Part 1
He says, as a man thinketh in his heart, so is he. In my heart, I don’t think. In my heart, I know I am the tabernacle of God Almighty!… For as I think in my heart, so am I (Proverbs 23:7: “For as he thinketh in his heart, so is he”)

I am healing the people! I’m bringing them together out of their racism! I’m curing them of their blindness, taking their cancers from their bodies, causing the crippled to walk, causing the lame to leap like a hart, causing them to dance for joy (Isaiah 35:4-6).

Thy kingdom come, I said, in the sonship degree. Thy will be done in earth as it is in heaven! (From the Lord’s Prayer, Matthew 6:9-13, spec. Matthew 6:10)

We want to glorify God by taking care of his little ones. Said, Suffer the little children to come unto me, for such is the kingdom of heaven. (Matthew 19:14, “Jesus said, Suffer little children, and forbid them not, to come unto me: for of such is the kingdom of heaven.” See also Mark 10:14, Luke 18:16)

You that would go out for those rascal preachers, and try to kill God’s prophets (ref. to Matthew 23:31-34; also, Luke 13:34, Romans 11:3, I Thessalonians 2:16).

You help those that are hungry. You help those that are naked. You clothe those that are in need, you take those in that are strangers. You feed the hungry. You minister to those that are sick and afflicted.… I’m feeding the hungry, clothing the naked, taking in the stranger! (Matthew 25:34-46)

If you live by the sword, you’re liable to find yourself dying by the sword (Matthew 26: 51-52: “And, behold, one of them which were with Jesus stretched out his hand, and drew his sword, and struck a servant of the high priest’s, and smote off his ear. Then said Jesus unto him, Put up again thy sword into his place: for all they that take the sword shall perish with the sword”).

The kingdom of heaven is here! Said, God is not afar off, but he’s at hand (ref. to Luke 21:29-31).

And if had not been for that which I am in the hundred-fold degree of consciousness … I’m not here in the thirty-fold. I’m not here in the sixty percent. But I’m here in the hundred-fold, one hundred percent God Almighty (ref. to Matthew 13:8, Matthew 13:23; Matthew 19:29; Mark 4:8; Mark 4:20, Mark 10:30; and Luke 8:8)

When you know the truth, the truth will set you free. … You shall know the truth, and the truth shall set you free (John 8:32, “And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.”).

Jesus said, for what good work do you stone me? It is written, ye are gods (John 10:32-35).

Because I said, I am in the Father, and the Father is in me (John 14:10-11, “Believest thou not that I am in the Father, and the Father in me? the words that I speak unto you I speak not of myself: but the Father that dwelleth in me, he doeth the works. Believe me that I am in the Father, and the Father in me: or else believe me for the very works’ sake.”).

For it is written that in the last days will kill, even kill you, thinking they do God a service (John 16:2, “They shall put you out of the synagogues: yea, the time cometh, that whosoever killeth you will think that he doeth God service.”).

All live together, holding all things in common and sharing in the true spirit of apostolic socialism (Acts 2, esp. Acts 2:44, “And all that believed were together, and had all things common.”)

No flesh shall glory in his presence. (1 Corinthians 1, esp. I Corinthians 1:29: “no flesh should glory in his presence.”)

I have come in the person of Christ – just as Paul, the apostle said. What you forgive, I forgive also, he said. Anything you bind, I bind also. And Paul said, I do it not in the name, but in the person of Jesus Christ (2 Corinthians 2:10: “To whom ye forgive any thing, I forgive also: for if I forgave any thing, to whom I forgave it, for your sakes forgave I it in the person of Christ.”).

The weapons of my warfare are not carnal, but they are mighty to the pulling-down of strongholds (2 Corinthians 10:4, “For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but mighty through God to the pulling down of strong holds”).

I have crucified my flesh, I am crucified with Christ, nevertheless I live, yet not I – Jim Jones – but Christ that lives in this body (Galatians 2:20, “I am crucified with Christ: nevertheless I live; yet not I, but Christ liveth in me: and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me, and gave himself for me.”).

It is written, he is able to do exceedingly, abundantly, above all that you are able to ask or think… Because, he said, he is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that you are able to ask or think. Have you ever been able to ask that you would be as God? To walk as God, to talk as God? The spirit of truth says he’s able to do exceedingly, abundantly, above all that you’re able to ask, or even to think (Ephesians 3:19-20, “And to know the love of Christ, which passeth knowledge, that ye might be filled with all the fulness of God. Now unto him that is able to do exceeding abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that worketh in us”).

