Summary:
Jim Jones reads an article published in a national magazine about the role of the Trilateral Commission in American politics, especially in choosing presidential candidates for the Democratic party. He has difficult reading the text at times, and a woman’s voice often fills the pauses with the next word in the article. Beyond his references to the US as “monopoly capitalist,” Jones offers little editorial commentary of his own.
His only real moment of spontaneity comes when he describes his meeting in 1976 with Democratic vice presidential candidate Walter Mondale at the San Francisco airport. During the meeting, according to Jones, Mondale vowed that the US would never again do anything like bomb Chile. Jones report the account with his observation that Mondale’s “words dripped with blood.”
