Jones: Let’s clasp our hands. To (Unintelligible word) again the work of the Holy Ghost. (glossolalia)

Tape edit

Jones: You know, our minds– they are or they may be entirely under our own control. You can let this mind be in you, which was in Christ Jesus, who being in the form of God, considered it not robbery to be equal with God. We may permit to enter and remain in our minds only the thoughts as we choose. We have the power to drop out of our mind all discordant, inharmonious or fearful thoughts, just as we have the power to drop from our hands a hot iron or some other undesirable substance that we do not care to retain. Now for a moment, let the Christ mind come forth. We don’t meditate here often, but our meditation therapy can be extremely helpful. Go back into your consciousness and think of the most refreshing water you’ve ever seen flowing – a rippling brook or a cool stream or a falls coming over a cliff – and just imagine your mind being cleansed. Cleansed from the self. Cleansed from your worries and your fears. Forget all things which are behind, everything that’s been done to you – there’s no use to remember it – and for a moment, just remember everything that is true. Whatsoever things are honest. Whatsoever things are just. Whatsoever things are pure. Whatsoever things are lovely. Whatsoever things are of good report. If there be any virtue and if there be any praise, think on these. Think on the lovely children, that you have their health. Think on the companion that has been faithful. Think on the blessings of food that you were able to eat today, when not so many miles away, people are starving to death. And as you think on your abundance, it’ll cause you to think more about doing something about those that don’t have.

Yes, my children, forget those things which are behind. Let the Holy Ghost wash out all the hurts, wash away the images you hold of people. They cannot grow. Your loved ones cannot grow because you hold them in a certain image. Let the Spirit wash it away. And now, let the mind of Christ resurrect within you the mind that is God, and feel that gushing energy, that life-force, that illumination, that water-like remission that’s moving through your mind, (voice climbs) cleansing it, cleansing out the cobwebs in the name of Jesus. Just send that same power that’s now in you, send it down to every troubled organ. Send it to the heart and say, heart, you’re going to beat more soundly. Just visualize a good heart, see rich, red blood, rich, red tissues, a great pumping organ and say, I’m blessing you, heart. I love you in the name of Jesus, and I bless my heart. I bless my stomach. I bless every n– aching knee, every joint, all those old bones and marrow, I bless them with the stream of God’s love, I let it flow (Ministerial rises and falls) down into every joint and every marrow of my bodily form. (glossolalia) For I’m hid with Christ in God. I’m made in his image. Once you recognize that truth, that there is involved in each of us all the wonderful possibilities of the infinite, just as the possibilities of the oak and the forest are involved in the acorn, then we shall take pleasure in the fact, to make it the business of our lives to evolve our characters into the likeness, into the image and likeness of God Almighty. Let his image and likeness come forth in you. He said, if you keep my sayings, you shall live. I have come to give you life and life more abundantly now in the abundance of God’s presence. (glossolalia) I affirm peace and power, poise and purity, prosperity and blessings, health, yes, plenty to every joint, to every cell, to every sinew, to every part of my bodily form, to every part of my psychological and physiological and mental form, ‘cause I know God who’s able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that I am able to ask or to think. Just take time for a moment to affirm in your silence, in your silence speak the word, speak the word to whatever troubled organ you have. Speak the word to the troubled worlds of finances. Say, I overcome because the Christ is in me. I’m the Temple of the Holy Ghost, the Spirit of the living God dwells in me and I can do all things through Christ that strengtheneth me. (glossolalia)

Out in the world through the therapies, they give themselves anesthesia through just suggestion of a surgeon. They don’t have to have any anesthesia, no painkillers for surgery. Women are able to take a suggestion and cause their breasts to grow, according to Time magazine and Newsweek, to grow the shape they want, for their vain and worldly pleasure. How much more can you visualize a good heart? See it right now! See it pumping good blich [rich] blood. How more can you see your brain, and say I cleanse it from the cholesterol and the impediments, all the sickening cholesterol that’s blocking the passage of the rich blood that’s harmonizing throughout all my body! For I have the mind of Christ and my body, my body is the church of God! My body is the Temple of the Holy Ghost! (glossolalia) Great God Almighty. Great God Almighty, your m– organs now should be functioning better. You’ll be feeling the response worthy that you’ve desired, if you’ve entered into this with a real holiness of heart. If you’ve desired with earnestness that the Holy Spirit has filled you with the vibrations and illuminated your mind with harmony, wisdom and love, while in this little conference that we’ve had, then God has come forth. He’s come forth in your temple and you feel richer, and he’ll take the pain away from your body. Just put your hand, because your hand’s anointed with God’s presence, just put your hand on your body and say in the name of Jesus, I heal my body! In the name of Jesus. My God Almighty. (glossolalia)

Congregation: (Scattered response) (Organ and piano play softly)

Jones: (Clears throat) Mmm– That’s what I’m here. Some have come for various reasons, but I have come here, sit right down here amongst you on this barber chair. Some are trying to ignore this supernatural presence, but I have come to show you God is within you because God is within me! We are sick because we discern not the Lord’s body. You’re trying to ignore God’s omniscience and omnipresence. Just recognize him. He lifted me up when I was shot down. The nurses and medical people put their fingers in my chest and said I couldn’t live, but I said this is the body of God!

Congregation: (Scattered response)

Jones: And I affirmed that I should live, and I stepped up at Sunday night last August and preached all night and counseled all night! Raised people up from their diseases, healed one of our young men, brother Joe Helle, of a epileptic seizure because I knew that my body was God’s. (Voice quietens, then rises) Yes, it’s God’s. You cannot ignore it. When they hit me with the truck because their racist hatred, and they said my right leg would never move, you seen me jump off this platform time and again. I can run. The youngsters, even the best football players keepin’ up with me last night as I run around the blocks. There’s not a– not a thing wrong with any joint in my body, because I refuse to accept what man said, and I saw my body as a Temple of the Holy Ghost! (Voice quietens, then rises) Yes, it’s all right. You can’t ignore God’s presence, and you will recognize it if you’re in God. (Pause) (Quietens) Yes, God Almighty. He said you’d never be without a temple, so you’re his temple because I’m his temple. I know what it is to go through death. I know what it is, seventeen years ago when Dr. O’Thomas said I had to die with cancer. (Voice climbs throughout) I said this is the Temple of the Holy Ghost. I’ve got a black child [Jim Jones, Jr.] I wanted to adopt. I’ve got children I want to rear. I had an Indian child I wanted to grow up. I said all these babies, I didn’t bring ‘em to the world to leave them fatherless, and so I said doctor, give me another test. He wouldn’t let me out. He told my wife [Marceline Jones], who’s a registered nurse, to expect me to die. I said, put those tubes down again and you’ll find the hydrochloric acid is there. Take those x-rays again and he said (cries out) it’s amazing!

Congregation: (Scattered response)

Jones: He said, the acid’s flowing– The– the– all that thickening that was an inch thick around your stomach wall is (cries out) gone! He said the cancer’s (cries out) gone! Because I saw my body, my body as a Temple of the Holy Ghost. I want you to learn a little bit from me. (Ministerial cadence) If you want to see God, you can see God! He’s able to do exceedingly, abundantly above all that you able to ask or think. Have you ever asked to see God? Well, I’m here to tell ya, blessed are the pure in heart! Blessed are the pure in heart! Blessed are the pure in heart! For they shall see God. Oh yes. (Conversational tone) You either believe God or you don’t. He said he’s able to do exceedingly, abundantly above all that you’re able to ask or to think. Many times you’ve said I’d like to see Jesus. I’ve heard about him. I’d like to see him walk again. I’ve heard of the great miracles of the apostles of old. I’d like to be back there where the dead could rise. This past year – less than a year’s gone by – and fifteen have been raised from the dead right in our meetings. You’ve seen the dead raised. And Sister Henry who came here, we took her up to our home from Los Angeles – right back there – she was in our senior citizen home. But before that she was in a home, she was dying. She left the– the total loss of pulse and respirations, but the Spirit showed me where she was.

