Remembrances

“Joel, or "JoJo," was the youngest of Christine Cobb Young's children. Joel was lovable, courteous always, and good as gold, either by nature or from growing up with an older sister or brother nearby at all times. His sisters Brenda Cobb, Sandy Cobb Jones, and Ava Jones, all lived in the San Francisco Temple as did Joel. Their room was a magnet, overflowing with energy, activity, children and teenagers. Christine and her children came out to Redwood Valley from Indianapolis in 1966 and were solidly involved, exemplary members, and if old enough, already in leadership roles in Peoples Temple when I first joined in 1970. Christine and Guy Young adopted Ramona Young, 8, who is also in the book. Fortunately for us all, three of Joel's siblings survived: Jim Cobb, Jr, Theresa "Terry" (dec'd. 2/13/2015), and John, and went on to live lives full of service, as did Christine's husband, Guy, and Ava's adopted daughter, Stephanie. ” - Kathryn Barbour
