Since November 18 is on a Monday this year, there will be memorial gatherings on two days.
The first will be a potluck for survivors, relatives and friends beginning at 4 pm. on Sunday, November 17, at the home of Vera (Biddulph) Washington. Contact Vera for more information – including directions – if you need it.
The California Historical Society is closed to the public on Mondays, but could have a minimal staff meet people the morning of the 18th if there is enough interest from the Temple community to view photographs. Contact Laura Kohl if you are interested in going to CHS.
The service at Evergreen Cemetery will be on Monday, November 18, beginning at 2 pm. This is the time when many survivors and family members will come together to spend time with other loved ones and share some treasured memories of those who lost their lives 35 years ago. This is a casual gathering with no planned program, but does present people with an opportunity to share a poem, a song, or a piece of art. All survivors, family members, and close friends are welcome.
Everyone in attendance at this service (and even those who cannot attend) will be invited to gather at a nearby coffee house or small restaurant afterwards for conversation and reflection. Contact Laura Kohl for more details on the post-service gathering.