Congregation: (Scattered response)

Jones: And people in this home down here, had lost the number, but the Spirit showed me where she was, and a phone was put to her ear and she was raised up, right on the floor, brought back to life. But fifteen– she wasn’t one in the public meeting, I’m talkin’ about fifteen. Here’s two of ‘em right on the front row, two that’ve been brought back from the dead. And you saw the same Spirit reach out and say, come back, come back from the dead, come back from the dead, and they come up from the dead. Just on Tuesday night you saw it happen again. Whatcha talkin’ about? He said he’s (sings word) a-ble– he’s (sings word) a-ble– he’s (sings word) a-ble. Ah, yes. (Pause) The Spirit of your Father that speaketh in you. It’s the Spirit of your Father. It’s the Spirit of God that speaketh to you today. These things I cannot do of myself. But I have heard the Spirit speak and I expressly exonerate and reveal that which the Holy Ghost is doing. Blessings. (glossolalia)

Congregation: (Scattered response)

Jones: If I had not come this morning, and some of you had not demonstrated the Spirit of God, those had not been called out and healed, like this brother– the cancerous, bloody mass you saw him pass when they went in and saved his loved ones, saved even one across the seas (tape distorts) as I remember, across the seas. Even though a stranger to me, he said the Word of God, the Word of God is sharper than a two-edged sword, it’s a discerner of the thought and the intents of the heart. The Word of God’s not written, because King James, the King of England, who sent the Good Ship Jesus to bring back slaves, he’s the last one that wrote the word, for the letter then kills but the Spirit maketh alive.

Congregation: (Scattered response) (organ/piano music starts playing)

Jones: But, oh, the Word of God. The Word of God that said that I’ll be with you always, even unto the end of the world. That Word of God reached out here this morning and reached out last night, growth after growth, reached out to woman for twelve and a half years, crippled, she come down the aisles! Couldn’t hardly move– Come– Couldn’t get out of her seat alone, but the Spirit got her that high, and then somebody interfered, but I said keep comin’, sister, because I command you to keep comin’, and before she finished, you all saw her, she was runnin’! She was runnin’! (Ministerial cadence and singing) Twelve and a half years– twelve and a half years, she hadn’t been able to walk. Twelve and half years after a terrible automobile accident. Twelve and half years that her hip had been crushed and they couldn’t even set it back. A woman in her advanced seventies. But she (cries out) run like a new woman, and ten people come out of wheelchairs, just like a snap of the finger, they came walkin’ out of their wheelchairs. What’cha talkin’ about? This is that, this is that which was spoken by the prophet Joel. This is that– this is that, my child (sings), this is that. I come to show you that God’s no longer invisible, but he’s real– I said he’s real.

Congregation: (Scattered response and applause)

Jones: He would’ve been dormant, he would’ve been dormant if I had not come to some of you this morning. That man would’ve had to lay in that chair that I saw him. Don’t– though he was a stranger to me, he’d had to lay in that chair and die when that cancer caused him to hemorrhage. He’d had to (cries out) die, but God would’ve been dormant to him, but I came on the wings of the morning in Los Angeles, in the name of Jesus. I came in the name of Jesus, I lifted up the name of Jesus, I glorified the name of Jesus. Oh yes. And God’s no longer invisible. God is no longer visible but the (draws out word) Word, the Word is made flesh and dwells amongst (draws out word) us. Some of you know the Word is made flesh. I said, some of you know what I’m talkin’ about, and the more you recognize of God, the more God will be reproduced in you, for I have come, not as thirty percent, not as sixtyfold, but I have come as a hundredfold, I have come in the dispensation of the fullness of time, I have come as the essence of truth, and I presented my body as my reasonable sacrifice, wholly acceptable under God, and now it’s a hundredfold, it’s a hundredfold. One hundred percent God Almighty God! (Pause) (Calms, then voice slowly picks up ministerial cadence) Hallelujah. Spirit of God, and not another. God’s here! The great God, the great I am, the ancient of days, the everlasting Father, the alpha and omega, the beginning and the ending. The same God that walked with Moses, the same God that Solomon said, they saw him! Said I saw the color of his hair, and Isaiah said, 7:20, after that day he will shave with a razor. The same God! The same God and not another. He’s walkin’ right here. He’s movin’ right in our bodies, because we’re the Temples of the Holy Ghost. I said I come to show you that you’re the Temples of the Holy Ghost.

Jesus said– said, by what authority do you do these things? I do it by the authority that God is livin’ in me, that I have come in my Father’s name. I have heard the words of Jesus. He said be one, even as I and my Father are one. I’m living in the oneness of God. I’m standing here in the name of Jesus. I’ve lifted up the standard of Jesus, and I speak in the authority of Jesus, and I can heal you, I can raise you from the dead. He said whatsoever I bind shall be bound, whatsoever I loose shall be loosed. (Calms) Paul said, one place he said, forgive them their sins. As you forgive them, I forgive them also. And he said, I forgive you in the person. Don’t think that’s in the book? You go read it. It’s in the book. Look up “person.” I forgive you in the person, he said, of Jesus Christ. Because the person was living in him.

Voice in crowd: Yeah!

Jones: You see, (Unintelligible word)– This is the marvelous mystery of Christ in you, the hope of glory. I’ve told you that you can be the Temple of God. I’ve told you that you are the bishop of your salvation, for God’s on the throne of your heart. I come sleepin’ on the floor of this stage, just like I do every night. Don’t own a car. Don’t own any clothes. Same clothes you see under these used choir robes. I come adopting eight children [Jim Jones, Jr., Agnes Jones, Lew Jones, Stephanie Jones, Suzanne Jones]. I come without any new furniture, don’t own a home, don’t own a car. I come tellin’ you, as the poorest among many men, that you can be rich. (Cries out) Oh yes, you can be rich. (Tape edit) No matter what you wanna bargain for, when I come along, you get Jesus. Come along feedin’ the hungry. Takin’ their most hardship cases right outta here that’ve been on drugs. Takin’ the older people that had no homes right outta Los Angeles, and give them quiet resting places. I’ve identified with (tape distortion, edit)– I decided there was nothin’ in Jim Jones worth livin’, so I let Christ live in me. Christ is livin’ in this body. One hundred percent. Why be content (tape distortion) for thirty percent, sixty percent–

Tape silence for several moments. No music when tape resumes.

Jones: God is living in this tabernacle. Christ is in me, as he is in you.

Congregation: (Scattered cheers)

Jones: (Voice rises throughout) And it’s as much personafiable as you wish it to be. You can have thirty percent God, sixty percent God or one-hundred fold if you want to be. You can be one hundred percent yielded to God Almighty. You can be crucified with Christ, nevertheless you will live, yet not you, but Christ that liveth in you! That makes you one-hundred percent God Almighty! (Voice quietens, then rises throughout) That’s the marvelous message of the Unitarian concept of the Godhead, that God is one and that he is the oneness and that the fullness of the Godhead bodily dwelleth in us, that the same Jesus is in us. Paul wanted us to get that message in second Corinthians, the tenth verse in the se– second chapter where he said, uh, what you forgive, I forgive. I forgive it also. Whatsoever you bind, I bind. I do it, in the name? No. He said I do it in the person of Christ! I have reincarnated the very personality! I’m in the first person! I’m speaking in the “I am” consciousness! I’m speaking with the Word in me!

Congregation: (Scattered cheers)

Jones: Now you can speak as a servant, or you can be as a friend, Jesus said, you can be a teacher and have a teacher’s reward, you can see God manifest through your brother and sister in varying degrees of consciousness, but what you see is what you get.

Congregation: (Laughter)

Jones: If you see me– if you see me as just an ordinary friend, I’ll be the best friend in the world. Someone through the Valley dropped in dogs yesterday, I took them all in. I’m a friend of every dog, a friend of every human, I’ve adopted eight children, whatever you bring me, I will be a friend to you. But a friend cannot raise the dead. I’ll be a friend, but a friend cannot cause the cancers that came out – like Sister Andrews right out of her throat – here on the altar not so long ago.

Congregation: (Response)

Jones: A friend cannot bring that out! A friend might want to, but a friend can’t! But when you–

Tape silence for several seconds.

Jones: (Voice climbs throughout)  You see, this apostolic ministry that is req– absolutely requisite for the perfection of the saints, apostles, pastors, teachers, evangelists which are necessary for the perfecting of the saints, you can’t be perfected through the reading of the Word, you cannot be perfected by anything but by the hearing of the Word, faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the Word of God and the Word is sharper than a two-edged sword and what does it do? It discerns the thoughts and knows the intents of the heart. And in every meeting for twenty-some years, I have been discerning the thoughts of the mind and knowing the intents of the heart, because the Word is now made flesh and dwells amongst us, Christ in us, the hope of glory!

