Information Concerning this Archived Site

Source: http://www.mpwfoundation.org/ (Inactive)

This is the archive of the website for the Mary Pearl Willis Foundation, named after a member of Peoples Temple who died in Jonestown in 1978. Lela Howard, the niece of Ms. Willis, established the site in 2007 initially to pay tribute to her aunt and to document the efforts to identify the location of Ms. Willis' unmarked grave in a Louisiana graveyard. After a successful campaign to rebury her aunt, Ms. Howard then transformed the foundation into a source of financial assistance to low income families so that "unmarked graves are no longer an option." The foundation became inactive in 2009.

In the interest of preserving the information from the Mary Pearl Willis Foundation site for future generations of Jonestown scholars and researchers, the managers of this site obtained permission from Ms. Howard to archive this work in its entirety.

Personal Reflection~Affection 2

Sharon Inamoto, for giving me a love of nature and appreciation of its beauty.  Karen Francisco your beauty is more than skin deep.  God has been a miracle worker in your life and a testimony of his goodness.

Michael Cohan,  you are a knight in shining armor who made me believe in fairy tales, they do come true!

Andrae and Sandra, your music has inspired many, including me and provided a deep spiritual connection to our heavenly Father.  You have opened doors for me that I could have never imagined.  With all your success you have never been too busy to pick up the phone and say “hey Lela, how are you doing?”

Robbie Evans, you understood and listened!!!! Danny Thomas, you are a true warrior! Gwendolyn Taylor, we have been friends for two decades…that makes us officially family! Vicki Roker, what can I say? You are a warrior who made me believe in Right always prevails over Wrong! Our friendship is precious.  Your support has been incredibly heartfelt and sincere; there are few words I can say to properly thank you.

Felix, our friendship goes deep! You have given me a shoulder to lean on for years and I thank you for always listening.

Mother, Aunt Sadie, Bridgette, Cynthia, Brenda and Tahira, and the rest of my family thank you for your support and allowing me to share our pain with others in hopes of helping them to find a sense of relief.  We will Speak Her Name with PRIDE! If one person’s life is changed then it has all been worth it.

To my beloved son Christian, you are wise beyond your years.  You have wiped my tears, lifted me off the ground and have been my Rock and my Strength.  As a parent, it is my duty to educate you, but on several occasions it has been you teaching me life lessons.  This journey started with your simple question “mom, why do you always cry when aunt Pearl’s name is mentioned?” Together we have conquered and defeated, climbed many mountains and seen our share of God’s blessing.

Finally, aunt Pearl, your love was strong! Your love was pure! Your smile was bright! This is to honor your precious life.  When we meet in heaven you can answer my question, "did I make you proud?"