I have inculcated the spirit and mind of God. I have let this mind be in me which you were told to do. I have let this mind be in me which was also in Christ Jesus, who being in the form of God, in the form of a servant, considered it not robbery to be equal with God. Though he was a slave, he said he was made perfect through the things that he suffered. He learned obedience through the death and mortification of the cross. And he said, in Philippians 2, for all of you to let this mind be in you. Well, I have. So if the mind is in me, then the body belongs to the body, the body belongs to the mind! So the mind is Christ, and the body is Christ, and God is addressing you at this point! (Philippians 2:5-8)

Pure religion undefiled before God is to minister to the orphans and widows in their affliction. (James 1:27, “Pure religion and undefiled before God and the Father is this, To visit the fatherless and widows in their affliction, and to keep himself unspotted from the world.”)

Part 2

I don’t see anybody gonna have to be left outside of the Ark of God’s covenant. No. (Ark of the Covenant in several places, including Genesis 6, Numbers 10, Numbers 14, and Deuteronomy 10:8).

Keturah was Abraham’s wife. Or was she his concubine? I’m just giving you just one paragraph, then I’m quittin’. Genesis 25:1: Then Abraham took a wife, and her name was Keturah. Took a wife, and her name was Keturah. Not according to First Chronicles 1:32. Keturah, Abraham’s concubine. His whore. Now, honey, there’s quite a difference between being a whore and a wife. I said, if you’re a wife, you’re not a concubine. If you’re a concubine, you’re not a wife. That means you’re a mistress! You’re a kept woman! (Genesis 25:1 contrasted with 1 Chronicles 1:32)

You have got an idol. You’ve got a graven image. And he said, have no graven images. This is a graven image. If you don’t have the spirit of this book, you are an idolatrous person. You are worshipping an idol, and not the spirit of God. The Bible’s not God, and you’d better find it out! The Bible’s not the Holy Ghost! (numerous references to proscription on graven images, especially in Pentateuch, including Exodus 20:4, “Thou shalt not make unto thee any graven image, or any likeness of any thing that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth.”)

The heavens were brass. (Deuteronomy 28:23, “And thy heaven that is over thy head shall be brass, and the earth that is under thee shall be iron.”)

Long deconstruction of Judges 1:19, “And the Lord was with Judah; and he drave out the inhabitants of the mountain; but could not drive out the inhabitants of the valley, because they had chariots of iron.”

Things that will turn children’s stomach. Like Jephthah, a prophet of God, was supposed to have made a covenant with God to win a battle at Aroer. Said, if I win this battle at Aroer, I will make sacrifice of the first one that comes through my door. Don’t tell me it’s not in the book. It’s in the book. And so Jephthah won the battle of Aroer, and he had to murder his daughter because she was the first one that came through the door. Two months she went about bemoaning her fate – according to King James – and after that, he kept the vow which he made unto Jehovah. And that meant, under Jewish law, he had to burn her alive. Now don’t tell me God approved of that. God is love! (Judges 11:29-39)

One place you’ve got the devil numbering Israel (1 Chron. 21:1 “And Satan stood up against Israel and provoked David to number Israel.”), and the other place it said God numbered Israel “2 Sam. 24:1 “And again the anger of the Lord was kindled against Israel, and he moved David against them to say, Go, number Israel and Judah.”).

I accept all races as one, there’s no respect of persons in God. I don’t acknowledge any color, or national difference. All are one in him… This feeling of concern for all living things, the feeling that God is not a respecter of persons (2 Chronicles 19:7, “Wherefore now let the fear of the LORD be upon you; take heed and do it: for there is no iniquity with the LORD our God, nor respect of persons, nor taking of gifts.” See also, James 2:1-4)

What kind of God do you think that is? Not my God! I’ve seen my God stop the rain! When the rains were falling. When they throwed us out of the building two years ago, we had no place. We didn’t have an aged home, didn’t have a convalescent home then, didn’t have anything, had nothing but a field. All winter long, the rains pour in northern California. But not a drop of rain fell on our heads. When the cars came up to our circle, they were rained on – it poured down on them – but no rain came on us. My God can cause the blind to see and the deaf to hear, and the lame to walk! (Isaiah 35:4-6)

Jesus said, he saw the travail of his soul and was satisfied (reference to Isaiah 53:11, “He shall see of the travail of his soul, and shall be satisfied: by his knowledge shall my righteous servant justify many; for he shall bear their iniquities.”).

