Re: Peoples Temple of the Disciples of Christ v. Attorney General of the State of California

Dear Mr. Beck:

On Friday, November 12, 1982, Judge Brown ordered the distribution of the additional $4,771,537.00. Therefore, on this distribution, you will receive 32.39% of the face value of your receiver’s certificate. Your check made payable to you and me in that amount is enclosed. Also enclosed is a pink copy of a disbursement. If you find a disbursement in order, please sign and return it to me along with the check. The check should be endorsed on the back exactly the way your name appears on the front of the check.

When I receive the check back from you, I will then forward you our trust account check for the amount due you. There will be a three-day waiting period between the time to check the both of us is deposited in the time that I can issue you a trust account check. That is a requirement imposed by our bank in view of the amount of money involved. Also, the best way for you to handle your check is to deposit it in your bank account. Last time, some people went to our bank to get cash for their checks. Banks just don’t keep that much cash around anymore, since banks these days due primarily in paper, not greenbacks.

There will probably be a final distribution in February or March of next year. Right now, based on the amount of money estimated to be available, in that distribution you will probably receive about 3% to 4% of the face value of your certificate. As of now, we are not aware of any money coming into the receivership, other than what I have already outlined above.