Congregation: (Response)

Jones: (Calls out) I’m letting God have his way, and the more you see God in me and in one another, the more you’re gonna reproduce God in yourself!

Congregation: (Response)

Jones: (Voice moderates) I don’t mind what you call me. You can call me that old hillbilly if you want to, but I’ll just be a hillbilly to you. Be a friendly hillbilly. Be a kind hillbilly, ‘cause I was born in the hills. Proud of it. I found nothing in the– in the so-called sedated valleys and sophisticated valleys that make me ever sorry that I was born in the hills. I’m glad for the shanty background. I learned a lot of things uh– I met God, I’ll tell ya, I had to meet God, some of you’ve met God more quickly if you hadna had so much ease. When I had to go to the bathroom, I had to walk half mile, back then you’d feel the winds in many places.

Congregation: (Response)

Jones: You’d feel the chill of the night air, and you’d better find God someplace, or you wouldn’t live!

Congregation: (Response)

Jones: So I learned to find God in those places. When you had to go over the hill a mile to carry your water, you had a lot of time to think about God! You had a lot of time to consider all the power that’s in the mind of the Christ. We got so much today. We got to where we’re lazy! Push a button for this and we are all– we’re programmed from supper into the lounge and the lounge to TV. That’s why I never would’ve bought one. I never would buy a TV because it programizes you! You just build in to a malfunctioning sed– sedentary life where you don’t use your muscles, and your muscles atrophy, and you don’t use your mind even. They’ll brainwash you even from the central station. I want this mind to be in me.

Congregation: (Response)

Jones: Sunday morning that woman in her desperation, I walk back and I said, Jim Jones is here, and I said arise! (Voice rises) I said arise and you saw her arise because in my heart, I haven’t filled it with a lot of foolishness of the world. I have let this mind be in me which was also in Christ Jesus who being in the form of God considered it not robbery (voice moderates) to be equal with God Almighty.

Congregation: (Response)

Jones: (Voice moderates) And you saw her in the crowd of thousands, you saw her come up and dance for twenty minutes. Women don’t dance that way when their heart afflicted from childbirth, dance and jump and dance and jump. Your ordinary doctors would say, don’t let her do that. She had no pulse, no respirations. But she kept dancin’ because she’d met Christ.

Congregation: (Response)

Jones: (Calls out) Once you have seen the embodiment of the oneness of God, once you know that Jesus is God and that he is reincarnatable. He said these things shall you do and greater. That means what he was, you can be and greater!

Congregation: (Response)

Jones: Not just the same, not to just grovel around a throne and beg to some big daddy in the sky, but he said, these things shall ye be and greater!

Congregation: (Response)

Jones: Once you have known the embodiment and incarnation of the Divine Word, don’t you be satisfied for anything else but the Word made flesh (voice quietens) dwelling amongst you.

Congregation: (Response)

Jones: (Voice climbs) That’s the glory of oneness. Not that Jesus is God up in the throne, but that Jesus has become God and God dwelleth in us, m– and he is mighty the same! (Pause) (Quietens, then builds) That’s the great mystery. It’s been withheld from ages past but now revealed to the children of men in these l– last days of time, that he’s going to pour out his Spirit on all flesh. His sons and daughters are gonna prophesy. I’m gonna bring many sons unto glory, sayeth God. The captain of our salvation was made perfect through the things he suffered. He was human of human. Born in a manger. Born when they said Abraham is our father, but what is– who is your father? Yes, he was born without a place to lay his head. The foxes had dens and the birds had nests, but he had no place to rest his head, yet he said I considered not robbery to be equal with God Almighty!

Congregation: (Response)

Jones: (Moderates, then builds to cry) Some said he come down here already made. He said he learned obedience. That means he had to grow. He was made perfect. That means he wasn’t perfect, he had to be made conformable, to the image, to the death of the cross. Jesus was flesh of your flesh and bone of your bone. That’s what makes God so marvelous. We have seen him in a lowly working carpenter, we have seen him in the work of the law, we have seen Jesus made flesh. Our God is made flesh and dwells amongst us.

Congregation: (Response)

Jones: (Voice moderates) That’s what makes it mighty and heavenly. That’s what makes it salvation to be praised. These people out there in Trinitarianism, they see God out there as three personalit– (Tape edit) (Voice quietens, then climbs) He suffered. Made perfect through sufferings. But the thing I’m so glad, I heard him say, the captain of our salvation is bringing many sons under glory! I’m glad I heard him say that he is the first born of many brethren!

Congregation: (Response)

Jones: That there’re many gonna be like him, a multitude is gonna come forth in the land just like (emphatic) Jesus!

Congregation: (Response)

Jones: They’re gonna beat the swords into plowshares and study war no more.

Congregation: (Response)

Jones: (Cries out) I’m so glad that my God is not out there for me to fly to, he’s not out in the heavens for me to ascend to. He’s not in the deep for me to descend to, but the righteousness which is the faith sayeth he’s in thine heart and in thy mouth that (stretches out word) God is in me!

Congregation: (Response)

Jones: (Unintelligible word) to God! (Voice drops slightly, then resumes climb) I’m glad I found my God and he’s Principle. He’s love, and love is exemplified in Acts of the Apostles in pure sharing, the pure Socialism that would solve all problems of today, would stop communism, stop fascism. God is the Principle and his Principle is reincarnatable, and that Principle has transmitted this valley, when they just used to beat on people because they were Okies or black or because they were Indian. Now, acres have been taken over. Forty acres of children home, three senior citizen home. (Cries out) The knowledge of God is coverin’ the earth as the waters cover the sea!

Congregation: (Response)

Jones: (Cries out) For God is love and is just and powerful and mighty to see. (Pause) It’s good to know your God! To know him (unintelligible word), to know he’s not a God that a far off, but he’s a God that is at hand! Hallelujah–

Congregation: (Response)

Jones: I don’t know what I’d do if I worshipped that God that some people have. I have to have my God within me!

Congregation: (Response)

Jones: (Cries out) If I didn’t see the fruit of his handiwork, if I didn’t see the dead raised, I couldn’t live this day, if I didn’t see the hungry fed and the poor have the gospel preached to them, if I didn’t see the healed sicked– The healing of the sick and the resurrections and restorations. Why, I could not live. People stand out there gloomy-eyed, druggy-eyed, droopy-eyed, sayin’ by and by. By and by. (In full throat) I’m tired of by and by! Today is the day of salvation! Jesus is come!

Congregation: (Response)

Jones: (Voice moderates) I’m glad in that Arkansas background and the Indian shanty that I took that mixture of the poorest among men. Being what they said, a poor southern Arkie and a poor s– Indian, I being among the poorest of men along with Jesus, have decided that Heaven can be established in the (voice calms) lives and the affairs of men. (Voice rises) And as he said being the poorest among men, I have made many rich. That’s the key. Letting self be poured out, being crucified, being self-denied, and then God takes up Tabernacle,. That’s the Principle, that’s why I love Jesus. My God, he is the hope! He is the way! He is the truth! He is the life! He is the door, and if you open up the door! You enter into the great powers of the universe!

Congregation: (Response)

Jones: These people want somebody to do somethin’ for them. Jesus never did somethin’ for people. He showed you how to do it for yourself! He said, what’s within you? Thy faith has made you whole. He didn’t direct it to him, he said it’s in you! (glossolalia) That’s the glory of Jesus. (Cries out) That’s why I’m glad I’d like to have on this place Jesus is God. I’d like to have it all over! He’s so wonderful! They say do you love the name of Jesus? My God, do I love it? I loved it so much that I died and let him live in this body!

Congregation: (Response)

Jones: (voice moderates, then builds) No one loves the name of Jesus more than we love the name of Jesus in this assembly. (short laugh) It was Christ in me and not another, when seventeen years ago Doctor O’Thomas said I must die of cancer, and prepared my wife, surgical nursing supervisor, for death. It was Christ in me and not another. I said there’s within me, the kingdom, the kingdom of heaven is within you. And I and Sister [Eva] Pugh can attest, our treasurer, I said I’m comin’ out! ‘Cause Christ didn’t come to give me death, he came to give me life!

