Summary:
Jim Jones has a telephone conversation with Rosalynn Carter during the 1976 campaign, during which Jones pledges his support, as well as that of the “many thousands of members” of Peoples Temple. Jones expresses his appreciation for Carter¹s Christianity and liberality, as well as the Temple¹s compassion for the Carter¹s son who had received negative press for raising money for a gay bar.

In connection with the Federal Bureau of Investigation¹s investigation into the assassination of U.S. Congressman LEO J. RYAN at Port Kaituma, Guyana, South America, on November 18, 1978, a tape recording was obtained. This tape recording was located in Jonestown, Guyana, South America, and was turned over to U.S. Officials in Guyana and subsequently transported to the United States.
On June 14, 1979, Special Agent (name deleted) reviewed the tape numbered 1B68-5. This tape was found to contain the following:
Side A – End of tape contains a recorded conversation between JIM JONES and an unidentified female sounding like Rosalynn Carter.
Side B – Blank.