If you look at the Bible, just at for instance Matthew 1:16 and Luke 3:23 and trace the genealogy of Jesus. Now if you’re very honest, you can’t help but admit what I’m saying’s true. If you trace the birth of Jesus, through Joseph, in Matthew the first chapter, and the sixteenth verse, and Luke the third chapter and the twenty-third verse, what do you find? One place Jesus’ father’s Joseph, and the other place it is also Joseph. But what about the grandfather? One place says his grandfather was Mathan. The other one says his grandfather was what? Matthat. M-a-t-t-h-a-t, as opposed to M-a-t-t-h-a-n (Matthew 1:15-16, “Matthan begat Jacob; And Jacob begat Joseph the husband of Mary, of whom was born Jesus, who is called Christ”; Luke 3:23-24, “And Jesus himself began to be about thirty years of age, being (as was supposed) the son of Joseph, which was the son of Heli, Which was the son of Matthat…”). But it gets even worse as you go on. You trace him on back to Abraham, and in one place he’s got fifteen more grandparents than he does in the other (Matthew 1:1-17, contrasted with Luke 3:23-28).

The dead letter doesn’t even know where Jesus went after he was born. One writer says he went into Egypt to flee from Herod. Another gospel writer – because King James has got it mixed up – said he stayed every year in Jerusalem and kept the feast of the Passover (Matthew 2 contrasted with Luke 2:41, “Now his parents went to Jerusalem every year at the feast of the passover.”).

When you don’t know what happened to Jesus when he was baptised with the Holy Ghost? One says he went where? To the wilderness, for forty days. Directly. The other one says that three days later he was over at Cana, Galilee, having a good time turning water into the wine. That’s eighty miles from the wilderness (Matthew 4:1-11, contrasted with John 1:29 – 2:11).

The Word of God is still proceeding out of the mouth of God… You don’t have to live by the letter. But you can live by every word that proceedeth from the mouth of God (Matthew 4:4, “It is written, Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of God.” See also, Deuteronomy 8:3.)

We are to be perfect, even as he and the heavenly father is perfect. The purpose is to be just exactly like God. To be miniature replicas of God Almighty in the earth. (Matthew 5:48, “Be ye therefore perfect, even as your Father which is in heaven is perfect.”)

Remember, dears, where your treasure is, there will your heart be also … because we don’t need any place but God to have our treasure (Matthew 6:20-21, esp. Matthew 6:21, “For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also.” See also Luke 12:34).

But when you love somebody into the church of God, you’ve got a savior. You’ve got somebody that cares. You’ve got somebody that’ll lose their life that they might find it (Matthew 10:39, “He that findeth his life shall lose it: and he that loseth his life for my sake shall find it.” See also, Matthew 16:25, Mark 8:35; Luke 9:24; Luke 17:33; and John 12:25).

If you are willing to do that, I think that you can– maybe not just have as precise a gift as I have in the hundred-fold manifestation, ‘cause there’s thirty-fold, sixty-fold, one hundred-fold realms in God.… Not everyone can be in the hundred-fold company immediately. We all come at varying times into our consciousness of Christ, but as in Adam, all die, so in Christ shall all be made alive. But every man after his own order … That’s what makes the hundred-fold come forth in you. Now some of you, who have been apostolic for years, you understand that there’s thirty-fold, sixty-fold, and a hundred-fold. Most churches content themselves only being thirty percent filled with God. That’s not enough God to get you through these times. Some are satisfied with sixty-fold – the Pentecostal experience, a little deeper. But that’s still only sixty percent God. And then some are pressing on to the prize and the mark of the high calling, which is in Christ Jesus: one hundred percent God (ref. to Matthew 13:8, Matthew 13:23; Matthew 19:29; Mark 4:8; Mark 4:20, Mark 10:30; and Luke 8:8).

And he heals the sick, and he raises the dead, and it cures the blinded eye, and it causes the crippled to walk, and the lame to leap like a hart (Matthew 15:30-32, Luke 7:21-22; see also Isaiah 35:4-5)

Self-denial. Said, if any man would come after me, let him first take up his cross, Jesus said, deny himself and take up his cross (Matthew 16:24, “Then said Jesus unto his disciples, If any man will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow me”).