Congregation: (Response)

Jones: And if I’d lost, I couldna been any worse off. I was skin and bones. I couldn’t keep anything on my stomach, they had tubes down my nose. There wasn’t anything for me to lose. I had everything to gain. I stood on my feet and said (in full throat) this is the body! This is the Temple of the Holy Ghost! And for seventeen years, I have been showing you that you also are the Temple of the Holy Ghost.

Congregation: (Response)

Jones: (low but intense, then builds) They want to keep you by false promises that Jesus is someplace in the sky. While the lyin’ preachers are tellin’ you that, they’re swif– they’re swiffin’ around in their Cadillacs and Continentals, livin’ high on the hog, tellin’ you to get ready to meet him. They don’t look like they’re gettin’ ready to meet ‘im. They don’t look like they’re gettin’ ready to go anywhere but to drive down the road on those nice wheels.

Congregation: (Response)

Jones: They look like they’re going to stay a long time in their nice homes, but I come in used choir robes. I come in old work clothes under here. I got one pair of pants but that pair of pants is all I need because (in full throat) God is my armament! God is my shield! God is my salvation! God is my clothing! God is my covering! God is my deliverance!

Congregation: (Response)

Jones: (Voice quietens, then builds) I’ll tell ya what do I need with Cadillacs. What do I need with treasure houses of this earth, ‘cause I got a treasure that is hid. The world does not give and the world cannot take away. So glad to know God Almighty! So glad to recognize God Almighty! So glad that this body is God’s and not another. It is not Jim Jones, but Christ that liveth in me. Nevertheless, I’ve lived like I never have lived before. (Voice quietens to conversational) Yet the Christ that doth the work. It’s beautiful to recognize Christ in one another, and I’m doing that in you.

Voice in congregation: Hallelujah!

Jones: (Voice builds) I am seeing the Christ in you. You are a chosen people. Jews are not one that are one outwardly but one that are ones inwardly. They are ones that are that but for the circumcision and (Unintelligible word) of the Spirit, and I see you as the chosen of Israel, and the chosen of Israel should not have to beg and seek help and habitations and housing, it should be the church of God, the Acts of the Apostles, the ecclesial of Christ duty to establish it on earth, and that we’re going to do. We’re causing these deserts to blossom as rose. We’ve caused 200 children in South America to eat that were starving. We’ve reached to India to a thousand that were starving, and we’re gonna keep on. We have only just begun that which we shall do, because Christ is doin’ the work.

Congregation: (Response)

Jones: My God Almighty, what you talkin’ about. What you wanna go back to those old ideas of worshippin’ God, (Quiet, conversational) and they don’t even know where they at. They betray themselves. As I said, if you saw a preacher sayin’ Jesus is coming soon, he tell ya, he’s coming soon, and if he was repp– wrapped up in my old robe here that got a hole in it, and they’ve knitted it with different color thread, then you might believe him. Say, the man looks like he’s gettin’ ready. Got no clothes, ‘cause you can’t fly away to heaven in clothes. You gone be translated in a moment, in the twinkling of an eye. That’s gonna– that’s gonna zip the clothes right off your back, honey. If you’re gonna get that, make quick a translation, you can’t take your mink furs and stoles and your heavy jewelry along with ya, and you’re sure not gonna get that translated, uh Cadillac. (Pause) (Voice begins to rise) They been robbin’ you, child. Tellin’ you that God’s someplace else other than where he is. God is within, and don’t let anybody take that away from you. Don’t let anyone rob you of the fact that God is embodied, that God is in the world, he never was outside of the world, that the 100%, hundredfold ministry of the one I am personal degree of consciousness speaking in the person of Christ as Paul did, that’s always been here. He said (emphatic) Lo, I am with you always, I will never leave you nor forsake you, not even to the end of the world. God has always had a body! God always will have a body! God never was without one and he never (voice gets quieter) will be without one.

Congregation: (Response)

Jones: Don’t you go back to anything else. While they throw around in muck and mire, and can’t pay anything but old church buildings they use one hour a day. This building for children to swim in, for women to get their arms straightened out and men to get their bones straightened that had been paralyzed. (Unintelligible word, sounds like “Teach”) here for children to learn their lessons during the week. Take them up. It’s a practical building and because we built it – and I helped build it with my own hands, put my own hands on these nails and the insulation and the floor and everything else – we built it as simply as we could like a tabernacle, so it could be used. It’s so marvelous to use, and because of it now we have 11 buses that’s gonna take us, we’re gonna take the Christ of God’s message up to Seattle. They don’t like for us to take it. They’ve threatened us already (unintelligible word) before we come, but you know we’re gonna go, no matter whether they threaten us or not, we’re gonna go!

Congregation: (Response and cheers)

Jones: We’ll be singin’ and praisin’ God, for where Jesus is, ‘tis heaven there.

Congregation: (Response)

Jones: We’ll take those 11 buses and travel on those highways. Already they’re goin’ down to Los Angeles to pick up members in our Los Angeles church to carry them up there. We’re gonna cause the kingdoms of this world, we’re gonna do it or we’re gonna fall out tryin’, causin’ the kingdoms of this world to become (voice rises) the kingdoms of our God–

Congregation: (Response)

Jones: –and his Christ! (Voice gets quieter) We’re tired of you people tellin’ us, heaven’s someplace out there in the sky. The sky is everywhere, and it’s nowhere. You have to travel a hundred and eighty-six thousand miles a second to get out there to the closest star, and you can do that in three million light years. Well, that’s too long, honey, I want to– You talk about getting raptured, you say, well, it’s a moment in the twinkling of an eye. I don’t care how many twinkles, it still takes you 300 mount– million light years of twinkles to get there! (Pause) (Voice calms) They always got you twinklin’, too. Lookin’ up. Lookin’ up. I said look within. I look within, and I’ve caused some of you to look within, and it’s so beautiful, the last time I was here holding a meeting, and the man back there behind that pool was crippled, you remember? And he straightened his arm and his leg. At the same moment I sent some brothers and sisters up there, stirred up the gifts within them, (voice rises) and I told ‘em who would be in Seattle, and I said “Call out their name.” [They] Said “Well, we don’t know how to do that.” I said “Call ‘em out!” They’ve got growths. Get rid of them! They’ve got crippling conditions. Get rid of them! And while I was sitting here ministering, my people were in Seattle, causing the cripples to walk and cancers to pass! Hey! God Almighty!

Congregation: (Response)

Jones: (moderates slightly) See the gifts and callings can be stirred up within the people. And quickened, and after I quicken them from my own, uh, development of the marvelous Cris– Christ Spirit and transmit them. Think what’s gonna happen when we get these things stirred up, when I get all you out in every community with the gifts of God and the marvelous supernatural power of God, then the Acts of God’s apostles, the socialistic ministry, (Unintelligible word) while preachers are tryin’ to get people to build their cars and homes and air condition their– oh– their– their– their bedrooms. (Voice drops) Oh, the stuff I’ve seen. Shower– like last week for the dear lady who’s been an ex-preacher’s wife, two thousand dollars, plus four, five thousand dollars in gifts. What gonna happen when you get this stirred up in you? And we get this re-created what I’m gone do? You don’t know what I’m up to, but I– I know what I’m up to. I heard what he said, bringing many (cries out) sons unto glory. We’re gonna disperse this Christ and re-distribute this Christ, and they’re gonna maybe think they’re gonna get Jim Jones, and then Jim Jones will pop up there, and they’ll knock him off there, and he’ll be over there! God will be here! God will be there! And God will be everywhere!

Congregation: (Response)

Jones: (Voice quietens, then builds) Don’t you know what I’ve got workin’? You haven’t– You don’t think I’m sittin’ up here to receive any glory. I’m dead! I sit here because I taught school day and night. I’ve had to work day and night and not sleep. I have no throne, it’s just a barber’s chair. I’m sittin’ because you’re sitting. If you can sit, I can sit. If I can work all night and help build buildings and carry out all the debris and clean up the showers and clean up the urinals, I got a right to sit just like you–

Congregation: (Response)

Jones: – because it’s a– But when my anniversary comes, you don’t give me any anniversary. When my birthday comes, you don’t give me any birthday, because I’m no more important than your dog hide. We’re all one in God. There’s nobody more important than another in God Almighty. (Pause) Ah, when we get holiness. So try to live what I am preaching, and breathe what I am demonstrating, and find that which I am transmitting. Come close to this which I have found in God and live it and look at it and breathe it, and if you look, you will live, and then you will reproduce this Spirit, and you’ll go out in the highways and hedges and compel them to come in, and I’ll tell you we’ll stern– we’ll turn this world upside down! We’ll stir up hell like it’s never been stirred up.

