Harriet Tropp: The following is a reading from the book, Cities Without Crisis, by Mike Davidow. Mr. Davidow is a correspondent from the– for The Daily World, and spent five years living in Moscow from 1969 to 1974. He also has been a supporter of uh– a supporter of ours– a rather consistent supporter of ours uh, in San Francisco.
The chapter I’m going to read is called “Mental Health Care: A Tale of Two Systems,” and it compares – in a very personal way – the mental health care experience in the United States and in the Soviet Union.
