The Alternative Considerations of Jonestown and Peoples Temple website has received an honor of which we are very proud: MERLOT (Multimedia Resource for Online Learning and Teaching) has recognized the website by linking it to its site of distinguished learning materials.
MERLOT (http://www.merlot.org) is an online community of faculty and students who collaborate to increase the quantity of high quality teaching materials on the Internet. The primary audience for MERLOT is those interested in using technology in higher education. By listing peer-reviewed websites, MERLOT identifies excellence in online resources, steering educators to the best of the ‘net. The service is free and continuously updated.
An article in The Chronicle of Higher Education recognized the value of MERLOT in an article titled “The Open Source Bazaar Makes Scholarship Available” (9 September 2004). The article urged foundations that support scholars to require that project results be listed on sites like MERLOT to disseminate grant-funded research.
