FBI Summary:

Date of transcription: 3/14/79

In connection with the Federal Bureau of Investigation’s investigation into the assassination of U.S. Congressman LEO J. RYAN at Port Kaituma, Guyana, South America, on November 18, 1978, a tape recording was obtained. This tape recording was located in Jonestown, Guyana, South America, and was turned over to U.S. Officials in Guyana and subsequently transported to the United States.

On March 2, 1979, Special Agent (name deleted) reviewed the tape numbered 1B47 #117. This tape was found to contain the following:

Side A: Consisted of radio broadcasts bringing alternatives. It initially dealt with an individual trying to convince a 37- year old woman to admit her homosexuality. It further dealt with a radio broadcast telling its listeners to write President CARTER and CYRUS VANCE to urge them to pressure President PARK and the South Korean Government to free KIM CHEE HA, an individual who is in solitary confinement outside of Seoul, for writing certain articles. The last part of this side consisted of music.

Side B: Consisted of music.

Nothing was contained thereon which was considered to be of evidentiary nature or beneficial to the investigation of Congressman RYAN.

Differences with FBI Summary:

The “individual trying to convince a 37- year old woman to admit her homosexuality” is Garry Lambrev – a former member of Peoples Temple – reading a poem he wrote about Anita Bryant. Otherwise, the summary is accurate and meets the FBI’s purposes.