I’m positive that I wouldn’t have this blessing, if I had not adopted eight children through the years. … He said, suffer the little children to come unto me, for such is the kingdom of heaven (Matthew 19:14, Mark 10:14, Luke 18:16)

Send each other to hell over they strain at a gnat and swallow a camel… you worried about little old puny things. You strain at gnats, and you swallow camels (Matthew 23:24-25, “Woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! for ye pay tithe of mint and anise and cummin, and have omitted the weightier matters of the law, judgment, mercy, and faith: these ought ye to have done, and not to leave the other undone. Ye blind guides, which strain at a gnat, and swallow a camel.”).

All you’ll see tomorrow when you go in is just organs and pianos. And pews. But no place for the hungry, no place to take care of the strangers. Matthew 25 told you how you could find him.… ’Cause Jesus said, if you want to find me, he said, I am hungry, and you didn’t feed me. I’m naked, and you didn’t clothe me. I’m a stranger, and you didn’t take me in. I’m sick in prison, and you did not come unto me. And those good churches trampers will say, when did we see you hungry? And he’ll say, well, I was hungry in an old apartment building in Seattle. I was a poor little child in the Appalachian mine country. I was a poor little black child in some ghetto, I was a poor little Indian child on a reservation, I was hungry, and you didn’t come to me. He said, in that you did it not unto the least of these, you did it not unto me… You’ll have to feed the hungry and clothe the naked, if you want to find your God. (Matthew 25:34-46).

He said, Lo, I am with you always even until the end of the world (Matthew 28:20, “…lo, I am with you always, even unto the end of the world. Amen.”).

Said, if it were not for the elect’s sake and the day is shortened, there would be no flesh saved. If the elect are some place up in the sky, why do the days have to be shortened for their sake? (Mark 13:19-20, “For in those days shall be affliction, such as was not from the beginning of the creation which God created unto this time, neither shall be. And except that the Lord had shortened those days, no flesh should be saved: but for the elect’s sake, whom he hath chosen, he hath shortened the days.”)

Said, you’ll know a tree by the fruit it bears. Not by what it believes, but what kind of fruit it bears. You know that tree by what fruit it bears (Luke 6:44, “For every tree is known by his own fruit.” See also, Matthew 12:33).

And he said, depart from me, you workers of iniquity. I never knew you. (Luke 13:27, “But he shall say, I tell you, I know you not whence ye are; depart from me, all ye workers of iniquity.”)

What do you think would happen to Seattle if each one of you said, I am the temple of God, and you went out to these dead churches and you went into the highways and hedges, and you went from hospital room to, uh, room, if you learn these sayings and get around and get some of this anointing I’ve got (Luke 14:23, “And the lord said unto the servant, Go out into the highways and hedges, and compel them to come in, that my house may be filled.”)

And God’s not a god that’s afar off, but at hand. Kingdom of heaven’s within you. (Luke 17:20-21, “The kingdom of God cometh not with observation: Neither shall they say, Lo here! or, lo there! for, behold, the kingdom of God is within you.”)

There’s two different mountains named in the Bible as to where Jesus ascended, and one impression is that he ascended from the Last Supper (According to The Letter Killeth, Christ ascended from four different places: From Bethany (Luke 24:50-51); From Mount Olivet (Acts 1:9,12); From Galilee (Matt 28:16-20); From a house in Jerusalem (Mark 16:14,19).)

The actual conscious presence of God is the Word. The Word was with God and the Word was God (John 1:1, “In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.”),
the Word of God is still being made flesh today. I am bringing the Word of God out of this body right here in this atmosphere today… the Word was made flesh. It’s never been taken out of the flesh. The Word has always been in the flesh! (John 1:14, “And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth.”),

Jesus come out of Nazareth. No good thing ever came out of Nazareth. No good thing ever came out of Nazareth (John 1:46, “And Nathanael said unto [Philip], Can there any good thing come out of Nazareth? Philip saith unto him, Come and see.”).

Truth sets you free… You shall know the truth, but the truth shall set you free. And you don’t want the truth, ‘cause you don’t wanna get free… Why don’t we get the truth in our hearts? It’s the truth that will set you free (John 8:32, “And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.”).

He said, if I be lifted up, I’ll draw all men unto me (John 12:31-32, “Now is the judgment of this world: now shall the prince of this world be cast out. And I, if I be lifted up from the earth, will draw all men unto me.”).