Congregation: (Response)

Jones: That’s my desire. I did not come this far by faith to just end this race as being one manifested son. I’m in a school of prophets. This thing is, as I said, as reincarnatable as the breath you breathe. It’s just as reincarnatable as the smile of a child, and we want to learn God’s ways. Live him and personify him. Say, well, why haven’t you sent people out with the gifts before now? You’ve got to have the fruits of the Spirit.

Scattered voices in congregation: Yeah!

Jones: You’ve got to have so much love. You say, Pastor Jim, where did you get this marvelous gift? Where did I get this love from? If you get this love – God is love – the more of love you get, then you’ll be able to go out on the road.

Congregation: (Response)

Jones: When you get enough love like you seen me to put my body, as I did one time in front of someone that wanted to stab another, to a jealous lover who’d come for a woman before she’d been converted. She’d had a lover, and she came in this church and was converted, and he came for her because she got converted. And he came back there, and what did I do, I told you all to stand and I put my body in front of him, and I dared him to put anything in my chest.

Congregation: (Response)

Jones: He put that gun and he put that knife back in his pocket because he was afraid! When you get the Spirit of the Comforter. The Comforter means the Spirit of bravery. In the Hebrew, it means the come forter, the “with fortis,” “cum forte,” with bravery. It’s not comfort like a quilt. Some of you think the Holy Ghost is a quilt to put you to sleep. It’s cum forte. (Cries out) With strength! With power! With anointing! The Holy Ghost is the essence of truth, and it’s a he. When he – the Spirit of truth – is come, he will lead you and guide you into all truth. (Quietens) It’s not an it, but it’s a he. (Pause) And when you get this, it’s what I’m waitin’ on. I’m waitin’ on you to develop the Christ in you. Without holiness, no man shall see the Lord. Follow holiness with all men. What’d it say? Without which no man shall see the Lord. Where do you have to follow holiness? With all men. You gotta find that holiness within and within others. Then you see God. This is the day when the promises of the ages are being fulfilled. You are they upon whom the ends of the world has come. You’re the cornerstone builders. Yes, my children, recognize the day you’re living in. This is the day when blessed are the pure in heart, for they shall not only (cries out) know God! Not only feel God! But they shall see God!

Congregation: (Response)

Jones: (voice quietens) He said when we see him – that’s the marvelous, marvelous beauty of the reincarnate-able Principle of Jesus Christ – when you see him, (Emphatic) you shall be like him. Now you remember when Jesus appeared on the road to Martha and Mary – get that truth, it may be overstated and trite to some, but it can never be lost, the meaning, the essence of it – when they were walking by the way, so deeply depressed over the loss of Jesus of Nazareth, the ones that had supped with him, dined with him, fed him, worked with him, did not know him, because someone had reincarnated that same Spirit, but the bodily appearance was different.

Congregation: (Response)

Jones: You understand the mystery? One walked by the wayside, but it didn’t look like the same Jesus. (Calls out) But it was the same Jesus!

Congregation: (Response)

Jones: (Cries out) But they called him, what? The gardener. That’s the way with people today. They’re so far from God, they call it everything, but it’s the same Jesus, it may be one time in a black person, it may be another time in a man, it may be in a woman ‘cause there’s neither male nor female, bond nor free, Greek nor Jew! God can move wherever he chooses whenever he chooses, with so ever whom he chooses! (Quietens) That’s the mystery of God. Christ in you, the hope of glory. Don’t be like Mary and Martha and miss him, because you’ve got a visual image of somebody with a long, white robe and long silver tresses in their hair or golden tresses. Don’t miss him! Some people are hot, that’s again a matter of thinking, my child, as you think in your heart. It’s very warm up here, this is the warmest of all positions, but in me is Christ and Christ is always the same. (cries out) All may change, but Jesus never!

Congregation: (Response)

Jones: (voice quietens) But for some, they might bring the flow of the air just a moment to circulate the air, ‘cause they’re worryin’ about heat, some of them, and they’re feelin’ the pressure of it. Not there. Just flow it up there (Stumbles over words). Bring it up to the pan. ‘Cause when I see people fan, then it disturbs, uh, me for concern for people. You see, I have a concern for people. Now I wish you’da get that. The same concern that caused me to adopt eight precious babies – it’s a joy really, no effort – the same concern that causes me to be here day in and day out and receive the– the strangers, the castaways, so to speak, for pure religion undefiled before God and the fathers to minister to the orphans and widows in their affliction, keep yourself unspotted from the world. You want to see Jesus? All right, then, you can see him tonight. Is there anybody hungry? Feed them. Is there anybody naked? Clothe them. If there’s anybody that’s a stranger, take them in, as we did the sister last night. Take them in. Don’t ask them for money or price, ‘cause the Christ of God doesn’t ask for money or price or reward. He doesn’t go out with purse or scrip on his journey. Doesn’t need any scripture. Doesn’t need any purse. Doesn’t need anything on that day’s journey but the Holy Ghost within. He said, when he’s come, take no thought for what ye shall say, but he’ll bring all things to remembrance in that hour. They may deliver you to the councils and to the tribunals, to the governors, to the– the magistrates, and even kill you, thinking they do God a service. So it’ll be the church that’s gonna persecute you. ‘Cause they’ll think God’s doing– they’re doing God a service. Don’t you worry about it, if God’s within you. They’ll make a way where there is no way. It’ll be like Paul that was preaching to the jailer, and all of a sudden, the walls come tumbling down. We seen too many things here.

Let’s not forget. I said, let’s not forget where we have been and what we have seen. When we were thrown out of the churches, and we had to be out in this field two years ago, over– just a little over, we were out in the winter all winter long, but not a drop of rain dropped on our bodies. The cars drove up, and as the cars drove up – you know you were there – you drove in from the factories, Masonite, the rain would be fallin’ in torrents upon you, but when you came in where we were sitting, (cries out) there wasn’t a drop of rain that fell on our heads. We were out with the wind, but I tell you, if you’ll believe in the actual conscious presence of God, it’s the source of all supply, (in full throat) it can and it will and it does satisfy every good desire. (Calms) So why don’t you recognize where God is, and quit this foolishness, and look it up, look within. The righteousness which is of faith sayeth not in thine heart who shall ascend into heaven and bring him down, but who shall descend into deep and bring him up. What sayeth if the Word is nigh thee, even in thy mouth and in thy heart. What is the Word? In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God and the Word was God, and the Word is made flesh. In a moment, you shall see the Word made flesh. And that’s what I want you to do. If I’ve come for anything, it’s to make you realize that you are sons and daughters of God. There’s no higher heaven than within you, nothing outside of you that can solve your problem. When they took Jesus and were going to persecute him, he said, for what good work do you stone me? You can’t receive me for my namesake, receive me for my worksake. But I wonder about these churches, when the tavern keeper down here who loves us because of the good we do for human beings, he warns us about one of the churches. (Short laugh) One of the Trinitarian churches gonna bomb us. (Laughs) What’s that– Now what kinda thing is this? Who warned us? The tavern keeper.

Congregation: Responds

Jones: He said, I heard what those church people– said, one of the old men of the sisters over there got drunk and come in here and he said, I don’t like what they’re gonna do to that church. (Pause) Said, they take in the animals and adopt the children. They clothe the needy. Said, they’re good people. So who called us? A preacher? No, your preacher’s not gonna call you, they’re the one trying to kill ya. You don’t need to worry about the church. It’s always gonna lose its first love, just about ten, twenty, fifty years, it’ll lose its first love. It always does that. Institutions kill God. So I don’t believe in institutions, don’t believe in robes, don’t believe in badges of authority and position, don’t believe in uh, uh, orders and stratums and denominations, ‘cause you’ve killed God, it robs God from his rightful place. He said, for what good work do you stone me? (Pause) He said, what have I done that you stone me? Anybody wonder about, uh, in Sacramento, some of you come here tonight here, visiting us, say, I wonder is he of God. You should know, if by anything else, everybody in the world, in No– in Northern California wants to kill me.

