Letter from Vera Washington

Dear Ron Haulman,

The completed plaques for the Jonestown victims are due to be unveiled on May 29, 2011. I cannot find words to express to you what this means to my family and so many others that lost members of their families in Guyana. Thirty two years without a significant memorial is difficult to imagine. These plaques will finally bring a sense of respect and a decent ending to a horrific tragedy. I lost a niece and a sister in law in that South American jungle and can never forget how the event left a gaping whole in our family. We can acknowledge the efforts of Ms. Norwood and respect her views. However, the whole community of survivors need a peaceful and harmonious tribute to our friends and love ones who lost their lives. Thank you for your help.

Sincerely,
Vera Washington