Bathe their feet (John 13)

If we have love, we are his disciples. He said, by this shall all men know that you are my disciples, because you have love one for another (John 13:34-35, “A new commandment I give unto you, That ye love one another; as I have loved you, that ye also love one another. By this shall all men know that ye are my disciples, if ye have love one to another.”).

I want you to take cognizance of my teachings. If you’ll take cognizance of my teachings, and listen to my sayings, you can reproduce a greater picture of me than even I am reproducing. Jesus said, These things shall you do and greater, because I go to the Father (John 14, 9-12, esp. John 9:12, “Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that believeth on me, the works that I do shall he do also; and greater works than these shall he do; because I go unto my Father.”).

For as I am, so shall you be, it is written (John 14:20, “At that day ye shall know that I am in my Father, and ye in me, and I in you.”).

You have to get inside you what’s inside of me. The Holy Ghost, the anointing. The comforter. The spirit of bravery. Comforter means, in the Hebrew, come-forte: with bravery (several references to the Comforter in John, esp. John 14:26, “But the Comforter, which is the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in my name, he shall teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you.”).

Said after the Holy Ghost has come, he’ll lead you and guide you through Romans and Thessalonians and Timothy. Was that what it said? That the Holy Ghost has come, he will lead and guide you through Corinthians. No! He didn’t say that! Said when the Holy Ghost is come, he’ll lead you and guide you into all truth! (John 16:13, “Howbeit when he, the Spirit of truth, is come, he will guide you into all truth: for he shall not speak of himself; but whatsoever he shall hear, that shall he speak: and he will shew you things to come.” See also John 14:17.)

Why, after Jesus was buried and put in the tomb, he wasn’t in the tomb – hmm? – just a matter of hours. And Mary come walkin’ out of the tomb, sorrowful and depressed in heart. Lowly in spirit. Depressed about the fact that they had laid her savior in the tomb. And she met a man by the way, the scripture says – didn’t it say it? She talked to this man by the way, and told him ‘bout how her savior’d been taken from her, and he was in the tomb. And Mary thought it was who? The Gardener. She said it was the gardener, but your Bible says it was Jesus Christ. He didn’t look the same, because Mary had been with him. (John 20:14-16)

Someone said to me, you got all you got in the book. Can’t do it. Jesus said – Jesus said – the following things in the last chapter of John. Jesus said, if all the things he had begun to both do and teach were written in the book, the world would not be able to contain the books. So all the works of Jesus is not in the Bible. The last chapter of Saint John proves that. All the sayings of Jesus is not in the Bible. All the actions of Jesus is not in the Bible (John 21: 24-25, “This is the disciple which testifieth of these things, and wrote these things: and we know that his testimony is true. And there are also many other things which Jesus did, the which, if they should be written every one, I suppose that even the world itself could not contain the books that should be written. Amen.” See also John 20:30-31.).

Jesus said, the heavens will contain him until the time of restitution of all things spoken by the prophet (Acts 3:20-21, “And he shall send Jesus Christ, which before was preached unto you: Whom the heaven must receive until the times of restitution of all things, which God hath spoken by the mouth of all his holy prophets since the world began.”).

I tell you that God through the scripture tells you that Cornelius was saved in his household. Was it not? God saved Cornelius in his household. The apostle said, this is a promise, that he’ll save you in your household. Let me tell you, if God would make that promise to that rich Greek and wouldn’t make it to you, he’d be guilty of discrimination. I’m here to tell you that God is gonna save you and your household (Acts 10).

What do we have to look to but the anointing? The Bible tells you that no man can call Jesus Christ except by the Holy Ghost, or the anointing. Christ, the Holy Ghost, the anointing, revolution, whatever word you want to speak of– That, that spirit, that’s the only way you can know what exists. You can’t know anything without the Holy Ghost (Acts 10:38, “God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Ghost and with power: who went about doing good, and healing all that were oppressed of the devil; for God was with him.”)

I personally believe you’re not gonna get raptured until you go through the tribulation, but that doesn’t make any difference one way or the other. Tribulation works with patience, patience experience, experience hope (Romans 5:2-4, “By whom also we have access by faith into this grace wherein we stand, and rejoice in hope of the glory of God. And not only so, but we glory in tribulations also: knowing that tribulation worketh patience; And patience, experience; and experience, hope.”).

And that we are to be, we who are predestined and preordained and who are in his foreknowledge are also preordained to become conformable to the image and likeness of the Son of God. We are to be like Christ in every way (Romans 6).