Congregation: Responds

Jones: They that live godly in Christ Jesus shall suffer persecution. Jesus, the captain of our salvation, was called not only a devil, child, but he was called the Prince of Devils, Beelzebub. He was called the prince of all devils. And all he could say to them, how are you so sick? Will a devil cast out a devil? Does a devil heal the sick, will a devil cast out the demon oppressions of diseases? No. He said, if it did, it’d be a house divided against itself. For as James said, all good things comes down from the Father of Light, whom there is no variableness or shadow of turning. (quick intake of breath) If it’s good, it’s God. That’s the universal mind. I wish you’d get this. You worry– you’ve been worried by these preachers that’re afraid they’re gonna lose a dollar. They want those dollars coming in to pay that Cadillac. (Pause) They gotta pay that bill. They’re afraid of losing one dollar. (soft, unintelligible word) So they tell you, don’t go over there. Be careful. Be careful. Don’t go there. Watch out. What they really want you to do is stay in prison. (more emphatic) Stay in prison.

Congregation: Scattered applause

Jones: Now I just want you to get free. ‘Cause church (unintelligible word) is a death. When you are free, stand fast in the liberty, where with Christ has made you free, and be not again entangled with the yoke of bondage. That’s my desire for you, to let you have what I have, and more. I hope you can see a picture of what I’ve taken, and reproduce a greater one in yourself. ‘Cause the world needs Jesus, and the only place they’re gonna find Jesus, child, is in you. You are living epistles, the only one they’re gonna read. So read me well. Don’t jump the gun. Don’t go out and think that you gonna get into this realm overnight. I’ve come through lynch mobs, I’ve been shot and shot down before your eyes, and you saw me picked up, you put the fingers in my– the holes in my chest, and I brought this about – the healing – because I recognized none of the– in this tabernacle but Christ. Said, I cannot die. My people need to see the Christ in me to bring forth the Christ in them. I cannot die. My people not ready. So I said I am hmm– that’s the key.

Congregation: Scattered applause

Jones: (Cries out) I said, I am not ready. (calms) And all that blood that was all over me, I got up (pause) as you well saw, and that night healed a man by just sending the Word, that was in a lepri– in a epileptic seizure – he’s right over there in the choir someplace – I just reached out and said, Arise. Preached all night. So take a good picture. Take a good picture, watch me closely, learn my mannerisms, learn the patterns of devotion, my spiritual paralife and my social administration, just a sense of concept of dispensational uh, principles that I uh, embody, the principles that I demonstrate every day. Learn all these principles closely. ‘Cause I’m a living Acts of the Apostles. I’m one of those acts – maybe a small act – but I’m a– gonna make an act that’s gonna help the work for Jesus.

Congregation: Scattered response.

Jones: See, the Acts of the Apostles still going on. He said, all the things that Jesus had both began to say and do, if they had been written in a book, the world would not be able to contain the book. So the Acts of the Apostles are being written here tonight, as it was last Wednesday, when the woman was given up to die with cystic fibrosis, (Pause) and you heard her testify Sunday, all gone. Been in pain, had to take, what was it, codeine every three hours, and it did not abate her pain. I said, come up, touch this back, ‘cause this back is le– yielded to God. I put my back against hers, told her things by revelation to quicken the Christ in her, and stir up the faith that was within her, and when I left, the pain was in my back, and she was free of it. She was shouting and dancing and praising God.

Congregation: Scattered response.

Jones: I know how to get rid of it. She didn’t have the moment of understanding to get rid of it. And the doctors had given up her to die. So let us not forget so great a salvation. We have seen, we have heard, we have walked, we have supped, we have seen our God. So, don’t forget that promise, that Christ is within you. (Pause) It’s only hope. And how can you hear without a preacher, how can he preach, lest he be sent? We have the Bible written by King James, translated, the books of Barnabus taken out by his dispensation, and after all, King James was an alcoholic. He wasn’t God. He was the king of England. Some of you think he was, uh– your old Pentecostal say at the time, Bless God, the King James version was good enough for Paul, it’s good enough for me. Paul never saw King James, honey. He never took a look at King James. King James wasn’t around when Paul was around. He was a king of England who persecuted the American colonists, who persecuted the Indians, and sent the Good Ship Jesus to Africa to bring back the blacks in chains. Don’t talk to me (unintelligible word) about him being God, he not God. And if you don’t have the Holy Ghost, the Spirit of truth, you cannot know even who Jesus is, the Scripture tells you. Because there– the words of the devil are in the Bible. The tempter’s there. The words that are translated errors there. If you go just to the letter– that’s why Corinthians warned you, the letter will kill you. Meaning the letters to Romans, the letter to Corin– Corinth, the– the– the Bible, in other words, just translated English, the Bible kills, but the Spirit God is love. What is the Spirit, then? God is love. So the Bible kills, but love makes alive. That’s the only thing that’ll make alive. The Bible will kill you, if you don’t have God within, and don’t have the fivefold ministry. He didn’t say Bibles would bring you to perfection, but apostles, pastors, teachers, evangelist, they are necessary for the perfecting of the saints, the work of the ministry, the edifying of the body of Christ. We have to have those manifold gifts and the manifold fruits of the Spirit. How can we hear without a preacher, how can he preach lest he be sent. Faith cometh by hearing and hearing – not reading – by the Word of God. Because even as you look in the booklet, King James, according to Matthew, doesn’t give the same ancestry of Jesus back to David as Luke does in the third chapter. It’s confusion. One place, Jesus’ grandfather is Heli, and the other place, it’s Jacob. In one place, his great-grandfather is Matthan, and the other place, it’s M-A-T-T-H-A-T. There’s a misspelled letter, one letter. That’s why we cannot live by the letter alone. It’s beautiful. Oh my God, when you got the Holy Ghost, it’ll open up marvelous truths to you, but (cries out) without the Holy Ghost, it’ll build of form of godliness denying the power thereof. You’ll have a structure that’s dead as the seeker’s bone. (Moderates) Be as dead as his boneyard. I mean, there’ll be a structure of death, not life. Ichabod will be written above the altar, the glory of God departed thereof. If you don’t know that, I can give you a thousand cases of error translations. You don’t know a thing about Jesus except the Holy Ghost reveal it to you. One writer says that he went with his parents immediately to Egypt. Another one says he kept the feast of the Passover every year in Jerusalem. Never even left Egypt. Didn’t even mention King Herod. One place, he ascended from Bethany, another place mentions another place. You have four different accounts of where Jesus ascended. (Pause) (Secondary microphone, reduced audio) This is what you called out people and tell them it’s off, and healed the cancers that I’ve already healed today, and the crippling of that woman’s arm, and tell them their loved ones’ far away, tell them the inner thoughts of their lives. No man can do this. No man knows the thoughts of the mind. Only the Word. What is the Word? The Word is God. The Word’s not the dead letter of King James. Get this book [“The Letter Killeth”], and you study it closely, and you’ll be a changed person, and you’ll come in to Life. You will not know death, but come in to Life, if you’ll study it and read it and digest it. But some of you won’t even bother to give it when we say all you have to do is talk to a secretary, and money won’t stand in your way. The letter kills, but the Spirit giveth life. The Bible, in other words. Letter to Romans, letter to Corinthians, letters to Collos– Colossians. Letters to Revelation. The letter, the Bible kills, but the Spirit– what is the Spirit? God’s Spirit is love. The Bible kills, but love makes alive. Second Corinthians 3:6. Why, you can’t know anything in the Bible without God sending his fivefold ministry. He said, you’re perfected by apostles, pastors, teachers, evangelist. [You] Say, I got an apostle. You don’t know you’ve got an apostle, you’ve got a diaper changer. You haven’t got an apostle.

Congregation: Laughter

Jones: I know an apostle when I see one, and I haven’t seen one in this continent. There’s no apostle in the continent of America, but this apostle is sitting here now.

Congregation: Applause

Jones: I don’t want you kidded. I don’t want you hurt. I don’t want your blood on my hands. I’m not going to mince any words with you. You’re not sitting under an apostle, unless you are here. (Pause)

Archie Ijames: So true. Hey.

Jones: (Voice climbs throughout) ‘Cause I don’t need any clapping. I just want them to be sure they digest it. The apostolic work, the mantle of God’s one-hundredfold consciousness is here. This is the hundredfold realm. Now if you want to be in thirty percent, you want to be, as some of you, thirty percent alive? You know how it is to be sixty percent alive and forty percent dead? He said, there’s thirtyfold, sixtyfold, and a hundredfold. In here, we’re one hundred percent God. (In full throat) One hundred percent alive, living in the actual conscious causes of the Almighty God, the Father and the Son and the Holy Ghost.

