;Angels&#8221;.<\/p>\n<p>[<span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">Louie<\/span>] had no specific knowledge regarding how weapons were shipped to Jonestown. [<span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">Louie<\/span>] stated that when leaving for Jonestown your baggage was turned over to the PT Church for packing and one friend of hers, Thelma Jackson, discovered a gun in her baggage upon arrival in Jonestown.<\/p>\n<p>[<span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">Louie<\/span>] stated that she had no specific knowledge of firearms training received by the PT Church members.<\/p>\n<p>[<span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">Louie<\/span>] advised that she was unaware of any threats to harm public officials but that Jones had made repeated reference to the fact that &#8220;Angels&#8221; would \u201cget\u201d any defectors of the PT Church.<\/p>\n<p>[<span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">Louie<\/span>] advised that she was not aware of the location where the weapons were kept at Jonestown. However, Joe Wilson was the individual in charge of the weapons.<\/p>\n<p>[<span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">Louie<\/span>] stated that she was unaware of a contingency plan in the event Jones was arrested or the Church was attacked, however, she stated that she assumed the mass suicide may have been this plan.<\/p>\n<p>[<span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">Louie<\/span>] stated that she was unaware of any official, federal, international or other targeted for murder, however, she stated Reverend Jones would not discuss this in from the general populus [populace] of the commune. She stated that he would only discuss this with close associates like Lee Ingram, Terry Bufford and Johnny Jones.<\/p>\n<p>BQ 89-495<br \/>\n11<\/p>\n<p>[<span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">Louie<\/span>] advised that she had no specific knowledge regarding criminal offenses committed by PT Church members, however, she stated that there were members who could not return to the United States because they would be arrested by officials. Jones often taunted these individuals with this fact.<\/p>\n<p>[<span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">Louie<\/span>] stated that the individuals having access to the radio and code used are as follows:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>Sandy Cobb<br \/>\nKaren Layton<br \/>\nLee Ingram<br \/>\nPaula Adams<br \/>\nHarriet Tropp<br \/>\nMike Prooks<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>[<span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">Louie<\/span>] stated that she was unaware of the code used, however, she knows that Jean Brown in San Francisco was referred to as Martha on the radio.<\/p>\n<p>[<span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">Louie<\/span>] advised that PT members had to sign blank pieces of paper when they went to Temple. The members later learned that confessions were typed on these pieces of paper, making it appear as if the members had signed the confession. Towards the end at Jonestown the members were made to write the confessions themselves, with Reverend Jones telling them to think of the worst thing they could possibly think of and write this on the paper.<\/p>\n<p>[<span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">Louie<\/span>] advised that she had no knowledge regarding relocation plans in the event of a mass suicide, however, Reverend Jones frequently spoke of relocating the PT in Russia, Cuba and even Africa.<\/p>\n<p>[<span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">Louie<\/span>] advised that during October two Russians, one an official and one a doctor, visited Jonestown.<\/p>\n<p>BQ 89-495<br \/>\n12<\/p>\n<p>One of the Russians was named Dr. Fedoruski (ph), a white male, late 40s, blonde hair. [<span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">Louie<\/span>] stated that the Russian official accompanying the doctor spoke to the people at Jonestown briefly.<\/p>\n<p>[<span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">Louie<\/span>] advised that she was unaware of the source of drugs used in Jonestown, however, Thoresene [Thorazine] was used to sedate defectors and various other oral sedatives including Valium were used. [<span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">Louie<\/span>] stated that she had no knowledge of drugs being produced at Jonestown. [<span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">Louie<\/span>] stated that she was afraid to ask too many questions or appear too inquisitive. [<span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">Louie<\/span>] advised that the &#8220;Albatross&#8221;, a PT Church ship, was operated by Richard Janaro, Helen Swinny [Swinney], and Wesley Briedenbach [Breidenbach]. Briedenbach, described as a white male, 5&#8217;9&#8243;, 140 pounds, early 20s, brownish curly hair, also worked on small vessel \u201cCudule\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>[<span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">Louie<\/span>] advised that the dolls in the shape of animals for made by approximately 30 members of the Jonestown Commune for sale at Georgetown.<\/p>\n<p>[<span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">Louie<\/span>] advised that Reverend Jones frequently held &#8220;white nights&#8221;, also known as &#8220;alphas&#8221;. On these occasions, normally when something had upset Jones, he would call all the people at Jonestown to the pavilion and talk of preparing to die. Reverend Jones would ask his people to raise their hand if they were willing to die. Reverend Jones would tell them that they should be prepared to die with dignity. [<span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">Louie<\/span>] stated that on each occasion she raised her hand rather than face the consequences of not being ready to die. She stated anyone who did not raise his hand was brought forward and subjected to public ridicule by Reverend Jones. These people if persistent were beaten by the Security Force and at times removed to the Special Care Unit where they were administered narcotics until rendered helpless. [<span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">Louie<\/span>] advised that the first &#8220;white night&#8221; which she attended upon arrival at Jonestown lasted seven days.<\/p>\n<p>BQ 89-495<br \/>\n13<\/p>\n<p>Jones did not allow the people to leave the pavilion during the entire seven-day period. [<span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">Louie<\/span>] stated that she had never seen a practice suicide drill, however, other members of the commune had told her that one had been conducted in the past where the members were made to line up and drink the kool-aid.