“Mary Canada (pronounced Cuh-NAH-da) had a 50-mile commute to attend services, which she did regularly for as long as I can remember. I know she went on trips with us, because I remember her name at roll call (to make sure everybody was on the bus). There were a few families who lived in Pittsburg, a far-flung Bay Area suburb.
Mary was short, quiet and very pleasant. In Jonestown she roomed at some point with Edith Roller in Cottage 48, and is described as very agreeable in Edith's August 1978 journal entries. I'm sad that I can't tell you more about her and it is too late to ask. RIP, dear Mother Canada ” - Kathryn Barbour |