Congregation: Applause

Jones: (Voice moderates) Now if you want to be thirty percent alive and no– and sixty percent dead, that’s your privilege. ‘Cause there’s freedom, thank God, in the land. If you want to be sixty percent dead, stay dead.

Congregation: That’s right.

Jones: (Voice climbs throughout) You want to be in churches that’ll rob you to build buildings, take up offerings for Cadillacs, when you see an honest man standing before you in the same white robe, the same red shirt, the same one that I had on last night, was washed last night, same black pants were ironed last night, because I’ve adopted eight children, I suffer the little children to come unto me, for such is the kingdom of the consciousness (tape audio fades) of God of which I am. I’ve legally adopted eight, and I’ve reared dozens more, educated them, healed them, brought them out of schizophrenia, brought them out of drug damage, they’re now doing – some of them – straight A work, one of them studying to be a doctor that could not talk. So it’s beautiful to behold. The Spirit of the consciousness (unintelligible word) of God. I’m a living epistle, a living epistle that’s read and known of all men. Why any of you, when even the answer is walking across, wondering if you have time to give to the musical, to give to the (unintelligible word, sounds like “songfest”), to give to the pastor’s anniversary service, why any of you would have a taste of the heavenly gift, would not forget those things which are behind and reach forth unto those things which are behold and before. And why not? Why would you not press toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus that’s in your midst right here for you to behold. See?

Congregation: Responds

Jones: (Calms) That’s why the eagles are gathered together, that’s why the carcass is here. I have poured out myself, and people gather to eat of my flesh, (unintelligible word) the flesh of God. They pull on my body when I go down the aisles. No man should be pulled on like they pull on me. They pull on me, to take my flesh, wanting to (unintelligible word), he said, where the eagles are, where the carcass is, where one has died (unintelligible word), where the carcass is mortified, where the body is dead to sin, even is born (unintelligible word) if not to the sin, this is my body, it’s death to sin, and the trespasses of carnal law. I’m no longer living in the selfishness of the Cain through Abel. I’m no longer living in that capitalistic aggrandizing Spirit, but I’m living in the pure socialism and sharing of God Almighty.

Congregation: Responds

Jones: And as I do when in that Spirit, I’m able to share with you, and I know you will pull on me, until I can be pulled on to (unintelligible) ‘cause this is where the carcass is, there shall the eagles be gathered together. If it makes you strong, then I am glad. If I might die that you could live. If you could take cognizance of my teachings and my Spirit of (unintelligible word), and reproduce a greater picture of me and a greater power than I am, I will be eternally glad, for such is the law of the mathematics of God. It compounds more and more until the perfect day. Jesus said, these things shall you do, and greater, because I go to the Father. So we’re in a greater day than Jesus. If you’re dancing around a cross or wearing a medallion on your throat, you– you’re living in an old age. You’re living behind the cross. You’re living on the wrong side of resurrection. Because when he was come in this mighty (unintelligible word) today, it’s greater than the days of Jesus. He said, these things shall you do, and greater, because I go to the Father.

Congregation: Responds

Jones: Said the time will come when ye shall speak to the Father directly. Not in my name, but directly. Some are knowing what that consciousness is. Father sent his servants to the vineyard, to his own vineyards, (unintelligible), and they killed a servant, and they sent a prophet, and they killed the prophet, and they sent his son, and they did to him (Voice builds) what they would, but he said then he would come himself, and no man would be able to take his life from him, and it (unintelligible word) the truth today, God has come on the scene in the fathership degree. God Almighty has come on the scene, (Voice calms) and he’s gonna take the harbor, he’s gonna take his vineyards back from those false rascals, from those (unintelligible word) that have spoiled the vineyards. God himself has come in the hundredfold. (unintelligible) (Pause) The last time that they (unintelligible word) before your eyes, they didn’t (unintelligible word) blood. The first time, it’s growing more and more, you see. The other time it (unintelligible word) blood (unintelligible word), the last time it was (same unintelligible word), because no greater love has any man than to lay down his life for his friends. So I put myself in the way of a bullet that would’ve killed others this week, as you saw. (Pause) (Cries out) No man takes my life from me. I took my (unintelligible word), and I shall lay it down when it pleases me. But I shall say to you, you, the lost tribe, the chosen of Israel, I say to you in the Spirit of prophecy, you that’ve been called out from amongst the dead bones of the (unintelligible word) boneyard, you that are chosen, upon you of whom the ends of the world have come, (In full throat) I say unto you, that my mind, my supernatural Spirit, my supernatural voice, will always be sitting on this chair. Over the night, we’ll pass away, bodies will come and go, but I shall remain eternally, faithfully, (unintelligible word), I am God, and God does not (unintelligible word).

Congregation: Responds.

Jones: (unintelligible sentences) You that have not had your souls set on fire by God, but your soul set on fire by hell, it’s good that you find your way out of this (unintelligible word) (Pause) It’s so true. I want you to hear what the Spirit has to say (unintelligible word). If you know God, then you (unintelligible word)all his troubles. If you know God, you’d prosper and be in good health, even as I am, in every sinew and fiber and cell and atom of my bodily form. If you know God, (unintelligible). But you know God (unintelligible word). Not the God of the Pharaoh. In the likenesses that Paul and not in thine heart who shall ascend into heaven and bring him down. (unintelligible). Who shall they send (unintelligible). But Paul said, where is the Word? He said, it’s in thy mouth and in thy heart, and I’ve come to show you that, I being God, I shall make you gods even as I am, sayeth the Lord. That’s why they crucified Jesus (unintelligible sentences). Did you know that’s in your Bible (unintelligible)? (Cries out) I have come to claim my inheritance. I have considered it not robbery to be equal with God, and I am enjoying resurrection, I am enjoying compassion, I am enjoying power, I am enjoying blessings, blessings, and blessings, a multitude of blessings. Now as far as I can see, on the mathematical (unintelligible sentences). He said, whoever wasn’t (Unintelligible word). Blessed are the pure in heart, for they shall see God. When you free yourself from racism, from the ownership of things, from the possessiveness of materiality, when you free yourself from the lust of the flesh and the pride of life, when you free yourself from capitalistic enslavement and jealousy, when you free yourself from mortality and all of its burdens, when you are pure of all those things, then you will see God in San Francisco, California.

Congregation: Cheers

Jones: (Voice climbs) You know God. And you see him. And he’ll walk with you, and he’ll talk with you, and he’ll tell you that you are his own. And the voice you hear will be the voice of socialist cheer, and he’ll always be with you, and he’ll never leave you. (Moderates) To those that know God (unintelligible) –not have to hold on to a black book written by King James of England, who sent the first ship– the Good Ship Jesus to bring back our brothers and sisters in chains. You’ll not look to the letter that doesn’t even know the ancestry of Jesus. Matthew disagrees with Luke. Matthew 1 and Luke 3:23 disagree as to who Jesus’ grandfather is, and they both trace him through Joseph, but both give him 15 different grandparents. And one has 15 more grandparents than the other, getting him back to Abraham. You don’t know anything by the letter. You don’t know where Jesus ascended. Two different mountains are mentioned, and one suggestion that it was at the Last Supper. You don’t know what happened to him on the cross. One says – one Scripture, one Bible verse says – that the thieves (unintelligible words) railed on him, all the thieves cursed him. The other says only one, and the other thief cursed and rebuked the other one. And Jesus said to the one good thief, this day, you shall be with me in paradise. One Scripture says that Jesus (Unintelligible word) was baptized with this union of God, when the combustion of God took place in him – you see, he had to be combusted into God. You understand what I’m saying. Jesus was made obedient. If you’re perfect, you don’t have to be made obedient. He was made obedient and conformable to the image of the Son of God through the death. He was made conformable, made obedient through, what? The death of the cross. He was made perfect, what? Through suffering. That’s why I said, though he was a slave – that’s the beauty of Jesus – he said, though I was a servant, I considered it not robbery to be equal with God.

Congregation: Cheers.

