2. Court hearing held the morning and afternoon of October 22 failed to conclude the matter involving the claim against Lawrence Layton for legal fees and advances. A further hearing has been set for Saturday morning, October 25. We have canceled reservations on the last Pan Am flight out of Guyana and, when the time comes, will probably want to use the new Guyana Airways direct service to Miami, which commences Oct. 26, to get Layton back to the US.
3. The Director of Public Prosecutions informed us October 23 that he would not take action to expel Layton until the present restraining order was lifted. He assured us that Layton would not be allowed to go free in Guyana in the meantime, and that once the decision to expel him was taken, the DPP would give us as much time as we needed to get FBI agents here to take Layton back.
