Department Switzerland desk officer has informed us that Knut Royce, San Jose (California) Mercury News reporter, telephoned Department December 14 and indicated he had exclusive story to effect that Mark Lane and Charles Gerry [Garry], lawyers for Peoples Temple, and former Peoples Temple Treasurer Terry Buford are now in Switzerland, where Peoples Temple reportedly maintains account with Swiss Bank Corporation branch in town of Kriens (near Lucerne).<\/p>\n<p>2. Royce or other reporters may be in touch with PAO [Public Affairs Office] to try to confirm trio\u2019s presence. Agency\/Department would appreciate any information Embassy may develop.<\/p>\n<p>3.
