Schedule of Events

On November 16, 2008, “Speaking Their Names,” a ceremony unveiling a memorial listing the names of all who perished in Jonestown will be held at the Jewish Community Center in San Francisco. Details are here.

The annual memorial service at Evergreen Cemetery will begin at 11 A.M. on Tuesday, 18 November 2008. Pastor Jynona Norwood will preside. There will be a gathering of former Temple members, relatives and friends during the afternoon of November 18, after the memorial service, in Richmond. Contact Jordan Vilchez for more information.

For the sixth consecutive year,  the California Historical Society Library will be open for former members, relatives and friends to view photographs and selections from the Peoples Temple Collection. There will be a listening station in the reading room so that individuals can listen to recordings from among the more than 800 cassette tapes of Peoples Temple services, meetings, and communications between the U.S. and Guyana. The Library will be open Monday, 17 November 2008, from 11 am to 2 pm (Please note: The special opening is the day before the memorial service).
