Information Concerning this Archived Site

Source: http://ruralpeople.atspace.org/ (Inactive)

This is the archive for the website for the Rural People’s Party, a political and communal group in South Carolina that formed in 2004 and that launched an online presence in 2007. Although it had no affiliation with members of Peoples Temple, it adopted a number of images and audio clips from the group, especially of its leader, Jim Jones. The group notably created the Sharon Amos Brigade, as a means to offer “opportunities for women to improve and apply themselves as individuals as a part of a greater collective consciousness.” The group became inactive around 2010.

In the interest of preserving the information from the Rural People’s Party website for future generations of Jonestown scholars and researchers, the managers of this site downloaded it in its entirety in 2023.

Central People's Commune of the Rural People's Party

It cannot be stressed enough to all comrades that we, as communists, stand against individualism and private property. Why not phrase this as "bourgeois individualism" or "bourgeois private property"? That is because there is no "proletarian individualism" to counter bourgeois individualism - this is because the proletariat shuns individualism and embraces collectivism. How does humanity go forward toward communism? If there is to be a real vanguard built, there must be practical steps taken and serious application of Juche-oriented organizational principles executed in the flesh on this soil. We have to smash the old and build the new and the responsibility lies squarely on our own shoulders.

We must have a physical infrastructure. We must have a practical organizational life that guards against bourgeois tendencies, because only with genuine communists can we struggle toward genuine communism. Existing in the belly of hegemonic U.S. imperialism we have to be hateful, we have to be clandestine, we have to be organized and we have to be willing to live under democratic centralism on the party and cell level. We must water the budding flower of communism living one amongst another, loving our comrades and rejecting the poison of the bourgeois.

All members of the RPP know that all members can live at party headquarters and build the emerging Central People's Commune under democratic centralism, making communism effectively the epicentre of their lives to which they are totally dedicated. Non-members are invited to contact the RPP and inquire as to visiting, prospective residence and communist study, criticism, self-criticism and thought reform at the Central People's Commune. As communists we must struggle to build up communism in reality and not simply on the cerebral level. If communism is to be struggled for then we must be willing to commit our entire lives to communism and criticize anything that is kept "outside" of communism, for that too must be absorbed and assimilated into our communist struggle if we all are to become part and parcel of a disciplined machine to smash the bourgeoisie for eternity. All glories to the collective!
