“I Love And Miss you Mom. ” - Tyrone W Duncan

“Dear Aunt Verdella, There will never ever be another you. A trailblazer who established the first black beauty college in San Francisco, "Regina's Beauty College" I only regret I did not do as you instructed me at the age of 16 to get my cosmetology license and carry on your legacy. I always believe I would have you in my life for a long time. I certainly did not expect that October 1978, when we drove to Pomona and then went shopping for Regina's new baby that would be the last time I saw my SHERO. The one who sent people to find me after I ran away from home. Took me to Philadelphia to see The Father Divine Estate with Jim Jones. You tried to empower me with so much knowledge. For that I will always regret not being able to say, "Thank You". Your life was cut short before my eyes on a visit to Guyana. Auntie I must say I had a bad feeling when you did not come back with Uncle Walter. Be it as it may we loved you but God loved you more. As you would say on several occasions, "I'll bet you a dollar to a donut", that the women in heaven have their hair looking good, since the GREATEST COSMETOLOGY INSTRUCTOR is in their midst. I love you and miss you truly, Shirletha Holmes ” - Shirletha Holmes

“You were an early mentor, Miss Duncan. My first beautician. You took me to Macedonia to see James Meredith and offered me a scholarship to your beauty school. Bless you. I always defend Jonestown victims citing you as an example. I will never forget you. ” - rahimah lateef nee Patricia Mc Cutcheon
