For information and passage to Guyanian [Guyanese] police authorities, FBI HQ indices as well as indices of San Francisco, Sacramento, Los Angeles, San Diego, and Indianapolis Offices negative regarding Charles Edward Beikman, born August 13, 1935, and Lawrence [Laurence] John Layton, born January 11, 1946. No record on above names in NCIC or criminal history files. No record in FBI Identification Division or in California Law Enforcement Teletype System. Additional information as developed will be furnished.

FBI HQ has been advised of the distinct possibility that certain survivors of the assault and mass suicide at Jonestown, Guyana may leave Georgetown by way of commercial air transportation. Therefore, these persons would not be interviewed by the FBI team awaiting arrival of survivors in Charleston, South Carolina. It is imperative FBI be advised of the identity of those survivors leaving Guyana by commercial airlines, their destination, and estimated time of arrival in order to effect an interview of those persons.
State Department is requested to advise U.S. Embassy, Georgetown.

NOTE: Above responds to requests from Legat, Georgetown, Guyana for information on Charles Edward Beikman who has been arrested for the throat-slashing murders of Mrs. Sharon Amos and her three children in Georgetown, Guyana, and on Lawrence John Layton, arrested for the murder of Congressman Ryan. Both arrests made by Guyanian Police requested background information on the above persons. By separate teletype leaves being set forth to develop additional background for use by Guyanian authorities.
