Subject: RYMUR<\/p>\n
Dick Blay, ASAC, Memphis, telephonically on 12\/8\/78 advised that Memphis Office had received a telephone call from an individual who indicated he had been contacted by a friend who wanted to talk to the FBI. This so-called friend had recently installed [one line of text deleted], either at Mark Lane\u2019s home or office. This individual saw some documents containing names of Peoples Temple and this individual in his own mind believed they were names of \u201cdangerous\u201d people. This individual may have also taken some papers.<\/p>\n
Blay questioned whether Lane may be using someone to set up the FBI and accepting information from anyone along this line. I told Blay the FBI was obligated to talk to this man if he came to the FBI to volunteer information. Michael Abbell, Departmental Attorney, U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ), was on \u201chold\u201d when Blay called in and I told Blay to hold and I would explain the scenario to Abbell. Abbell said the FBI should contact this individual, make arrangements to get facts, and if the individual took something from Lane\u2019s house, we should determine what, obtain facts, because it was his opinion this individual could have seen a danger type list indicating those people who could eventually attack other people. I told Abbell that we should contact the individual, find out details of what actually occurred, then have Memphis advise FBI HQ.<\/p>\n
Blay was apprised of Abbell\u2019s thoughts in this matter and they will contact this individual and advised by phone and sutel complete details.<\/p>\n
ACTION<\/u>:<\/p>\n