God’ll always have somebody speaking for him! He’ll have somebody that’s anointed! He’ll have manifested sons that will show his works (Romans 8)

Paul said, Don’t say in your heart, who shall ascend into heaven and bring him down and who shall descend into the deep and bring him up from the dead? But what sayeth it? The word is nigh thee, even in your mouth and in your heart!… I don’t look up to the sky to bring God down, I don’t go down to the deep to bring him up from the dead, I just let him come out from within me! (Romans 10: 6-8, “But the righteousness which is of faith speaketh on this wise, Say not in thine heart, Who shall ascend into heaven? (that is, to bring Christ down from above:) Or, Who shall descend into the deep? (that is, to bring up Christ again from the dead.) But what saith it? The word is nigh thee, even in thy mouth, and in thy heart: that is, the word of faith, which we preach.”)

That’s why you have to have the Holy Ghost to show you what’s true, and what’s error. That’s why I said, how can you hear without a preacher, how can he preach lest he be sent… How can you hear without a prophet, as it says originally, how can he prophesy lest he be sent… And I wish you’d quit trying to judge me by the dead letter, ‘cause the dead letter without someone such as I in the prophetic anointing, you cannot even hear without me. How can you hear without a preacher… How can you hear without a preacher, as I said… That’s why you can not hear without a preacher, and he can’t preach lest he be sent (Romans 10:14-15, “How then shall they call on him in whom they have not believed? and how shall they believe in him of whom they have not heard? and how shall they hear without a preacher? And how shall they preach, except they be sent?”).

Faith doesn’t come by reading, but faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God… , faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the Word of God (Romans 10:17, “So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.”).

He may take his time. It may be not in your time, but sooner or later every knee shall bow and every tongue shall confess of things on the earth, of things and above the earth, of things under the earth, and all shall acknowledge that he is God! (Romans 14:11-12, For it is written, As I live, saith the Lord, every knee shall bow to me, and every tongue shall confess to God. So then every one of us shall give account of himself to God.”)

It’s my responsibility to use those gifts that I have. Those aptitudes and callings are for the edification of the body of Christ, and it’s my duty to express my talents and gifts just as you are in responsibility to express your gifts and talents (Romans 15).

Where in the New Testament they ever have a building? They went to the house of Chloe and they went to the house of this one and the house of that one. They went from house to house breaking bread (1 Corinthians 1:10-11, “Now I beseech you, brethren, by the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that ye all speak the same thing, and that there be no divisions among you; but that ye be perfectly joined together in the same mind and in the same judgment. For it hath been declared unto me of you, my brethren, by them which are of the house of Chloe, that there are contentions among you.”).

Didn’t say you were saved by the foolishness of reading the Bible, it said you are saved by the foolishness of preaching… you are saved by preaching, and I have preached (1 Corinthians 1: 20-21, “Where is the wise? where is the scribe? where is the disputer of this world? hath not God made foolish the wisdom of this world? For after that in the wisdom of God the world by wisdom knew not God, it pleased God by the foolishness of preaching to save them that believe.”).

For I believe that no flesh shall glory in the presence of God (1 Corinthians 1:29).

The man or woman that you’re sitting under doesn’t have the gifts of the spirit, doesn’t have the fruits of the spirit, doesn’t love children, doesn’t take in the needy, doesn’t heal the sick, doesn’t minister to the needs of humanity, I’d get outta that church … I have all nine gifts, and I have each of the five-fold ministries manifested through me (1 Corinthians 12).

If we don’t become living epistles, read and known of all men, we are finished… Jesus said, we need living Bibles! He said, you are living epistles! Living Bibles! Read and known of all men! I am one with God. … I am a living epistle… And would deliver the world as a living Bible. That’s what he said: be living epistles, read and known of all men (2 Corinthians 3:1-3, “Do we begin again to commend ourselves? or need we, as some others, epistles of commendation to you, or letters of commendation from you? Ye are our epistle written in our hearts, known and read of all men: Forasmuch as ye are manifestly declared to be the epistle of Christ ministered by us, written not with ink, but with the Spirit of the living God; not in tables of stone, but in fleshy tables of the heart.”).