<\/p>\n<p>[<span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">Louie<\/span>] advised that two days prior to Congressman Ryan&#8217;s arrival Reverend Jones called a &#8220;white night&#8221;. [<span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">Louie<\/span>] could not recall Reverend Jones exact words, however, he stated that if Ryan and concerned relatives of commune members entered Jonestown they would get out alive. [<span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">Louie<\/span>] stated that at this &#8220;white night&#8221; the Security Force did not have the rifles, shotguns and pistols that they carried on previous &#8220;white nights&#8221;. Reverend Jones asked who was not ready to die and [<span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">Louie<\/span>] advised that no one raised their hand.<\/p>\n<p>[<span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">Louie<\/span>] advised that on the morning of Saturday, November 18, 1978 at approximately 8:30 AM, she and <span style=\"color: #008000;\">[information deleted]<\/span> Richard Clark, observed that the guards at the commune were lax and that no weapons were in sight. She stated that the congressman&#8217;s aid [aide] was making a walking tour around the camp and that she and Clark decided that this was the time to escape. [<span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">Louie<\/span>] stated that she had talked with Bob Kice on that morning and he was upset because everyone was off work detail. [<span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">Louie<\/span>] told Kice that she was going down to the piggery, which was a livestock area commonly frequented by commune members. On the path leading to the piggery [<span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">Louie<\/span>] and Clark passed Stanley Gieg and Elhue [Ellihue] Dennis, both driving tractors. [<span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">Louie<\/span>] stated that she felt something was going to happen this day, however, she was not sure exactly what or when it would occur.<\/p>\n<p>BQ 89-495<br \/>\n14<\/p>\n<p>[<span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">Louie<\/span>] advised that she and Clark picked up some clothing and a tape recorder which he had stashed in the bushes previously. The tape recorder was to be sold for cash since they had no money. She stated that they also had a machete to cut through the bush. [<span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">Louie<\/span>] advised that with her and Clark were [<span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">Leslie Wilson<\/span>] and her baby and the [<span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">Evans<\/span>] family. [<span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">Louie<\/span>] stated that Clark had previously cut a path with Robert Paul and [<span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">Johnny Franklin<\/span>] who also escaped that same morning. [<span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">Louie<\/span>] stated that they proceeded through the bush to the railroad tracks which ran between Port Kaituma and Matthews Ridge. She stated that it was shorter to Pork Kaituma, however, they decided not to go that way since Congressman Ryan&#8217;s plane was there and they were convinced something was going to happen to him. [<span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">Louie<\/span>] advised that a train passed going to Port Kaituma as they continued along the tracks and the train returned, they boarded and rode to Matthews Ridge. [<span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">Louie<\/span>] stated that at Matthews Ridge the Guyanese Police observed them and brought them to the police station for questioning. At this time she learned that Congressman Ryan had been shot. [<span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">Louie<\/span>] advised that they were subsequently taken to Georgetown, where she was afforded accommodations at the Park Hotel.<\/p>\n<p>[<span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">Louie<\/span>] advised that there were tape recordings at Jonestown which instructed occupants of the commune what answers to supply if they were questioned by newsmen or visitors. These tapes were furnished by Reverend Jones.<\/p>\n<p>[<span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">Louie<\/span>] advised that all the mail addressed to Jonestown was delivered to Box 893, Georgetown and censored prior to delivery to Jonestown.<\/p>\n<p>[<span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">Louie<\/span>] stated that the PT headquarters in Georgetown was the Lamaha House, Georgetown telephone number 71924.<\/p>\n<p>BQ 89-495<br \/>\n15<\/p>\n<p>[<span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">Louie<\/span>] advised that following the mass suicide during her stay in Georgetown she met [<span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">Stanley Clayton<\/span>], a black male, 5&#8217;8&#8243;, 150 pounds, black Afro, receding hairline, who advised her that he was an eyewitness to the mass suicide. [<span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">Louie<\/span>] stated that [<span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">Clayton<\/span>] told her that Mary Lee [Marilee] Bogue, white female, 18, 160 pounds, 5&#8217;6&#8243;, long brown hair, had assisted in administering (shots) to some of the victims.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #008000;\">[name deleted, either <\/span><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">Louie or Clayton<\/span>] stated that Odell Rhodes, black male, 30s, 5&#8217;7&#8243;, 160 pounds, black hair, currently at the Guyanese Hospital, had administered poison to some of the children at Jonestown.<\/p>\n<p>[<span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">Louie<\/span>] advised that the pension checks taken from the occupants of Jonestown were endorsed by two individuals who are as follows:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>Eugene Chaikon [Chaikin], white male, 5&#8217;6&#8243;, 125 pounds, late 40s, reddish brown hair, and Attorney in Georgetown<br \/>\nChuck Bikeman, previously described above<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>[<span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">Louie<\/span>] advised that she recalled that had been Reverend Jones dissatisfaction with Chaikon which prompted the first &#8220;white night&#8221;