Jones: That’s why that same Jesus who came out of Nazareth – and which they said no good thing ever came out of Nazareth – they chided him and said we know who our father is, Abraham, but who’s your father? (Voice drops, then climbs) Jesus came about being born as a bastard, born in a bastardly relationship, but it did matter not to him. He kept his mind, and his ideals stayed on God’s principles. Finally, when he made the (unintelligible word) and overcame, stood up bravely for his ideals, laid his life down for his friends, they said on the day of Pentecost, this same Jesus that was once just a Nazarene, this same Jesus is now both Lord and Christ. He sits at the right hand of power, because he was perfected through suffering, he learned obedience, and now he’s the Father and the Son and the Holy Ghost.

Congregation: Applause.

Jones: (Moderates, then builds) Human as he was. Carpenter’s son. Come out of Nazareth, where there’s no good thing. But he was a slave and he knew it, but he still considered it not robbery to be equal with God. Said, how do you know these things? How do I know the thoughts of these women’s minds, and heal both of them and their mother of cancer, how did I do that? How? Because the Word is sharper than a two-edged sword. That’s what straightened the arm and made it move again. That’s what caused that crippled woman’s leg to be straightened a while ago. That’s what caused it, because the Word is sharper than a two-edged sword. Hebrews 4:12. It discerns the thoughts and knows the intents of the heart. You read Hebrews 4:12, and you’ll see that I am the Word. I am incarnating the Word, and the Word in the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God, and the Word is made flesh. The Word of God is here.

Congregation: Applause

Jones: (Moderates) It matters not, only that I’m sorry in my Spirit for you that will not rejoice in this recognition. You cannot get enthralled by it, because you just have not tasted of the heavenly gift. You would know that I am (unintelligible word) Christ in God. You would know that I’m made in his image. You would recognize the truth that has evolved and that I’m involved in, the in– infinite, the wonderful, beautiful possibility of infinite mind. Oh, it’s so beautiful. Just like the oak that makes the forest, but it’s all involved in the acorn. (Voice quietens, then climbs) The seed, the seed, the seed that forms in me has now become a mighty oak, and I’m reproducing acorns, and I’m gonna have a forest, and we’re going to have the trees of beauty that shall not be moved, like a tree that planted by the water, we shall overcome. I declare, I promise, I foreswore in the ark of the covenant, we shall cover the earth with this great knowledge of God, as the waters cover the sea. I declare unto you–

Congregation: Responds

Jones: –we shall glorify the name of Jesus. (Pause) The true followers of (unintelligible). (Pause) I think I have said enough to stir up the pure minds. (Pause) If you have the pure mind, I’ve stirred it up. If you have a disturbed mind, (Pause) at least that’s better than having a decided one. Let your disturbance continually concentrate on this effervescent flow, and see if this truth will make you whole. Just try me, and see if my Spirit is not of God. What would you judge me by? Would you judge me by the dead letter? The dead letter that says that after Jesus was touched by the dove symbolizing his combustion into the consciousness of God’s son, in the sonship degree, when the Holy Ghost descended upon him, one scripture says he went 40 days into the wilderness, and stayed there 40 days and 40 nights. King James has got it mixed up. In another place, he says three days after his baptism, he was in Cana of Galilee, which is some 80 miles from the wilderness, turning water into wine. Um-hmm. So while he could’ve been supernaturally in two places the same time, all right, but what about this? Did he keep the feast of the Passover with his parents in Jerusalem every year? That’s what one writer says. Said he never went to Her– uh, to flee from Herod. Read your Bible. Said he never fled from Herod. Said he kept the feast of the Passover every year in Jerusalem. Another said he went to Jerusalem and never returned. (Claps hands once) It’d be a lie then, if he even came back supernaturally. (Pause) Ah, child. (Voice builds) All through the book. Acts, Chapter 9. Acts, Chapter 22. Paul said the ones that were with him on the road to Damascus when he had that great conversion, which he had, but King James is the king of England, he doesn’t know his right hand from the left. He said those that were with him in one case saw the shape but did not hear the voice. The other place it turns it just around, and says the opposite. They heard the voice but did not see the shape. You don’t tell me it’s not so, don’t shake your head at me, uh, you better read the book and see. That’s what it says.

Congregation: Responds

Jones: And you quote to me, there’s three that bear record in heaven. John 5. Three that bear record in heaven. God never said it, Jesus never said it, Apostle Paul never said it, Pope Pius, one of the ugliest Roman popes of the Catholic Church, put it in there to support that ungodly doctrine of the Trinity. It was never there. Say, I never heard tell such– Well, you better go read Clock’s– Clark’s commentary. You better read all your Pentecostal commentary. You better read your Catholic commentary. All your concordances, any good one will tell you that. That that’s not original scripture. Well, if they sneak in one lie on you, how many more did they sneak in on you?

Congregation: Laughter

Jones: Hmm? That’s why I– He said. He’d speak for himself. That’s why I said, how can you hear without him preaching? How can he preach, lest he comes? That’s the way it originally said. You have it, “How can he preach, lest he’d been sent.” He said, he’ll preach for himself and he’ll be sent from heaven. Faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the Word of God, and the Word of God, as I told you, Hebrews 4:12. It discerns the thoughts and knows the intents of the hearts. Didn’t say you could get your way to heaven by reading. You can’t get across the street by reading in the Bible. You get lost before you get to Geary Avenue.

Congregation: Responds

Jones: (Calls out) Faith cometh by hearing, (claps several times) and hearing by the Word of God. (Voice quietens, then climbs) You say, I’m going up there to that church. Why do you want to go up there? He hasn’t got the Word of God. Can he call out the sick? Can he raise the dead? Can he prophesy? Can he discern the thoughts of the mind? Can he know the knowledge of what’s– their ailments are? Can he tell them their loved ones back a hundred years? Can he tell them what happened to them when they were born? Can he tell them what happened to them before they were born? Can he tell them what’s going to take place(voice drops) in the years to come?

Congregation: No.

Jones: No. So why don’t you stay where the Word of God is. (Pause) (Voice climbs throughout) Take your empty vessels and go after empty cisterns, that’s what most of you do. And the well’s flowing here, with water. Out of my belly is flowing water, as the issues of life. (glossolalia) I’m lifting you from economic and moral oppression. I’m putting your faith in Jesus Christ. Say, why, you don’t– you don’t glorify Jesus. I glorify Jesus, not by mouth – that won’t help him – I’m gonna live him. He said, become living epistles. Let the Word be in you, Christ in you, the hope of glory. I’m causing people to talk about Jesus. They’re talking about him everywhere. Saying oh that– that man over there, raising the dead, bringing all races together. My enemies are talking about me, my friends are talking about me. And they’re trying to shoot me.

Congregation: Responds.

Jones: The devil try to shoot the devil? Not on your life.

Congregation: No.

Jones: Then the last days, they’ll turn you over to the councils and the governors, put you in prisons, and even kill you, thinking they do God a service. They that live godly in Christ Jesus won’t maybe, but shall suffer persecution. Do you know anybody else they’re trying to shoot?

Congregation: No.

Jones: (Conversational) Do you know anybody else that they’ve poisoned? They poisoned me, and they poisoned some others, and I raised us all up, and they took the poison to General Hospital Ukiah, and it said it was enough to kill a team of horses. (Pause) But I didn’t even get dizzy.

Congregation: Responds, then applause

Jones: I think I would do some thinking about it down there. I’d think about it real close. I’d wonder about it. Wonder what it is this man? What is he? What is it that he can do these things? I’m the hundredfold realm of God. God personified. I am in the Father, the Son, and the Holy Ghost, in the oneness of Christ, I’m walking here, (calls out) the body, the Temple of the Holy Ghost.  (Pause) (Voice quietens, then climbs) And that’s all foreign to you, you get nervous. This sister gonna leave (claps once), gon– she upset about it (claps once) she gonna have a stroke too, (claps once) and never see ‘er. (Pause) Whatcha talking about? I’m just putting into practice – I put into practice – what you have been told about so long ago. Every day they tell you, you’re the Temple of the Holy Ghost. I come along and tell you, that I’m the body of God, and that bothers you, because when I become the body of God, it means you’re gonna have to become the body of God. You’re gonna have to listen to what God has to say.

Congregation: Responds

Jones: It’s all right if we keep these things out here in the suppositional. Keep ‘em out in the imaginary realms. But when someone says exactly what Temple means – that means you’re the body of God – if you’re the Temple of the Holy Ghost, you’re the body of God, the Holy Ghost is God’s Spirit.