The letter killeth, Second Corinthians 3:6, says the letter kills. The Bible kills, in other words. Letter to Romans, letter to Corinthians. The Bible kills, but the Spirit. What is the Spirit of God? Love. Love maketh alive… you don’t need anybody just stand up reading to you out of the dead letter, because the Bible kills, but the spirit makes alive… the Bible – without the Spirit is the deadliest murderous weapon of all time. It’ll kill. Now, you don’t want to murder anybody. But this is what Second Corinthians 3:6 tells you: if you don’t have the Spirit, it’ll kill you. Now I know some of you have never heard that in your life, that the Bible was a murderer. (2 Corinthians 3:6, “Who also hath made us able ministers of the new testament; not of the letter, but of the spirit: for the letter killeth, but the spirit giveth life.”).

And it says, he will appear as an angel of light, in the Hebrew, that says he will camouflage as an angel of light (2 Corinthians 11:14, “Satan himself is transformed into an angel of light.”).

I want to cause you to jump out into the unfamiliar territory and go out by promise like Abraham did (Galatians 3)

If it’s a true church, it’ll take care of first the household of the faith (Galatians 6:10, “As we have therefore opportunity, let us do good unto all men, especially unto them who are of the household of faith.”).

I’m an apostle, I’m yet a pastor. I’m a teacher, I’m an evangelist, and I certainly am a prophet (Ephesians 4:8, 11, “Wherefore [Christ] saith, When he ascended up on high, he led captivity captive, and gave gifts unto men… And he gave some, apostles; and some, prophets; and some, evangelists; and some, pastors and teachers”).

There’s got to be a manifestation of the sons of God. If they’re not a manifestation of the sons of God we’re finished. … That’s why you have to have apostles, pastors, teachers, evangelists for the perfecting! Perfecting, did you hear me? For the perfecting of the saints! You’re not perfected by Bibles, you are perfected by the manifestation of the sons of God! That’s what will perfect you. (Ephesians 4:10-12).

He said, let this mind be in you which was also in Christ Jesus who, being in the form of God, considered it not robbery to be equal with God. That’s the mystery of which I have come to bring, to entertain your thoughts and aspirations, to enter into. Note what he said – to all of us – in Philippians 2, let this mind be in you which was also in Christ Jesus who, being in the form of a slave… But he said, who, being in the form of a slave, considered it not robbery to be equal with God. Why has the church neglected this marvellous truth? Go home and read that, study that, think of that. Jesus who, being in the form of a servant – that’s slave – considered it not robbery to be equal with God. That’s what you’ve gotta start thinking. Though you may be poor, though you may be the down-and-outs, though you may be the lowliest of low, you’ve got to say I consider it not robbery to be equal with God in every phase of my life (Philippians 2:5-8)

Gonna stir up the gifts by the laying on of hands and I’m gonna send them all, everywhere I can to stir up the people… To get you to see all the good that I might have, and get all the good that God has for you. I want to stir up every gift in you (2 Timothy 1, esp. 2 Timothy 1:6, “Wherefore I put thee in remembrance that thou stir up the gift of God, which is in thee by the putting on of my hands.”).

What is the word of God? Just gettin’ up and preachin’ about heaven? That’s not the word of God. The word of God’s what I did a while ago with the woman that’ve been told the intents and thoughts of their minds… What did it say, Hebrews 4:12 said the Word of God was? Said, it was sharper than two-edged sword, to the dividing the bone and the marrow… You saw the Word dividing the bone from the marrow, then the Word of God is a discerner of the thought, Hebrews 4:12 said, and it knows the intents of the heart.… Because it’s the word! It’s the Word that’s here. The Word that’s sharper than a two-edged sword. I am fulfilling Hebrews 4:12. (Hebrews 4:12, “For the word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any twoedged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.”).

I think it has begun, I think we’re right in the tribulation now, and I don’t think there’s gonna be any translation until we’re first perfected, ‘til we go through tribulation (Hebrews 10).

Abraham had only one son. Hebrews 11:17: by faith Abraham offered up Isaac, his only begotten son. Galatians 4:22: For it is written that Abraham had what? Two sons. (Hebrews 11:17 contrasted with Galatians 4:22)

I will not leave you nor forsake you, even unto the end of the world (Hebrews 13:5, “…for he hath said, I will never leave thee, nor forsake thee.”).

All good and perfect gifts come down from the Father above– lights, whom there’s no shadow of variableness nor turning. (James 1: 17, “Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and cometh down from the Father of lights, with whom is no variableness, neither shadow of turning.”)

The respect of persons is sin (James 2:9, “But if ye have respect to persons, ye commit sin, and are convinced of the law as transgressors.”).

It’s gonna have to be love that covers a multitude of sins (1 Peter 4:8, “And above all things have fervent charity among yourselves: for charity shall cover the multitude of sins.”).

Whosoever loveth is born of God (1 John 5:1, “Whosoever believeth that Jesus is the Christ is born of God: and every one that loveth him that begat loveth him also that is begotten of him.”)

The colleges are defeating the faith that was once delivered to the saints (Jude 1:3, “Beloved, when I gave all diligence to write unto you of the common salvation, it was needful for me to write unto you, and exhort you that ye should earnestly contend for the faith which was once delivered unto the saints.”).

Having a form of God in this denying the power, rich increased of goods and needing nothing (Revelation 3:17, “Because thou sayest, I am rich, and increased with goods, and have need of nothing; and knowest not that thou art wretched, and miserable, and poor, and blind, and naked:”).

Summary:

(This tape was transcribed by Kristian Klippenstein. The editors gratefully acknowledge his invaluable assistance.)

This tape comprises two sermons delivered by Jim Jones in 1972, the first to his followers in the Redwood Valley Temple and the second to a congregation of people who aren’t familiar with him in Seattle during one of the Temple’s bus trips outside of California. While both sermons include numerous biblical references – some specified, most in context – Part 2 of this tape offer much more of an introduction to Jones’ reflections on his background, religious beliefs, and the role of the Temple and of himself as true representatives of the Christian faith.

Jones’ principal role in the Seattle segment seems one of stripping the churchgoers of their fundamental underpinnings – that of the Bible itself – as the foundation of their faith, and replacing it with the beliefs of the Temple. To that end, if there is in fact a text from which he is working, it is the booklet, The Letter Killeth, which highlights the inconsistencies and errors as well as the cruelties and socially-deviant practices contained in the Bible. He alternately describes it as a dead letter and as a graven image, the very concepts which the Bible criticizes. Moreover, the king of the King James Version of the bible was a despot and a drunkard and a whoremonger and an enslaver.

Instead of the Bible to provide them guidance, he offer himself as the preacher who will not only give them knowledge of Christianity but will tell them the whole truth, and his authority for doing so is the Bible itself. They cannot learn about faith by reading but only by hearing it (it says so in the Bible), a preacher cannot preach unless he is sent (it says so in the Bible), and the true word is carried forward by those who are living epistles (it says so in the Bible).

With that as a backdrop, he offers biblical authority for the work of the Temple: their efforts to feed the hungry and provide housing and the medical care for the elderly comes straight out of the Gospel of Matthew.

As for himself, “I’m living Christianity… It’s what I live! While you’re preaching Christ, I’m going about, from city to city, living Christ in deeds and actions! I’m letting Christ have a body!” The Bible speaks of those who live thirty percent or sixty percent in Christ, and of himself, who lives in the hundred-fold degree of consciousness. “That’s what Jesus came to make you realize. And that we are to be, we who are predestined and preordained and who are in his foreknowledge are also preordained to become conformable to the image and likeness of the Son of God. We are to be like Christ in every way.”

The first part of the tape includes a portion of an address that is more familiar to members of the Temple. If he calls after those who leave during the Seattle sermon, he is much more focused in the other part of the tape on those who would disrupt Temple services or – worse – would try to silence him through assassination. But it hasn’t worked, for as he reminds everyone,

The people saw a weapon being discharged. It went right into my chest. Three holes. The nursing personnel put their fingers in it, big as an index finger. But I did not even bother to rest. I got on my feet instantly, and healed the sick, stopped an epileptic seizure on a word of command, and counselled all night long.

For that reason, any would-be assassin would be advised to put their gun away.

Jones does express appreciation to his followers in this portion of the tape. “I am grateful indeed for all of you who have come out. For you that are black who have emancipated yourself from the old store-bought religion, that has been purchased and sold to you to keep you in misery and oppression.” As for his white followers, he declares that they “are the only ones that love God.”

The message which he repeats several times on this tape, however, is that people who receive a healing on their first visit cannot expect it to last forever. While it is true that no member of the church has died – “I have not held a funeral in so long I cannot remember. It’s truly wonderful!… I have conducted the funeral of no one who knew the mind of Christ that is in me.” – it is also true that he is speaking only of those who have committed themselves to the Temple. “You can’t get healed in one meeting only. And if you do you better come back and get the truth, because you won’t stay healed.”
